This 1987 Mercedes-Benz 560SEL has been a California car since new and shows only 44k miles on the odometer. Finished in Black (040) over Black leather (271), power is provided by a 5.5-liter M117 V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. The car was converted to a European AMG spec in 2025. Equipment includes a full AMG-style body kit and AMG OZ Aero III-style wheels by CMS Motorsports, a sliding steel sunroof, burl wood trim, automatic climate control, heated front seats and rear bench, an AMG Atiwe steering wheel, Euro headlights, and rear passenger footrests. Service performed in the last year includes new spark plugs and wires, distributor cap and rotor, transmission service, brake fluid flush, hydraulic fluid flush, fuel pump, H&R springs, Bilstein shocks including rear self-leveling, drive belts, and more detailed below. This W126 is now offered by the seller with manufacturer’s books & literature, recent service records, one key, a clean Carfax report, and a clean California title.
The body is finished in Black (040) and features a full AMG-style body kit by CMS. The body kit was installed earlier this year and painted to match the car along with all lower cladding, grille, and chrome trim. The car is equipped with a sliding steel sunroof, headlight wipers, lower front fog lights, European headlights, and dual exhaust tips at the rear. A period-correct AMG badge is fitted to the trunk lid and all paint is reported to be in excellent condition with detailed photos in the gallery.
Staggered OZ Aero III-style wheels were commissioned by CMS and fitted with new Sumitomo HZR tires which most closely match the tread design of the tires which would've been used in period when the car was new. The tires measure 245/45 up front and 275/40 in the rear. The wheels are paint-matched to the car and AMG is engraved on each face. H&R springs and Bilstein shocks were fitted with new self-leveling units in the rear. The SLS fluid and brake fluid were both flushed in June 2025.
The seating surfaces are upholstered in Black leather (271) with a matching black dashboard, carpets, and doorcards. Burl wood trim accents the center console, shift knob, dashboard, and door panels. Amenities include central locking, automatic climate control, cruise control, dual front airbags, and AMG-labeled carpet floor mats and matching rear passenger footrests. Additionally, the front and rear bench seats are power-adjustable and heated. An Atiwe steering wheel is fitted and the door sills feature the premerger AMG logo.
A leather-wrapped Atiwe steering wheel features the premerger AMG logo at the center and has been recently recovered. Custom white-faced gauge overlays made from metal show the premerger AMG logo on the speedometer. Readouts include a 160-mph speedometer and a 7k-rpm tachometer with an integrated analog clock along. Additional gauges display fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and instant economy. The six-digit mechanical odometer indicates approximately 44k original miles.
The 5.5-liter M117 V8 was factory rated at 238 horsepower and 287 lb-ft of torque when new. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. Extensive maintenance has been performed in 2025 and includes:
This W126 AMG Tribute shows California registration history since new along with no accidents or damage, and linear mileage updates on the Carfax report. A binder of records from service and upgrades performed under the seller's care are included in the sale. The car is now offered with manufacturer’s books & literature, recent service records, two keys, a clean Carfax report, and a clean California title.

@VerbalKent - That was exactly what I was getting at. There was a similar SEC AMG Tribute that sold here recently, I know Amit and he set reserve way too low (sold for like 38k). The only way to really make a profit is if you do the labor yourself / have a shop with subsidized/free labor. I suppose I am trying to warn people that this is a project to be undertaken only if you have the passion, and it amazed me to see people build something so great only to sell it very soon thereafter. I am about 50k-75k+ upside down in mine and could not fathom selling once complete. To each their own! Extremely nice build @jhp2024 and well bought @m_one ! Be sure to update us on BenzWorld - the w126 community is superb!@m_one I daresay that you've more than made up for it with this one...again, well done!!@VerbalKent - yes ! You have a good memory. She was a beauty also. And the MLB history was cool on that one.Thank you jhp. Look forward to enjoying the beautiful car you have built. I’ll be in touch for next steps shortly.Well done @m_one...that Hammer tribute that got away for a $500 delta must've incentivized you :-)Congrats to the new owner! Amazing spec right here!congratulations @M_one taking a n awesome car !!! unique@SwissBliss Seller is more than likely still upside down as of this post...figure about $20-25K to get it in the first place, and I'd venture there's north of $40K in AMG-ing it...add to that the fact that modding a car to this level is even more expensive in Cali, and well...you get the idea.$61,500 bid placed by @m_one

@jhp2024 - Yes, that was the one, it was linked by @StuttgartClassix earlier in the auction. Usually when we see a relatively low mile car picked up, transformed with major modifications (usually cosmetic), and then relisted- the intention of the buyer/seller is to make a quick profit. It doesn't always work out (this one seems to have, depending on labor costs -- which is why I was asking if he was affiliated with CMS..$59,500 bid placed by @m_one

