This 2001 Mercedes-Benz SL500 Sport was purchased by the seller on The MB Market in January 2023. The car new resides in Utah with just under 117k miles on the odometer. Finished in Black (040) over Black Nappa Leather (231), power is provided by a 5.0-liter V8 mated to a five-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. Equipment includes a power soft top with a removable paint-matched hardtop, AMG body styling, xenon headlights, power adjustable front seats, ESP stability control, cruise control and a wood/leather steering wheel. A Continental bluetooth head unit was installed along with a new subwoofer and speakers. Recent maintenance in October 2025 included a new radiator, coolant flush, and oil service. The car has been kept inside a climate controlled garage under the seller's care and is now offered for sale with a clean Carfax report and a clean Utah title.

The exterior is finished in Black (040) and features AMG body styling including a sculpted front air dam, side skirts and rear apron. The black fabric soft top is power operated and comes with a removable paint-matched hardtop. Exterior equipment includes power adjustable side mirrors, integrated front fog lamps, xenon headlamps and a headlamp wiper/washer system. The seller notes minor scratches and rock chips on the front, a cracked passenger-side fog lamp and a dent in the passenger-side quarter panel. A dent is noted directly under the driverside rear taillight on the corner and detailed photos of the exterior are provided in the gallery. Photos showing both tops are provided and some staining is noted on the soft top. 

Fitted are staggered 18” AMG Monoblock wheels which wear Continental ExtremeContact Sport 02 tires measuring 245/40 front and 275/35 rear. The tires were replaced under current ownership in October 2022. Signs of curb rash are visible on the wheels and a spare tire can be found mounted in the trunk.

The cabin is upholstered in Black Nappa Leather (231) with Burl Walnut wood trim which lines the center console, steering wheel and door panels. The wood trim shows some signs of cracking. Both front seats are power adjustable with three-position memory with the driver’s side linked to the mirror position. Interior equipment includes Bose audio, an aftermarket Continental head unit with Bluetooth, ESP stability control, automatic climate control and a garage door opener. The driver side air vent shows a small crack and the sunglasses holder is said to have a broken button but is still openable. The trim piece surrounding the interior lights is cracked as detailed in the photos along with staining on the headliner of the soft top. 

The wood/leather steering wheel fronts a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock and gauges for fuel level, economy, coolant temperature and oil pressure. The digital odometer reads just under 117k miles and the seller states the BAS ESP light comes on intermittently. 

This R129 comes powered by a 5.0-liter M113 V8 which is factory rated at 302 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission. Maintenance at the beginning of 2023 included a new crank-position sensor, cabin air filter and air intake filters. The hood-insulation pads were replaced with aftermarket insulation. In preparation for the sale, a new radiator was installed along with a coolant flush and oil service in October 2025. 

The Carfax report shows linear mileage updates from new along 17 service history records and no accidents or damage reports. This 2001 SL500 Sport is now offered for sale by the current owner in Utah with a paint-matched removable hardtop, a spare tire, a clean Carfax report and a clean Utah title.
