This 2003 Mercedes-Benz SLK32 AMG was sold new through Mercedes-Benz of Shrewsbury in Massachusetts in January 2003. The current owner purchased the car in 2010 and has added approximately 24k miles under their ownership. The included history shows various dealer and independent maintenance since new. Finished in Brilliant Silver Metallic (744) over AMG Anthracite Leather (881), this AMG Roadster is powered by a supercharged 3.2-liter M112 V6 paired to a five-speed automatic transmission. The odometer currently shows 59,740 original miles. Features include xenon headlamps, cruise control, dual-zone climate control, a power folding hardtop, heated seats, and an original Becker head unit. The car is now being offered by the seller with an included Carfax report showing regular service, the factory toolkit, manufacturer’s literature, one key, and a clean Pennsylvania title.
The exterior is finished in Brilliant Silver Metallic (744) and features AMG styling including sculpted bumpers, side skirts, and a lip spoiler on the decklid. According to the attached Carfax, this SLK was involved in an accident in 2007 with damage incurred to the right side of the car. The damage was professionally repaired and no major structural damage was reported. The body and paintwork displays nicely and shows no current signs of damage. Exterior features include a power folding hardtop, front fog lamps, and Xenon headlamps with integrated washers while the rear is finished with dual chrome AMG exhaust tips.
The factory staggered, dual-spoke 17” AMG wheels are fitted and wear new Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ tires. The original wheels show no signs of curb rash and measure 17x7.5” in the front and 17x8.5” in the rear.
On the interior, the seats, steering wheel, shift knob, and door cards, are upholstered in original AMG Anthracite Leather (881) with an Anthracite upper dash and center console. Towards the armrest, the center console does show some wear in the finish as normally seen on R170's. Black Birdseye Maple veneer accents the center console, shift surround, and door cards. The veneer shows no signs of cracks and minimal fading. Original SLK32 AMG floor mats showing the embroidered logo and foot pad are included in the sale and pictured in the gallery below.
The sculpted leather steering wheel frames a 180-mph analog speedometer, 7k-rpm tachometer, and a digital odometer with trip function showing 59,740 miles. Additional gauges include fuel level and coolant temperature, along with a digital clock and temperature gauge. The digital LCD screens present as they should and show no signs of de-pixelation.
The AMG-tuned 3.2-liter M112 supercharged V6 was rated at 349 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque when new and is paired with a 722.6 automatic five-speed transmission. The hand assembled power plant from Affalterbach features a twin-screw supercharger and dual intakes on either side of the engine. Approximately 562 SLK32 AMG’s were built for the 2003 model year.
The car is now being offered by the seller with an included Carfax report showing regular service, the factory toolkit, manufacturer’s literature, one key, and a clean Pennsylvania title.
At the time of conception, AMG was producing a complete line of heavy weights powered by supercharged powerhouses including the world's fastest production sedan. That said, it’s no surprise the SLK32 AMG was as enjoyable as it was. The difference, however, was the nimble nature of the R170 chassis compared to the SL of the era. The SLK32 felt equally at home on the highways and byways but definitely had an advantage in the mountains and canyons. We love seeing these cars cared for because often it took a true Roadster enthusiast to appreciate the complete spectrum of performance and enjoyment offered by the SLK32 AMG. With only 59k miles, this R170 AMG is ready for miles of top down fun for the next fortunate owner.
