This 1987 Mercedes-Benz 560SEC is finished in Black Pearl Metallic (199) over Gray Leather (268) and powered by a 5.5-liter V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. The current owner and seller acquired the coupe recently and has added approximately 500 miles since acquisition of the car. Features include a sunroof, automatic climate control, power accessories, headlamp washers, disc brakes, and original 15″ wheels. Recent service includes a new starter, an engine oil service with filter, new tires, as well as servicing of the AC and SLS systems. This W126 shows 139k kilometers (86k miles) and is offered with over 10 years of service records, factory literature, two keys, the original Becker Grand Prix head unit (uninstalled), a clean Carfax report and a clean Ontario title.
This coupe is finished in Black Pearl Metallic (199) with gray lower cladding and bumpers. Features include a titling electric sunroof, automatic antenna, chrome trim, and headlamp washers. The seller notes that there are two small corrosion spots on this car. The first is below the right front turn signal, and the other is in the right rear wheel well. The seller also notes slight fading of the paint on the roof with various imperfections appropriate for the cars age. Original stamps and VIN plates remain intact and can be seen in the gallery below. The included Carfax shows no accidents or damage since new.
Silver 15″ Gullideckel wheels are installed and wear new 205/65R15 Bridgestone tires. ABS complements the four-wheel disc brakes and a servicing of the rear SLS system was recently performed.
The interior is trimmed in Gray Leather (268) with matching door cards, center armrest, and carpets. The leather is complemented with burl wood trim accents on the dash, center console, and door panels. The seller notes that the gray headliner was replaced in the past but would need to be done again to be perfect. Amenities include power-adjustable front seats with position memory, automatic climate control, cruise control, an analog clock, and power accessories. The original radio was replaced with a Sony unit, but the original will come with the car.
A leather-wrapped four-spoke airbag steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation including a 260-kph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6k-rpm redline. Additional analog gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and instant economy are also present. All of this is complemented by the switchable dual-tone “town and country” horn. The six-digit mechanical odometer shows 139k kilometers (86k miles), 500 of which have been added by the seller.
The 5.5-liter M117 V8 sends power to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. Recent service includes a new starter, an engine oil service with filter, new tires, as well as servicing of the AC and SLS systems.
The MB Market Insights
In his own words, Bruno Sacco recalled the C126 as the car with the most beautiful front end he had ever designed. Maybe that explains why one of the two cars in Sacco’s personal collection was indeed a late model year C126. This coupe was a greatly anticipated replacement to the last grand touring coupe offered, the SLC class. Without offering a coupe in the W116 platform, Stuttgart wanted a Grand Tourer returned to the S-Class lineup. Sacco delivered - he was able to encapsulate the elegance of the trademark Mercedes pillarless silhouette into an entirely redesigned Autobahn cruising machine. These Grand Touring coupes have been gaining popularity in recent years as demand for cars from the analog era has continued to creep up. This particular example features a desirable color combination and has been properly enjoyed with a stack of prior service history records; making it the perfect choice for anyone who wants to be able to drive their classic Benz daily without feeling too guilty.
Are there any photos of the service records? Have the chain guides been replaced at all? It’s not as common as some people claim, but when the brittle plastic guides break it can be catastrophic for the engine. Also, any idea as to the cause of the high idle condition? Beyond the first few seconds at startup the idle should settle down to steady 550-600 rpm. Do the seatbelt presenters work as they should? It can be a costly repair or DIY. There are sellers online who will manufacture 3D printed gears for the presenter motor. It’s just a pain to access it. Does the antenna come out at 1/2 and full mast? Also, if you’ve only driven it 500 miles, what is motivating you to sell so soon?
Other than that, lovely car! A little bit here and there to be fixed cosmetically, as would be expected of a 35 year old 80-90k mile car.

Pretty in Black Pearl. IT's tough to get an idea of this color in photos but rest assured the new owner will be happy once they see it in sunlight!
