This 2004 Mercedes-Benz CLK55 AMG Cabriolet was sold new at Mercedes-Benz of San Jose, CA in December 2003 and has remained a lifelong California car. This C209 AMG wears all of its original Brilliant Silver paint (744U) and is complimented by Black leather (251A) hides and a matching black soft top. The car is powered by a 5.4-liter M113 V8 which is mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. Noteworthy features include an AMG styling package (772), Bi-Xenon headlights, heated and multicontour front seats with memory, and COMAND navigation. The car is fully smogged and recently received a fresh oil & filter change along with new tires. Now showing 67,130 original miles, this AMG cabriolet is offered by the seller with a clean Carfax report, factory literature, COMAND Road Map CD’s, and a clean California title.

The body is finished in classic Brilliant Silver (744U) and has been fully preserved as the seller notes no paintwork has been done to the vehicle. The exterior presents well and is free of any blemishes. Bi-Xenon headlamps are clear and show no signs of fading or sun exposure, as does the power soft top which is a deep black and without tears. CLK55’s received an AMG styling package featuring  a sculpted front spoiler, side skirts and rear apron. AMG specific wheels and dual-tip exhaust complete the exterior.

Dual five-spoke 17” AMG staggered wheels are wrapped with fresh tires measuring 225/45 in the front and 245/40 out back. This W209 AMG has cross drilled rotors tucked behind the front wheels and wears AMG branded calipers. Additional pictures of the wheel and tire set up can be seen in the gallery.

The interior is trimmed in Black leather (251A) with aluminum trim accents along the center console, dash, and doors. Al Designo Alcantara headliner further sets this CLK55 apart from non-AMG models. The perforated multi-contour seats are heated with memory and feature additional bolstering and special AMG badging. Additional interior features include COMAND infotainment with navigation, Keyless-Go and dual zone climate control.

A multi-function four spoke steering wheel with manual shift buttons sits in front of a 200-mph speedometer, 7k-rpm tachometer, and analog clock that have an AMG-only silver finish. The digital odometer indicates 67,080 original miles and additional gauges include fuel level and coolant temperature.

The naturally aspirated 5.4-liter M113 V8 was AMG-tuned to turn out 362 horsepower and 376 lb-ft of torque when new. Power is sent to the rear wheels by a five-speed automatic transmission which also allows for touch-shift manual gear selection. The seller notes that an oil change has recently been performed, as well as an alignment with new tires on all corners in preparation for the sale.

The MB Market Insights

W209 body CLK’s represent a great value today and M113-equipped AMG models are easily the most bang for your buck when it comes to anything that is Affalterbach tuned. Many early 2000’s AMGs saw ‘Kompressor' supercharging that added additional complexity, but W209 models (like W203 C55’s) kept the smooth goodness and longevity of the naturally aspirated M113 V8. The CLK55 AMG represents added sporting features over the standard CLK500 without the additional servicing costs that are often associated with AMG vehicles. This particular AMG cabriolet hails from corrosion-free California and has two long term owners which we like to see. Room for four, a six-ply power soft top and AMG goodies make for unbeatable versatility and offer practicality over similar looking SLs.

The rear glass window in those soft tops are a nice touch. Never realized they weren't plastic like my R129.
