This original deck lid panel is constructed of aluminum and is reported to have been removed from a 1959 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Roadster. The piece is finished in original gold paint with the rear structure shown, prop, and holes for badging. This aluminum 300SL deck lid is now offered by the seller in El Cajon, California.
Utilized from 1954 through 1963, the production version of the 300SL utilized steel bodywork with aluminum panels for the hood, trunk lid, door skins, rocker panels, and floorboards. This aluminum panel shows some wear including light dings, scratches, and a crack near the prop stand and the paint shows significant wear and fading. Detailed photos can be seen in the gallery.
