The exterior is finished in Smoke Silver Metallic (702) and features contrasting lower body cladding separated by chrome trim. Exterior equipment includes a power sliding sunroof, a heated rear window, headlamp wiper/washers, front fog lamps and a power passenger-side mirror. A lower body cladding trim piece is missing on the rear passenger side. The seller reports that the rear bumper and trunk were replaced after a collision which occurred in 2012. No current signs of rust or damage are present on the vehicle.
The cabin is trimmed in Black Leather (261) with matching black floor mats and Zebrano wood trim which lines the center console, dashboard and door panels. The wood trim shows no signs of cracking or fading. Both front seats are power adjustable with power-adjustable headrests and include three-position memory. Signs of wear are visible on the driver-side seat bolster. Interior amenities include central locking, cruise control, a power-adjustable steering column, automatic climate control, a high-performance audio system, a folding center armrest and a passenger-side airbag. The seller reports that the actuator for the center vents is not functioning and that while the AC system holds pressure, the compressor is not working.
The leather wrapped steering wheel frames analog instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature and oil pressure. The six-digit odometer shows approximately 201k miles from new. The seller notes that LED lights in the instrument cluster are from a previously installed radar detection system along with the dial in the center console.
This W126 is powered by a turbocharged 3.5-liter straight-six diesel engine which is rated for 134 horsepower and 229 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. Maintenance performed in February 2023 included an engine oil and filter change, a new fuel filter, a new alternator and a head gasket replacement. Extensive service history from the prior owner is included with the vehicle.
This 350SD was sold new by Mercedes-Benz of Salem, Oregon showing three owners with registration reported in Oregon, Nevada, Washington, Tennessee and California. Linear mileage updates are reported from new with the aforementioned accident shown in 2012 with no airbags deployed. This turbo diesel-powered W126 is now offered for sale by the current owner in Miami, Florida with the original window sticker, partial service records, both keys and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
An interior/exterior walk-around video has been provided by the seller below.
After offering the first turbo diesel passenger car to ever be sold in the W116 chassis, Mercedes continued their flagship diesel lineup for the W126 including turbocharged variants for the US market. With approximately 2k units produced for its two model year run, the short wheelbase 350SD is more rare than its long-wheelbase counterpart and offers more agility and ease of use in cities for parking. While this example shows over 200k miles, it has clearly been well cared for with a clean exterior and interior showing recent maintenance and extensive service history. For an enthusiast looking for the best in fuel-efficient flagship luxury, this 350SD may just be the perfect fit.
