The car is finished in Brilliant Silver (744) and features the desirable SL1 AMG Sport package which includes an AMG front spoiler, side skirts, and a rear apron along with factory 18” AMG monoblock wheels. This example also features an electric black soft top, xenon headlights, fog lights, and a highly desirable and valuable panoramic hardtop. The color matched factory panoramic roof is in excellent condition as seen in the photos. The seller notes minor rock chips have been filled with touch-up paint and the history shows minor damage reported in 2015 to the rear right of the SL. Both bumpers have been repainted.
Factory staggered 18” AMG wheels are wrapped in Goodyear Eagle F1 tires showing 2013 date codes. The tires measure 245/40 up front and 275/35 in the rear. The wheels appear free of any significant rash, curbing or peeling.

Amenities include power-adjustable heated front seats with position memory, automatic climate control, a wind deflector, a factory cassette stereo, and an auto-dimming mirror. The LCD screen on the factory head unit shows well without any missing pixels. The seller reports all interior functions operate as intended including the stereo, all lights, pano top shades, and ancillary screens.
A leather-wrapped and wood steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer, 7k-rpm tachometer, and clock along with gauges for fuel level, instant economy, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The digital odometer indicates just over 31k miles, approximately 3,000 of which were added by the seller.
The 5.0-liter M113 V8 was factory-rated at 315 horsepower and 347 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission. The Carfax report shows some documented dealer servicing and most recently an oil service was performed. Detailed photos of the engine bay and undersides are included in the gallery.
The Carfax report shows linear mileage updates, the aforementioned minor damage report, and registration history in New Jersey and Georgia. This 2001 Mercedes-Benz SL500 Sport is offered with two key remotes, factory literature, service manual, leather service booklet, previous records, a Carfax report, and a clean New Jersey title.

I love the SL R 129 and this is by far the cleanest one i've seen around.

The Sport, next to the Silver Arrow, are the ultimate R129 to have, and at 31K miles, definitely a good investment

@Fastandfurious Hello sorry for the delay but here are two videos of the hardtop popping in and out of the car and the soft top opening and closing on this 2001 SL 500. https://youtu.be/FCKiyTxCKfE https://youtu.be/ScFYqqarhEg
Great car!! Fabulous. How do the 4 airbag replacements I see in DEC, 2015 correlate (a result of impact) to the damage listed on the Carfax in 2015?

@Mercedes55 from my knowledge of the front and back bumper were repainted also the rear passenger panel.
Do you know what was painted and/or repaired on the Carfax damage report? Beautiful SL!
Gorgeous SL! This really is the perfect spec.

This is a perfect example of a very clean SL. Very well taken care of the car.
One thing I did forget to mention about the car that is not on the description is that I installed new Zimmermann rotors and brakes pads to all four wheels on the car. I will be posting the date and the receipt on when the work was done on the car in 2022.
@Jsayegh sure no problem if you’d like to come Sunday around 12 PM I’ll send you the address where to come to me to see the vehicle. I already have someone else coming to see the vehicle the same time and day as well..
Can I see this weekend?
@Archie222 Please let me know if I can check the car out this weekend.
@Germancarfan1 I also forgot to mention that there was a paint correction done when the ceramic Pro was applied to the car.
@Germancarfan1 thank you the car is ceramic pro’d . Also, I always conditioned the seats once a year it’s was always garage kept and only took it out on nice days.
@archie222 Just saw this post on Instagram. This is probably one of the cleanest R129's around with SL1 & SL2 package, pano top, and low miles. I'm roughly an hour away, would I be able to stop by to check it out? Also, did you do ceramic coating? Thanks, and Goodluck
@Archie222 thanks!
@Fastandfurious I will get you a video in a day or two of the soft top opening and closing also of how the hardtop latches on and off the car. I also reached out to the guys at MB market to upload some more photos like the two keys that I have for the car also service records, and the original window sticker of the car.
@Archie222 that’s going to be tough for prospective buyers in an auction where there’s no evidence of the soft top condition. There is plenty of time to remove the top and take photos.
$5,000 bid placed by @Fatameh1
Hello fast and furious. I actually do have a picture with the soft top closed. The softer top opens and closes perfectly. Even the hardtop latches perfect to the car when taking it off or putting it on.
Any pictures of the Soft Top? Do all hydraulics work in hard top removal and latching? Can you provide videos? They are prone to failing and it’s an expensive fix. Thanks! I’ll be watching / bidding.
