This Euro-Spec 1984 Mercedes-Benz 380SL was originally a Spanish-market example with U.S. registration history showing North Carolina and Virginia starting in 2001. The SL is finished in Black (040) over Gray Leather (258), and power is provided by a 3.8-liter V8 paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission. Notable features on this example include a paint-matched hardtop, black fabric soft top, original Becker head unit, air conditioning, and aftermarket electronic cruise control. This R107 shows 72k miles and is now being offered by the seller with the factory literature, a stamped maintenance booklet, factory tool kit, spare tire, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Georgia title with no additional dealer fees.
The exterior is finished in Black (040) paint with narrow front and rear European bumpers and North American spec headlamps. No accidents or damage are noted on the included Carfax and the seller reports a recent detail and wax. A contrasting Gray pinstripe is shown along each side of the car just above the beltline. Minor rock chips can be seen on each lower rear rocker panel. A matching Black (040) painted hardtop is included in the sale along with a Black fabric soft top.
Factory 14″ Bundt wheels wear a silver finish and are mounted with new 205/70 Duro tires. The factory tool roll is included in the trunk along with a full size original spare located under the trunk floor.
The cabin is trimmed in Gray Leather (258) with color-matched door inserts and carpets. Burl wood veneers accent the dashboard and center console. Equipment includes aftermarket electronic cruise control, air conditioning, an original Becker head unit, adjustable side mirrors, and manual side windows. The leather and wood throughout the cabin remains in good shape with little wear shown.
Instrumentation includes an 85-mph speedometer and a 7k-rpm tachometer as well as a clock and gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 72k miles, approximately 500 of which were added by the selling dealer since acquiring.
The 3.8L M116 V8 was rated at 204 horsepower and 232 lb-ft of torque when new. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission. Detailed photos of the engine bay can be seen in the gallery.
