This 1976 Mercedes-Benz Unimog 416 “Doka” double-cab was converted to an overland truck by Adrenalin Industries which included a new clutch, transmission rebuild, a 3 inch body lift and an extensive list of overlanding equipment. Finished in tan over a black interior, power is provided by a 5.7-liter turbocharged inline-six diesel engine mated to a 6-speed manual transmission with intermediate and crawler gearboxes which drive all four wheels through portal axles. Features consist of Corbeau racing seats, a custom bed and roll cage, a compressed air supply system, custom fuel tanks, a custom bumper with a Warn winch, bed rack-mounted 23Zero tent, LED driving lights, a JVC stereo w/bluetooth and digital EGT and boost gauges. This Unimog 416 is now offered for sale on consignment with an additional spare set of wheels with tires mounted and a clean California title in the current owner’s name.
20” steel wheels with a wider offset were fitted to the truck and mounted with a set of Continental MTP81 tires which measure 365/80 on all four corners. The seller reports that a set of aftermarket shocks and springs were fitted to the car during its modification. The integrated compressed air supply system allows for inflation of the tires while on the go. The wheels are said to show signs of imbalance at highway speed. The seller states a full set of spare wheels with tires mounted will also come with the sale.
Corbeau front racing seats are trimmed in black upholstery which matches the rear bench. Extensive heat shielding and sound deadening was fitted throughout the cabin along with a custom headliner. Additional interior appointments include a 12-volt DC socket, a 120-volt wall socket, a diesel-powered cabin heater, a JVC bluetooth head unit and six aftermarket speakers.
Digital instrumentation fitted to the vehicle includes an Auber digital boost gauge, an exhaust gas temperature gauge and a GPS speedometer. The added digital odometer shows 850 miles from the time it was fitted with the current owner adding 500 miles over the past year.
This Unimog 416 is powered by a 5.7-liter OM532 diesel engine which was recently overhauled and fitted with a Holset turbocharger. A synchronized six-speed manual transmission utilizes an intermediary and crawler gearbox to provide 20 individual forward gear ratios. The transmission was recently overhauled and received a new clutch. Three differential lockers send power to all four wheels which use portal axles to increase ground clearance. The seller reports that vent tubes were recently fitted to the portal axles.
The truck was purchased by the current owner from Adrenaline Industries in August 2022 and is currently registered in California with a passing California Smog inspection. This 1976 Unimog 416 “Doka” overland build is now offered for sale on consignment in San Diego, California with a full spare set of Unimog wheels with mounted tires and a clean California title in the current owner’s name.
Cold Start and driving videos have been provided by the seller below.
The first Unimog rolled off production lines in 1948 under the behest of Booehringer which was soon acquired by Daimler-Benz in 1951 with production of newer models continuing to this day. The name ‘Unimog’ is an acronym of its delightfully creative German name which translates to ‘Universally applicable motorized machine for agriculture’. While not particularly catchy, its descriptive name is quite fitting as the applications for the Unimog were quite diverse covering agriculture, heavy industry, off-roading and everything in between. With the recent rise in popularity of overlanding, these capable trucks have become the prime choice for off-road enthusiasts. With unbeatable ground clearance and a plethora of standard off-roading equipment, such as the portal axles, crawler gearbox and compressed air system, little is needed to convert these trucks into the ultimate overlander. Steep approach and departure angles ensure its ability to tackle any terrain while the locking differentials and ultra-short gear ratios allow power to be tactically supplied to all four wheels. This example includes a ton of off-the-shelf and custom equipment ensuring its owners can go further and do more behind the wheel of this behemoth.

@GarageCollective I just wanted to say that this is an amazing vehicle and GLWA. I'm more of a luxury sedan kind of guy, but if I were into overlanding/off roading, a UNIMOG would be an amazing choice!
