This 2002 Mercedes-Benz G500 was purchased new by the original owner in Texas in 2002 and comes finished in Black Opal Metallic (9189) over Gray leather. Power is provided by a 5.0-liter M113 V8 mated to a five-speed automatic transmission with a dual-range transfer case. Equipment includes triple locking differentials, a sunroof, tinted windows, a receiver hitch, dual-zone automatic climate control, and heated front and rear seats. This vehicle underwent an extensive professional pick-up conversion to the rear using OEM sheet metal and glass in 2009. In 2021, the head lights/tail lights and mirrors were upgraded to 2019 spec. In 2022, a 4” Euro Spec lift, KC lights, Rotiform wheels and Nitto Grappler tires were added by Big John’s Performance of Valencia California. This one-of-a-kind, rust-free example has lived in California since new and is now offered in Los Angeles by the selling dealer with manufacturer’s literature, two remote keys, a clean Carfax report, and a clean California title.
The truck is finished in Black Opal Metallic (9189) and features KC Gravity LED Pro6 Auxillary Lights, OEM fog lights, a 24" App-Controlled (Type S LED) Smart Light Bar mounted to the roof, Custom roof rack, tinted rear windows, running boards, a bed-mounted spare tire carrier, and a receiver hitch. The custom pickup conversion utilized OEM Mercedes-Benz sheet metal and glass is said to be of extremely high quality according to the seller. The rear bed features a right-swinging bed door and is lined with Line-X bed liner. The paint on the front half of the vehicle is believed to be all original and presents nicely in the photos. The headlights, taillights and side view mirrors were upgraded to that of a 2019 G-class in 2021 and the grill was painted gloss black at that time. The headlights feature LASFIT Wireless H7 White LED 6000k Bulbs and both the front driver and rear passenger window regulators were also replaced in 2021.
Five 18x9 Rotiform STL Cast Monoblock Wheels are finished in gloss black and were installed in 2022 by Big John’s Performance. All five wheels are wrapped in 35” Nitto Trail Grappler tires measuring 35x12.50 and showing 2021 date codes. The truck is equipped with an Electronic Stability Program (ESP) from the factory and has a 4” Euro Spec lift system installed. Fox 2.0 Shocks complete the suspension conversion and are visible in the photos. A Universal Tire Spare Mount installed in the bed (with wheel/tire) with a Universal Black Strap Kit is installed in the bed to secure the fifth Rotiform wheel/tire.
The cabin features power-adjustable and heated front seats as well as heated rear seats upholstered in Gray leather, while burl walnut trim accents the steering wheel, center console, and passenger-side grab bar. Equipment includes dual-zone automatic climate control and an electric sunroof. The original COMAND unit has been replaced with a modern Pioneer touchscreen and auxiliary switches for the additional lighting are mounted to the right of the steering wheel.
The wood & leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel fronts a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and a fuel level gauge. The digital odometer indicates 79k original miles.
The 5.0-liter M113 V8 was factory rated at 292 horsepower and 336 lb-ft of torque when new. Power is sent to all four wheels via a five-speed automatic transmission, a dual-range transfer case, and three locking differentials. The Carfax shows regular dealer servicing before and after the pick-up conversion as well as numerous cosmetic and mechanical upgrades.
The truck is supplied with manufacturer’s literature and two remote keys. The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage reported and lists history in California since new.

@stuart_mcla no rush! It’s not actually important to me bidding, more of a curiosity.
@traveling_broker - I am not sure - I can certainly have it taken to a local weigh station, but it won't be until tomorrow morning.

Any idea on current weight. I assume it is a good bit heavier than stock. If this only had an m113k and eurowise portals it would be perfect.

@Protour2003 Thanks for the question. I had an associate fly out to Texas and drive the truck back to Los Angeles...it was evident that the previous set up was not ideal for this kind of trip, especially with pure off road tires installed. Since the work was completed with the suspension and new wheels with road tires, the truck rides very nicely for daily driving. The longer wheelbase definitely helps contribute to the enhanced ride quality over a regular G500.
Nice looking truck! Can you tell us how she drives with the suspension upgrades and longer wheelbase? Assuming this has "softened" the ride?

@ABLatham - Hi there...I totally agree with you on the want but probably don't need...it is wicked cool!!! When we worked with Big Johns Performance, they obtained the suspension components from a company called Eurowise who are well known for providing top quality suspension components (and other areas) for VW, Porsche and Mercedes. Some of the components they supplied were Front Radius Arms, Coil Springs and Shocks...from memory, the lift on the suspension was 4" and components not produced and supplied by Eurowise were supplied by Fox. Everything is rock solid underneath! Hope that this helps.
Oh man...this is the exact combination of things I definitely don't need but may not be able to live without. haha. Really nice looking conversion. Any idea what kind of components were used underneath with the suspension mods? Thanks
Good morning everyone and thank you for stopping by to take a look at this incredible G500 pick-up conversion. Thank you to the early bidders. Should you have any questions or would like to view this truck in person, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
