This 2006 Mercedes-Benz S500 designo Silver Edition was first sold by Palo Alto, Mercedes-Benz of California in April of 2005 and shows registration in California until 2023 when it moved to Illinois. This example is finished in Designo Silver (029) over Exclusive Pebble Leather (575) and shows just over 51k miles from new. Power is provided by a 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 that sends power to the rear wheels via a 7-speed automatic transmission. This W220 S-Class features the AMG Sport Kit including revised bumpers, rocker panels, and wheels, designo extended leather, COMAND infotainment system, rear roller blind, rear side window shades, Parktronic system, four zone climate control, bi-xenon headlamps, keyless-go, heated/ventilated front seats, power-adjustable rear seats with heating/ventilation, and more. The included Carfax report shows 20 service history records, predominantly by one independent specialist. Recent services performed by the dealer have been engine mounts, transmission mount, drive belt, and tensioner. This 2006 Mercedes-Benz S500 designo Silver Edition is now offered for sale by the representing dealer out of Darien, Wisconsin with a clean Carfax, manufacturer’s literature, 51k miles, and a clean Illinois title.
This W220 is painted in Designo Silver (029) and is equipped with a headlight washer system, unblemished bi-xenon headlights which were replaced in 2019, and the exterior Sport kit provides AMG bumpers and side skirts. Keyless entry is seen on all the doors and is reported to operate correctly. A tilt/retracting sunroof is equipped and all the glass was optioned with UV protectant from the factory. Folding auto-dimming side mirrors with puddle lights are seen on the doors and noted to be functional. This W220 came optioned with a sonar based Parktronic system and soft close doors as standard.
Factory staggered split five spoke AMG wheels are finished in silver and wear Pirelli P-Zero All Season tires at the front with 2019 date codes and Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 tires sized at 275/40 rear with 2023 date codes. Stopping power is provided by disk brakes on all four corners with a brake fluid service reported in April of 2021 along with new pads. Each corner is being held up by Airmatic suspension which is adjustable by a toggle on the center console.
The interior of this designo Edition W220 is trimmed in Exclusive Pebble Leather (575) with Pebble Alcantara on the pillars and headliner. Designo Brown Poplar Wood Veneer is present throughout the cabin, seen on the dashboard, steering wheel, door panels, center console, rear climate control binnacle, four grab handles, and shifter. The rear parcel shelf is also wrapped in the same Pebble Beige Leather and shows well without warping. Original designo floor mats adorn each footwell. Four zone climate control is optioned as well as front dual zone heated/ventilated seats along with rear heated/ventilated seats including a recline function. Front seats come with orthopedic functions and all four seats are equipped with vacuum powered lumbar support. Functional Parktronic displays cover the front and rear of the car. Keyless start button is spotted on the designo Pebble wrapped and Poplar inlay shifter handle. COMAND comes standard with Navigation and Bose sound. Some LCD pixels are missing from the AC control panel. There appears to be minimal interior wear as these interiors are prone to discoloration.
The four spoke Pebble Leather and designo Brown Poplar steering wheel frames an instrument cluster showing floating orange needles and a 160-mph speedometer, 6k rpm tachometer, digital clock, gear display, transmission mode indicator, exterior temperature, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The LCD center display shows just over 51k miles. The steering wheel buttons control volume, the center LCD display information, hands free telephone controls, and channel controls.
Power is provided by a 5.0 liter M113 naturally aspirated V8 factory rated 302-horsepower and 339 lb/ft of torque spinning the rear wheels through a 7-speed 722.9 automatic transmission. Recent mechanical items serviced and replaced under the current owner are engine mounts, transmission mount, serpentine belt, and belt tensioner. Services in 2022 at 48k miles include a coolant flush, new battery, fuel filter, oil service, and wiper blades. Regular services are seen on the Carfax.
The clean Carfax reports the S500 being serviced primarily by a single specialty shop until 2023 when the car was sold to the third owner and there are no accidents reported. This 2006 Mercedes-Benz S500 designo Silver Edition is now offered for sale by the selling dealer out of Darien, Wisconsin with a clean Carfax report, manufacturer's literature, and a clean Illinois title.
The seller has included the following videos:
A designo S500 is just the dream spec if you’re looking for a non-AMG W220. The 5.0-liter M113 engine packs a wallop paired with the 722.9 transmission. These will catch quick cars off guard at a red light war if needed. The interiors are arguably the best part. A clean W220 is a really, really nice car. People gave Mercedes-Benz a tough time when the W220 came out, but later iterations were way nicer than early cars and when you add that designo layer of quality on top, you get a perfect car. This is basically an S600 interior. The leather quality is top notch and the wood is interesting and warm to look at. The Bose audio is wonderful and on good tires, this chassis is quieter than a Lexus LS430 on the highway. Paired with the sport package, the good wheels, all the options, and the enormously clean condition of this example, this is a winner top to bottom. The best part? These are slept on. But if you know, you know and you’re part of a small club of Mercedes enthusiasts who are snorting the good stuff while everyone else clamors over basic cars the internet says are good.

Hello everyone! Excited to offer this W220 on BaT. This is an absolutely stunning example, and is in impeccable condition. @Wendall Caught the same bug but went from an '01 SL500 to an '05 S55 and if this had been available when I made the leap it would have been a serious contender. Really, really, sharp and a good bit easier on the wallet.$1,250 bid placed by @jradcliffe
This is the dream W220! I miss the 2005 S500 I used to own, took it to almost 200k miles before catching the AMG bug…this is the exact one I’d want if I was looking!I've been one of the ones snorting the good stuff for the last three years and in my experience most of the concerns about W220's are largely overblown. I now have over 150,000 miles on a Graphite Designo model and have never had or know of any previous pneumatic or electrical issues; the paint and interior still look great (babied for sure, but beautiful) and it runs and handles like a charm. This looks to be a very well cared for example with great equipment and an eye-catching color scheme. Mine looks somewhat sinister while this one carries a certain elegance. Really nice car being offered by a well-established dealer. Good luck! Hopefully it pulls what it deserves.stunner! great color combination and equipment coupled with relatively low miles!
