This Mercedes-Benz S550 4Matic Designo was sold new by Mercedes-Benz of West Chester and shows Pennsylvania registration from new. Finished in Arctic White (650) over Designo Sand Leather (X10), power is provided by a 5.5-liter DOHC V8 paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission driving all four wheels. Equipment includes the AMG sport package, Distronic PLUS cruise control, heated and ventilated front and rear seats, a heated steering wheel, Night View Assist, Ipod Integration with Bluetooth interface and much more. Recent service includes an "A"-Service and a new heater control valve. Now showing 75k miles from new, this S550 Designo is being offered in Pennsylvania with the original manufacturer’s literature, extensive dealer service history, VMI, spare tire and a clean Pennsylvania title w/lien.
Upgraded 19” AMG five-spoke alloy wheels wear Continental ContiProContact all-season tires measuring 255/40 on all four corners. The seller reports that the wheels have been refinished and the tires and brakes show 50% life remaining. The wheels are in good condition with no curb rash visible.
The cabin is trimmed in designo Sand (X10) Leather on the seats, center armrest, lower panels and lower dash with contrasting black leather found on the upper dashboard, door panels and center console. Black carpets are also fitted throughout the cabin. Above sits a Cashmere Beige alcantara headliner while Designo Natural Maple wood trim adorns the center console, dashboard and door panels. Interior amenities include power adjustable heated and ventilated front and rear seats, multicontour front seats, four-zone climate control, blind spot assist, Distronic PLUS adaptive cruise control, Parktronic with Parking Guidance, Keyless-GO, Night View Assist, rear side-window blinds, a Harman Kardon surround sound system, and Ipod integration with Bluetooth interface.
The heated wood/leather steering wheel fronts the leather-wrapped gauge cluster which features a centrally-mounted digital display including a 160-mph speedometer with analog gauges sitting on either side. The odometer currently reads 75k miles with 5k being added by the current owner. Controls for the ESP, airmatic suspension, parking sensors and Night View Assist are mounted between the gauge cluster and COMAND infotainment screen.
This W221 is powered by a 5.5-liter DOHC V8 which is factory rated at 382 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels through a seven-speed automatic transmission. A recent A-Service was performed which included an engine oil and filter change. The seller notes an extremely slight vibration from the steering wheel while at idle, but that the engine and trans mounts were recently inspected and are reported to both be in good condition.
This S-Class includes a VMI with the most recent service including a regular A-Service and new heater control valve. The seller notes that the only outstanding issue is an occasional Parking Guidance error which is believed to be caused by the clear bra with everything else reported to be fully functional. Photos of the underbody have been included by the seller in the photo gallery below.
This S550 reports three owners on the Carfax, the second of which being a lease buyout by the original owner, as well as linear mileage updates and dealer service visits from new. A minor damage report is noted from the previous owner in 2020. Included with the sale is the original manufacturer’s literature, original tool kit, first aid kit, spare tire and three keys.
A walkaround and interior tour video is viewable below.
For the customer that isn’t satisfied by simply owning an S-Class, Mercedes-Benz offers their Designo program which allows for exclusive paints, upholsteries and trims allowing customers to tailor their car to their exact specification. For this W221, the original owner opted for an Arctic White paint combined with Sand Beige leather, Maple wood trim, and Designo badges. This S-Class stands out from the crowd as something special, but it wouldn’t be a true flagship if it weren’t for all the best in technology and features. This W221 was optioned with heated and ventilated seats for both front and rear passengers along with some of the coolest tech of the time such as Night View Assist and Distronic PLUS adaptive cruise control. For the enthusiast looking for something more unique, this well-cared for Designo Edition W221 offers a phenomenal driving and ownership experience.

@thedennisking @ClarksonB thanks for the compliments! I shouldn't have taken a picture that close, it's super small and out of the line of sight. I'm not too worried haha! Thank you everyone for the bids and an exciting final few minutes! Best, Anthony

@McMinnow Didn't realize I can't DM specific members, as I have received several DMs about my listing. Quick research estimates motor mount replacement at roughly between $500 and $2000 depending on if you DIY it or use a shop. Hope that helps.
Hi @McMinnow This vehicle had the mounts replaced roughly 30,000 miles ago, as mentioned on the VMI. My mechanic has felt the vibration in the wheel, and has noted that they don't need to be replaced as of now. I personally do not feel it when driving- maybe a little if I decide to move it for the first time in my driveway on a cold start-up. I wait until it warms up to actually drive the car, as I know she's a little older haha. That is a common wear item on W221s, as their mounts are pretty soft to begin with. I do not know how much the repair would cost, as my mechanic said it wasn't necessary. I'll talk to my service writer, get general info, and DM it to you ASAP. Just trying to be up front with the condition, as I take pride in my vehicles. Thanks!
Sinatra 23, would you provide some additional detail about the vibration in steering wheel. Does that also occur when driving the car? Your mechanic stated it did not need motor mounts yet? Not being familiar with this model, are motor mount replacements common? If so after how many miles and do you know an approximate amount for the repair?

Hi @raffi I sent you a PM (sorry, I’m on PA time) but full transparency for you and any other prospective bidders: The vehicle has an active loan through Mercedes Benz Financial Services. If the vehicle meets reserve, the buyer will send me the funds, I will pay off the loan and expedite the title through the dealership I work at. This will take around 2-3 weeks. In the interim, I will give the S550 one last Mercedes-Benz check-up (with my 35 year master tech) and get a full detail so it’s ready to go. Let me know if you have any other questions and happy bidding!
Who holds the title ?
Title Status: Clean Pennsylvania w/lien.. Any explanation ?

Hello and welcome to the auction of my beautiful Designo 221! Thanks to the MB Market for a great write-up. A quick history of the car: This vehicle was originally special-ordered by a prominent client at MB of West Chester back in 2008. He opted for the Designo Espresso Interior Package, but decided for Arctic White paint instead of the Mocha Black usually picked on a Designo Espresso Edition vehicle. The MSRP was nearly $122,000 back in '09! As shown in the VMI and the attached CARFAX, this S has a heavy service history at multiple MB dealers on the East Coast (most of the miles come from driving to the first owner's properties in SC and FL) and a lot of common 221 problems have already been addressed. I'm here to answer any questions- and because I work at a Mercedes dealership, the purchase process will be made as seamless as possible. Thanks again and good luck! -Anthony