Stunning car, I hope you do well. A black/black 560SEL is getting harder to find. Appears to be a very nice example. CMS does amazing work as well, I should add. Great group of people.$39,225 bid placed by @Safa80

@SwissBliss i did not buy it off BAT i bought it through the dealership for much more money, regarding making profits im not a dealer or car salesman. wish the photographer that was recomended form MB market can jump in the comments so he can tell `you i have to much cars stored and toys . I built this to the intention of keeping it. But decided ito reduce the inventory and keep other collectibles.@SwissBliss Are you talking about the listing from over a year ago when it didn't meet reserve on Bat? Looks like that was prior to all of the work the seller has done to it and the euro/AMG conversion too. Tough to make any kind of comparison there$38,225 bid placed by @m_one

@seller - as has been mentioned, this car was purchased recently from BaT. Are you affiliated with CMS, or did you just purchase this with the intent to make a quick profit? Very curious intentions, and I suspect we will see more of these come out of the woodwork due to the rise in SEC values. The question here, will the rise in coupe values also translate to the sedans? We shall see ---> GLWA!$37,166 bid placed by @Lsantini

@Safa80 the euro headlights are bosch, original , need to clarify the foggyness and clean but def they are not faded. The headlights look to be foggy, looks like moisture is in the inside? are the euro headlights bosch or aftermarket?@am2818 please read below this comment regarding your question thank youdoes the radio, heat/ac, sunroof, seats operate?@amusicianslife @993tats everything mentioned works in excelente condition window and sun roof at slide at normal speed . Side mirrors and horn AC blows cold air. Rear seat reclines functions excelente condition. The radio had hard time trying to turning it on did not spend time dealing with it. Speakers work.$35,725 bid placed by @2018trackhawk
For those not familiar with CMS Motorsports in California, they do excellent work and their quality is top notch. The body kits are identical to the original AMG kits and are structurally very strong, not just about looks. Same goes for the wheels which don't crack like many of the original OZs. Having seen and driven many CMS builds, I can vouch for the quality and attention to detail that they give each car. Their custom shooting brake (wagon) SEC widebody is a true work of art!Does everything operate? Videos of operations; the seats, the windows, the sunroof, the heat/ac, would be great. I would love to see photos of the paint chips you mentioned. The edited photos make the car appear flawless so seeing close ups of the damage or even seeing the car out in sun would be great. Hard to understand the condition of the original black paint right now@StuttgartClassix that must be a typo error never noticed. The rims are brand new with less than 100 miles on them , like mentioned before they are forged 2 piece rims wich make them stronger than the 3 piece OZ wheels wich tend to be more fragile these rims are Amg re creation form CMS wich they have a good name for amg body parts based on Los Angeles. Again the rims are brand new with. No defects .so the invoice says repair of amg wheels. was that repair of lug cracks or meaning the refinishing/paint, barrels lips etc? or are these recreations?$35,225 bid placed by @digzober
@993tats door handles are painted, also the chromes everywhere , car has NO wrap anywhere@993tats dents were repaired , car has NO current dents@VerbalKent checked under car no leak its stainAre the window, door handles, and other exterior silver moldings painted black or are they wrapped? Was the small dent in the rear quarter repaired? Pic 43 from prior listing.@Jhp2024...when zooming in on pic 131, there appears to the presence of oil (small drip and residue), is that the case?$34,725 bid placed by @2018trackhawk
@993tats the car sits on original paint and in very good condition , the Amg body kit was prepped and painted, the rest of car did receive a proffesional paint detailing to match the body kit. there is no rock chips on new painted bodykit but their are micro DOT rock chip (2) near the front of the hood.$34,000 bid placed by @apooster

Was the entire car resprayed or just the body kit? If the car was not painted, is the paint original? Are there stone chips or other blemishes of note from 44k miles? Thx.@Jhp2024 Thanks for the clarification!@VerbalKent the car wen to wisconsin to a dealership to be sold , it only spent 2 weeks there and came back to california, car fax sources the car in california since 1991. the car lived in los angeles. i know have it in san diego . @stuttgartclassix@StuttgartClassix ...agreed...also wondering why this post is saying that it's a lifelong CA car when it was definitely offered for sale in WI...$33,000 bid placed by @apooster
Hey guys video uploadedThx @jhp2024 for the additional info and confirmation not authentic AMG parts. Was the entire car resprayed or just the body kit? If the car was not painted, is the paint original? Are there stone chips or other blemishes of note from 44k miles? Thx.…Thx @jhp2024Driving videos have been added to the listing.…@993tats the AMG kit is by CMS motorsports very high quality replica , the rims are 2 piece forged which are better quality than the OG OZIII for the fact that the OG are more fragile and tend to get hairloom cracks that’s why I went with this option and they are not cheap they are over 4K for the set not including the tires. Videos will be uploaded soon$32,500 bid placed by @RicSinger
