CICBarkeep bid $16,750
CICBarkeep said:
So, here we are, just over two years later and we love the car more now than the day it was delivered. Had some front suspension issues that needed to be corrected (struts and control arms), but zero issues since. All-in-all it's been surprisingly affordable to own and an absolute joy to drive. We've added an additional 12,000 miles on the clock and have enjoyed every minute of it.
I will keep that in mind! Thanks
These would add a good bit of sportiness and class to any W220 S-Class that didn't require the 9.5" rears. GLWTA!
@DCMotorWerksEverywhere but the Home of CarFax (BaT) it would seem😎 Good luck on your E55. Obviously, a well-cared for example and in IMHO you brought to the right place.
@DCMotorWerks And thanks for the update on the oil leaks!!
@DCMotorWerks I'm a big believer of invoices. Bought a 2005 S55 AMG on this site due in large part to the documentation provided by the seller. He'd chronologically compiled all the work he'd had done on an Excel spreadsheet and included the actual invoices and a VMI with the car. Example here: https://thembmarket.com/2005-mercedes-benz-s55-amg-designo-graphite-edition I've of course continued what he'd done, and all the info will go with the car, assuming I ever decide to sell it.
Lots of invoices, kind of hard to follow. Have the oil leaks been addressed?
Be still my heart.
If only...
@oregonsportsman Good call. The records spoke volumes to me, but this baby got to me first. https://thembmarket.com/2005-mercedes-benz-s55-amg-designo-graphite-edition
If anyone has one in Desert Silver Metallic (693) over Java (234) I am in the market! Java is priority one.
It's not every day you see one this well prepped and presented. Hopefully the seller is rewarded for their efforts. Well done and good luck!
@OscG In my opinion it was WELL worth your wait. Congrats!
Outstanding result in a currently challenging market and worth every dime. Congrats to both buyer and seller.
VERY nice example which deserves serious consideration, and the transparency regards the top hydraulics is appreciated. GLWTA.
Very interested Approximate cost to ship to U.S. Ohio in particular. Thanks
Any chance these would fit a 2000 R129, no sport package?
Well bought sir. Congratulations!
Very early in the auction. I'm sure the seller will mention the issues with the soft top.
I can't attest to this particular car, but I bought a very well-sorted 134k mile '05 just over a year ago and over the last 6k miles or so have become totally smitten. Static50 is correct. It's a truly rewarding automobile. GLWTA.
I'm guessing these will fit a 2005 S55 AMG?
@mikelaca interesting comments. Transmission and engine mounts, flex joints, ABC Rodeo, tranny service, brake fluid, coolant flush and a Bosch 010 intercooler pump. What am I missing? Side note: Base MSRP on this vehicle was $169k.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Frku4zZzOmI Great Buy. Congratulations!!
@MBRallycar At no point did you mention the car had been professionally gone through prior to listing but it's good that came to light when it did. Hopefully you can come to an agreement with the top bidder.
Doubt it'll see many more miles but if so, there's no choice but to assume all fluids and most every belt and hose will need to be changed/replaced right out of the blocks. Either way, displaying records of any of that being done would have gone a long way.
Outstanding auction. Congrats to both parties!!
Research indicates this may be one of the most well-sorted examples that's come to the 'open' market in the last five years and describing the bidding thus far as 'back of the money' is a generous way of putting things. Buyers are out there. Wish I was one of them.
Longroof seekers missed out on this one. Sure wish I'd have seen it sooner. Don't know if it would have hit reserve, but I'd have gone 12.5 and maybe a bit more.
@c_georgy Congrats. Nice grab.
@AMGMB Thanks. Showed the video to the decision-maker earlier, unfortunately to no avail. Very sharp resto though. A lot has gone into this car, and I wish you all the luck in the next few hours!
@AMGMB Any plans to post fly-by and in-car driving videos? Thanks.
Replacing the rear quarter windows looks pretty straightforward. https://w220.wiki/Windows
Have the engine and cabin air filters been replaced during your ownership and are receipts available?
MB initially marketed the 722.6 transmission as sealed for life but has since changed their tune and now suggests a pan off fluid and filter change. As a rule, reputable MB dealers and Indy's won't FLUSH the transmission due to fluid shock concerns, but all I've spoken with now offer the pan off service.
@SFNBNZ I realize it's a different model, but I recently purchased a 135K-mile S55 AMG on this site and my only regret is a 7-mile commute. Wish it was 70. Congrats!! Hope you enjoy this one to the fullest.
@AMGMBForgot to mention. Really sharp example!! Good luck with the pano sale.
@AMGMBThanks for confirming. Really tempting considering most are grey but patience is a virtue. Or so they say.
@ProdigalPetrolHeadMy 2001 is shown as Java (234) but looks very, very close.
Any idea what the interior color code of the original car was?
@gsxr Thanks!! My wife and I are really pumped! A shout out to @maw1124 is due. I don't believe it either. I've seen your comments on other sites which heightened my appreciation of your endorsement here.
Thanks to all. Very excited. Looking forward to hearing from Greg.
@Albert7634 I'll keep an eye out. Ouch! That hurts too!
Can't use a track car but I'm still kicking myself for missing your last C43. Ouch!
Values are completely fluid. Seller sets a price and if someone meets or exceeds that price, the value is set for those particular people on that particular day.
Swear to God, I feel like I know this guy. Is that you @esahmed75? Dig your new persona.
Steal! I am flat-out kicking myself.
60 bucks on eBay and very easy DIY. @Stimzilla There's a guy who follows R129's on BaT you ought to meet. Goes by Esahmed75.
I'm also actively seeking a long-roof and was surprised to see the WASP reference a second time. I didn't and don't attribute its use to the owner but perhaps these comments will lead to its immediate and ongoing removal.
I'm not sure I could've sold at any price. My wife was sure I'd never find out. Congrats! Beautiful!
On my computer picture 79 shows a photo of the rear seats. No orange peel but definitely blue.
Well done. A gorgeous piece of history shared.
@hows I checked your profile and saw you were a dealer. Watching the auction was all for naught anyway, the boss said NO! Enjoy the car!!
@batto513 Too funny. I'm in the exact same boat.
I'm going to tell my wife she broke my heart although something tells me @howS wasn't going to let this one go.
@W210E55I'm finding it difficult to find the issues you mention. As the photos are numbered, perhaps you could clarify. Thanks
I'm assuming the "entertainment centers" can be removed?
Well bought. Congratulations!
