This 1991 Mercedes-Benz 560SEL was purchased new through Crossroads Mercedes-Benz of Roanoke, Virginia where it resided with the first owner through 2021 when it was acquired by the selling dealer. It is finished in Arctic White (147) over Gray Leather (268) and powered by a 5.5-liter M117 V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Features include a power-operated tilting and sliding sunroof, automatic climate control, cruise control, a Becker AM/FM cassette stereo, power-adjustable heated front seats, heated rear seats, a two-tone “city/country” horn, and 15″ Gullideckel wheels. Recent service includes a fuel tank cleaning and two new fuel pumps. This W126 now shows 78k original miles and is offered by the selling dealer and owner with service records, original tool roll, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Virginia title.
The long-wheelbase body of this flagship S-class is finished in Arctic White (147) with matching lower cladding and retains its original US-market lighting and bumpers front and rear. The lights show normal fading and clouding in clear plastic areas. The sunroof shows small paint chaips along with a spot near the rear license plate that's showing minor surface rust. Features include a power-operated sunroof, headlight washers and wipers, and bright trim and badges. Wear marks on the jack-hole covers and a ding in the rear driver side door can be seen in the gallery below.
Factory 15″ Gullideckel alloy wheels are mounted with Michelin Energy MXV4 tires showing consistent dry rot and cracking. Tires will need to be replaced before driving. The car is equipped with power-assisted steering and four-wheel disc brakes.
The cabin is trimmed in Gray Leather (268) upholstery with a matching lower dashboard, door panels, and carpets. The leather wrapped steering wheel and upper dash are finished in Black. Original Burl wood trim veneer accents the dashboard, center console and door panels and shows cracking around the shifter panel veneer. Imperfections and normal wear in the cabin are highlighted in the gallery. Additional equipment includes automatic climate control, cruise control, a Becker Grand Prix AM/FM cassette stereo, power-adjustable heated front seats, heated rear seats, and power windows and locks. The original leather presents well with no tears visible. The Becker head unit is noted as non-operational and AC will need to be recharged.
The leather-wrapped airbag steering wheel fronts VDO instrumentation consisting of a 170-mph speedometer, a tachometer with an inset analog clock, and a combination gauge indicating coolant temperature, oil pressure, instant economy, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 78k original miles.
The fuel-injected 5.5-liter M117 V8 was factory rated at 238 horsepower and 288 lb-ft of torque when new. Recent service includes a fuel tank cleaning and two new fuel pumps. The seller notes this car does run but should receive a complete mechanical check before being driven on the road. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission.
This W126 now shows 78k original miles and is offered by the selling dealer and owner with some service records, original tool roll, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Virginia title.

@MBZTECH If you message me directly, I can send some photos of that area but no excessive overspray. The paint and clear coat just seem a little discoloured in that area. This is likely from sitting outside but it could also be from some paint work, some time ago.
Thanks. Any chance of some photos of those areas? Is there overspray on the gaskets, etc? I tried to zoom in on the available photos but couldn't really see.... thanks again...
@MBZTECH Unfortunately, I don't have access to a paint gauge but I believe that the trunk and the rear C pillars of the car may have been repainted at some point. Other than that, I don't see any signs of panel repaint.
Seller, are there any panels that have been painted? Any chance you have access to a paint gauge and can take some pictures? Thanks! GLWTA
I have been getting a few questions regarding the Air Conditioning system of this car. Yes, it HAS been converted from R12 to R134 fittings. I will have some photos uploaded as proof of this. Thank y'all for your interest and feel free to message or comment any further questions!

@maxwellJP it has been off the road for a while so probably brakes and drive train rubber. I'd have a mechanic look it over to make sure there aren't any surprises but overall, it shouldn't take much
@stonebelvin aside from tires what are immediate needs?

@Alt767Gelt thank you very much for sharing and your kind words!
I’ve long had an aversion to white cars. I guess, from childhood I associated them with the cars driven by the telephone company employees. Nothing wrong with a company car just not something one longs for. One day, around 1988-1990, I was sitting in my dad’s 1981 300SD waiting for him to grab something at a convenience store (probably cigarettes). Out of the corner of my eye I see an artic white 560SEL (with blue interior) pull up next to us. It was as if this car was twice the size of our SWB SD. It looked striking. It didn’t hurt that my dad knew the man driving it and told me that he was a pilot(which is what I wanted to be from age 6). From that day on, my “exception “ to the white car aversion has been the MB 126. This one looks lovely. GLWTA!
@Asbyman yes all of the gauges are working accurately with the exception of the fuel gauge.

Hello and welcome to all of the viewers and bidders. We are happy to present this fabulous 560SEL “barn find”. Parked in the early 2000’s, the car spent a large period of time off the road and this is why the mileage is very low for a car this age. The car was garaged during that time, and was “revived” in 2008. After parking the car again, it sat in the mountains of Roanoke, with a bad fuel pump, until 2021. The car runs solid and almost everything works as it should. The seats are still soft and pliable and the dash has no visible cracks. With a decent going through… this would be a wonderful cruiser! Enjoy the auction and I will be here to answer any comments or direct messages. -Stone
