This 1988 Mercedes-Benz 560SL shows first registration in New Jersey with later registration in Pennsylvania and Florida and just 94k miles shown on the odometer. Finished in Signal Red (568) over Black Leather (271), power is provided by a 5.5-liter V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. Equipment includes a paint-matched removable hardtop, a folding soft top, a power passenger side mirror, front fog lamps, automatic climate control and cruise control. Recent maintenance includes a full fluid flush, new fuel pumps and pressure regulator, a new air filter and an alignment. This 560SL is now offered for sale by the selling dealer with the original manufacturer’s literature, partial service history, the original tool kit, a clean Carfax report and a clean Michigan title.
The exterior is finished in Signal Red (568) and features a paint-matched removable hardtop with a heated rear window and a black fabric soft top. Exterior features include front fog lamps, heated door mirrors with a power-adjustable passenger side and an automatic antenna. The car shows no signs of rust or damage on the exterior with no accidents or damage reports appearing on the Carfax. A rock chip is visible in the windshield and has been documented in the photo gallery below.
The factory 15” Gullideckel wheels have been wrapped in a set of Hankook Optimo tires measuring 205/65 with date codes from 2017. The wheels appear to be clean with no signs of damage or corrosion visible. A full-size spare can be found mounted below the trunk floor along with the factory tool kit. The seller reports that a four wheel alignment, brake service and brake fluid flush was performed in preparation for the sale.
The cabin is trimmed in Black Leather (271) with matching black carpets and floor mats while Burl Walnut wood trim adorns the center console and dashboard. Both front seats are manually-adjustable and fold forward to provide access to the rear parcel shelf which holds the factory first-aid kit. Interior appointments include automatic climate control, cruise control, a lockable glove compartment, a dash-mounted outside temperature gauge and an aftermarket Blaupunkt Sacramento head unit.
The four-spoke steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer as well as a 7k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock and gauges for fuel level, economy, coolant temperature and oil pressure. The six-digit odometer currently shows just under 94k miles from new.
This R107 is powered by a 5.5-liter M117 V8 which is factory rated for 227 horsepower and 279 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. Recent maintenance performed by the seller included an engine oil and filter change, a coolant flush, brake fluid flush, a new air filter, a new alternator belt, an AC pulley, new fuel pumps and a new fuel pressure regulator. Service records from 2018 under prior ownership are included totaling $9k.
The Carfax report shows linear mileage updates with no accidents or damage reports since new. The mileage appears to have been misreported in September 2022 showing 95k miles with service records from early 2023 showing the odometer at 93k miles. This 560SL is now offered for sale in Troy, Michigan with the original manufacturer’s literature, tool kit, first-aid kit, a clean Carfax report and a clean Michigan title.
Walkaround and startup videos are viewable below.
The R107 is an icon of the 80’s and one of the most recognizable classic cars from Mercedes-Benz. Being produced for 17 years, the V8 version of the R107 in the US started out with a 4.5-liter V8 and eventually graduated to the larger 5.5-liter version starting in 1986. While the R107 continues to solidify its legendary status among a lineage of SL's, R107's in above average mechanical condition are becoming tougher to find than ever with the M117-powered 560SL's leading the way from a collectibility and value standpoint. This example presents exceptionally well showing just 94k original miles and extensive recent maintenance. With a clean exterior finished in a desirable Signal Red paint, this 560SL is sure to bring plenty of attention from dedicated enthusiasts and is certain to provide many years of Mercedes excellence for its lucky new owner.

@classicsurvivors Hello. A/C blows cold, body is straight with zero dents anywhere. Maybe 2 or 3 rock chips touched up, but you won't even find them unless I show you them. No rust. Car was garage kept. This is one of the cleanest underbody I have personally seen. Please view all the pictures, they speak for themselves. It was fluid filmed it's whole life, and I detailed it to prove that there was nothing hiding under the fluid film. Engine bay is very dry. No visible coolant or oil leaks. Previous owner invested a lot of money into this car. It is turn key and ready to drive. Let me know if you would like any close up photos of anything.

Does the AC work ? Any noticeable dents or rust anywhere ? Any fluids leaking anywhere ? Thanks! Looks like a great example. Would not mind adding it to my collection if everything checks out..
