This 2005 Mercedes-Benz SL500 shows just 54k miles with registration history in Texas, Colorado, New Mexico and North Carolina. Finished in Black Opal Metallic (189) over Stone Leather (205), power is provided by a 5.0-liter V8 mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a power-folding hardtop, Active Body Control, heated and ventilated Dynamic Multicontour seats, Keyless-Go, a wood/leather steering wheel, Bose surround sound and COMAND infotainment with DVD navigation. The original window sticker is included and shows an MSRP of $98,659. Recent maintenance includes an engine oil and filter change, a brake fluid flush and rear pads, rotors and wear sensors. The seller purchased the car in 2011 and has service documentation since that time along with a full VMI from new which are included. This V8 roadster is now offered for sale by the current owner with the original tool kit, both keys, manufacturer’s literature, a clean Carfax report and a clean North Carolina title.
Upgraded 19” AMG five-spoke alloy wheels from a later 2009 SL have been fitted and come wrapped in a set of Bridgestone Potenza RE980 all-season tires measuring 255/35 front and 285/30 rear with 2021 date codes. The Active Body Control suspension is standard and allows for adjustable ride height and stiffness. Maintenance from February 2022 included a brake fluid flush and a new set of rear brake pads, rotors and wear sensors. The space-saver spare tire can be found mounted in the trunk along with the tire inflation kit and the original tool kit.
The cabin is upholstered in Stone Leather (205) and features darker contrasting leather on the upper door panels and dashboard while Chestnut wood trim lines the center console and door panels. The wood trim is in good condition and shows no signs of cracking or discoloration. Both seats are heated and ventilated with three-position memory and feature Dynamic Multicontour seat backs. Additional interior amenities include a leather shift knob with an engine start/stop button, cruise control, COMAND with DVD navigation, Bose surround sound, a CD changer and dual-zone automatic climate control. Matching brown all-weather mats have been installed with the beige floor mats included in their original packaging. The trunk offers partitioned cargo space as well as a cargo net and bag.
The wood/leather steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer along with a 7k-rpm tachometer and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. Configurable digital displays show outside temperature and a digital odometer which currently reads 54k miles, 31k of which were added by the current owner since 2011.
This R230 is powered by a 5.0-liter M113 V8 which outputs 302 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a seven-speed automatic transmission. The most recent engine oil and filter change was carried out by the seller in February of 2022. Underbody photos have been provided by the seller in the photo gallery below.
The Carfax report shows just three owners from new with regular service visits, linear mileage updates, and no accidents or damage reports. A full binder of all service records under current ownership is included along with a VMI showing services from new. This hardtop roadster is now offered with the original tool kit, first aid kit, both keys, original manufacturer’s literature, window sticker, a clean Carfax report and a clean North Carolina title.
Power-top demonstration videos have been provided by the seller below.
The SL is truly a Mercedes icon and has progressed alongside the brand throughout the decades showing the newest in automotive technology and exemplifying the brand’s design ethos. The R230 combined the innovative soft top and removable hardtop of the R129 to create a fully power operated hardtop that provides both the elegant styling of a coupe and simple top-down cruising of a roadster. The trunk included a clever cargo divider which allows for rear storage while still reserving the option to drop the top at the push of a button. This example has been exceptionally well maintained by its MBCA owner who has dutifully documented all service details over the past 12 years of ownership. With just 54k original miles, this example may be one of the best opportunities to add a soon-to-be modern classic to your garage.

@Gamma500 Thank you for your inquiry. I have posted the VMI photos, showing my notes made at the time I purchased the vehicle. None of the ABC components have needed to be replaced or serviced. All components are original to the car and the system is in excellent operating condition. The system was last checked by my independent mechanic when the rear brakes etc. were replaced in February 2022.

Could you post the VMI in readable size or list the ABC components that have been replaced or serviced ? Much Appreciated
@Olsen Thanks and appreciate the comment!
Highly underrated color. The pictures don't do it justice although they do look great! If I didn't already have an SL I'd be all over this. GLWA!
