This 2003 Mercedes-Benz SL500 is registered in Florida where it has lived since new. Finished in Black (040) over a Black leather (201) interior, power is provided by a 5.0-liter M113 V8 engine paired with a five-speed transmission. Additional features include Keyless-Go, optional Sport package, a painted electric folding hardtop, dual-zone automatic climate control, Bose Premium sound system, and COMAND infotainment system. This SL500 shows 41,270 miles on the odometer and is now offered by the seller with factory literature, original window sticker, a clean Carfax report, 2 factory keys, and a clean Florida title.
The body is finished in Black (040) and includes Keyless-Go, a painted electric folding hardtop, and the Sport package which includes an AMG sculpted front air dam, AMG side skirts and rear apron. The Seller notes small blemishes in the paint on the bottom of the front bumper on the passenger side. The Carfax report shows no accidents or damage and all paint is believed to be original. Detailed photos are available in the gallery.
The factory 18” AMG monoblock wheels are wrapped in 255/40 front and 285/35 rear Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 tires. Cross drilled front rotors are accompanied by Mercedes-branded calipers as seen in the gallery.
The interior is trimmed in Black leather (201) with Burl wood veneers adorning the center console and doors, finished by an accompanying leather shift knob and steering wheel. Amenities include dual-zone automatic climate control, Bose Premium sound system, and COMAND infotainment system. The seller notes that the headliner was removed and reinstalled in July 2022. The car is a former Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) example and the manufacturer sticker remains on the inside of the driver door sill.
The multi-function leather/wood steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer and a 7k-rpm tachometer with a 6k-rpm redline. Additional gauges include coolant temperature and fuel level with a digital odometer currently indicating 41,270 miles.
The naturally aspirated 5.0-liter M113 V8 engine produced 302 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque when new. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a five-speed automatic transmission with Touch Shift to allow for manual gear selection. Recent service on this SL500 includes drive belt replacement and repairs to the shift linkage in July 2022, replacement of the crankshaft position sensor in January 2022, and a new fuel filter in November 2021.
A walk around video is viewable below.
The newly redesigned R230 SL debuted with the 2003 model year and featured striking body lines with a slightly more rounded and modern design. With an original MSRP of over $94k with options, many R230's of this caliber were not used as daily transportation and more likely a second (or third, or fourth) car. This particular SL500 is finished in a timeless Black over Black color combination which elevates the sophistication of the SL even more. Not only is this R230 well-optioned, the car also has only 41k miles which is truly negligible for the M113 V8 engine and 722.6 transmission. For every R230 that has been neglected and put on aftermarket wheels, there are ones like this, well-preserved and properly maintained with a clean appearance and low miles. No matter the occasion, you can’t go wrong with an AMG sport package R230 SL that’s becoming more and more appealing with each new design that comes out. Stay classic.

Beautiful car! In the area that has the parking release (left of the steering wheel) , is the plastic cover broken/misplaced?

Wow …. Beautiful car. Classic styling and a car that will always be “in style” …. I do like it. However, for such low mileage I wonder why the drivers seat is so “stretched”out or “wrinkled”? Thank you.
