This 1979 Mercedes-Benz 450SL is finished in Astral Silver Metallic (735) over a Red (207) leather interior and a factory optioned hardtop finished in Anthracite Grey Metallic (172). It’s powered by a 4.5-liter V8 paired with a three-speed automatic. The car has been under current ownership since 2014 and includes documentation dating back to 1991 including regular service and maintenance. This R107 SL shows 146k miles (True Mileage Unknown) on a rebuilt odometer and features include electric front windows, automatic climate control, Tempomat Cruise Control, and a black soft top. Recent upgrades and maintenance includes a new soft top, Bilstein shocks, a new muffler, tires and brakes, rear spring pads, warm-up regulator, brake hoses, and an oil service. This 450SL is offered with a hardtop stand, two keys, the factory tool kit, manufacturer's literature, and a clean Virginia title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in Astral Silver Metallic (735) and shows original paint and bodywork with a couple rust spots under the paint on the decklid. A dual red pinstripe is shown along the upper beltline of the body. Detailed photos of the paint condition are viewable in the gallery. There is no indication of other bodywork and the car has no history of accidents or other damage. Features include fog lights, chrome mirror caps, an Anthracite Grey Metallic (172) painted removable hardtop (noted on the datacard), and a new black soft top. The hardtop is shown in the gallery below mounted to the roadster.
The car retains US-market lighting and bumpers, and is fitted with OEM 14” bundt wheels and Goodride radial tires measuring 205/70 all around.
The cabin is finished in Red (207) leather with matching carpets and trim. A set of red carpet floor mats are included with the sale. Zebrano trim accents the dash, console, shifter, and door panels. Features included electric front windows, automatic climate control, and Tempomat Cruise Control. An original Becker Europa head unit is shown mounted in the dashboard to the original stereo.
The black four-spoke steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and an analog clock. Additional auxiliary gauges include fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The rebuilt six-digit analog odometer now shows 146k miles with true mileage noted as unknown.
The fuel-injected 4.5L SOHC V8 originally made 180 horsepower for the US market. Power is routed to the rear wheels via a three-speed automatic transmission. Additional underside photos can be seen in the gallery along with those showing hardtop removal tools and an OEM tool roll. Recent upgrades and maintenance includes a new soft top, Bilstein shocks, a new muffler, tires and brakes, rear spring pads, warm-up regulator, brake hoses, and an oil service.

@Aymang to the best of my knowledge, the hardtop doesn't leak and neither does the soft top. The owner avoids driving in the rain so this hasn't been tested thoroughly but the lack of water damage indicates that it stays dry
Thank you. One more question, do you know if it leaks from the hard or the soft top?
@Aymang hello, yes the car is drivable. Drives, shifts, and stops very nicely and is ready to go cruise! I believe the air conditioning needs to be recharged as it is not working right now. I'm here for any other questions as well.
Hi, is it drivable and if the ac works? Thank you

Just wanted to say hello and welcome to all of the bidders and viewers. This beautiful R107 450SL is genuinely one of the most honest and true examples I've had the pleasure of driving and working on. With the way the market is moving on the R107 chassis, it is getting more and more difficult to find a clean, rust free, and nice running 450SL that doesn't have a rocky backstory/history. I hope the new owner will enjoy it and love it as much as it has been over the past 40+ years. I am here to help answer any comments or direct messages and can provide pics/videos of whatever you'd like to see. Thanks and enjoy the auction! -Stone
