This 1987 Mercedes-Benz 560SL was originally sold to the first owner in California before being purchased by the seller in 1989 when the car had only 470 miles. Finished in Willow Green Metallic (261) over Beige Leather (275), power is provided by a naturally aspirated 5.5-liter V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Features include a removable paint-matched original hardtop, original Becker head unit, air conditioning with automatic climate control, and a black soft top. The seller reports all fluids were changed within the last year and a timing chain service performed less than 10 years ago. The car currently shows only 19k miles, 18,700 of which have been added by the seller. This example is now offered by the current owner in California with recent service records, factory literature, an original tool kit, two keys and a clean California title.

The body is finished in Willow Green Metallic (261) and features a color-matched removable hardtop. Exterior features include a retractable black soft top, chrome mirror caps, North American-spec headlamps and bumpers, and front fog lamps. The seller notes a small blemish on the front and rear bumper and the trunk-mounted third brake light lens is cracked. The Carfax report lists an an accident causing damage to the rear of the car in October 2018, however, the seller has owned the car since 1989 and is unaware of any accidents during that time and believes the reporting to be in error. Detailed photos under and around the rear of the car have been provided in support.

This 560SL wears original chrome 15x7” Gullideckel wheels with matching chrome center caps wrapped in Michelin tires measuring 205/65 on all four corners. The seller notes two wheels are beginning to show minor peeling on the chrome finish.

The cabin is upholstered in Beige Leather (275) across the seats, door cards, armrest, head rests, and shift knob. The dashboard shows no cracks and the Burl wood trim on the center console and dash shows well with no fading. Additional features include the original Becker head unit, air conditioning with automatic climate control, and an electrically adjustable passenger side mirror.

The analog odometer shows 19,170 original miles of which 18,700 were added by the seller since 1989. Instrumentation includes VDO gauges featuring a 170-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer with a 6k-rpm redline, and an analog odometer with trip function. Additional gauges include fuel level, oil pressure, fuel economy, and an analog clock. The clock and tachometer are reported to be inoperable.

The 5.5-liter M117 V8 was rated at 227 horsepower and 279 lb-ft of torque when new and is paired to a 722.3 automatic four-speed transmission. The seller reports that all fluids were changed within the last year and a timing chain service performed within the last 10 years. Service records dating back to 1989 will accompany the car.

The Carfax report lists linear mileage updates, registration history in California and Alabama, and one accident causing damage to the rear of the car in October 2018 which the seller believes to be reporting in error. Thank you to everyone for the bids and interest! I was able to track down some information regarding the rear end accident reported in 2018. It was the result of a parking lot fender bender and no paint work was required. I also confirmed this with the insurance agency who handled the claim and the airbag deployment reporting is in error. I have started a claim with Carfax to have this corrected and wanted to share this information to put minds at ease! I assure this is an incredibly well cared for example in a very rare color.
