This 1988 Mercedes-Benz 300SEL was sold new in Pennsylvania in January of 1988 and shows registration history in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. Finished in Anthracite Grey Metallic (172) over Palomino Leather (274), power is provided by a 3.0-liter inline-six linked to a four-speed automatic transmission. Factory equipment includes a power tilt/slide sunroof, a power passenger-side mirror, headlamp wiper/washers, a telescoping steering column, power and heated front seats with memory, automatic climate control and a Boss head unit. The car underwent a full repaint in a different shade within the last year and the most recent service in October 2025 included a new fuel pump, distributor cap, and spark plugs. This 300SEL is now offered for sale by the current owner at No Reserve with a clean Carfax report and a clean Pennsylvania title.
The body is finished in Anthracite Grey Metallic (172) and features matching lower body cladding and chrome trim along the front and rear bumpers. The seller reports the car has been fully repainted in a different shade under current ownership within the last year. Exterior features include a power tilt/slide sunroof, heated door mirrors with a power-passenger side, headlamp wiper/washers, an automatic antenna and heat insulating glass with an electrically-heated rear window. The seller reports the body to be in good condition with no rust.
The original 15” Gullideckel wheels come wrapped in a mixed set of Michelin and Toyo tires measuring 205/65 on all four corners. The wheels show some wear marks on the faces. Braking is handled by dual-circuit anti-lock disc brakes front and rear.
The cabin is trimmed in Palomino Leather (274) with matching carpets, a black dashboard and Zebrano wood trim which lines the center console, dashboard and door panels. The wood trim is in good condition with light fading visible on the upper portions. Both front seats are heated and power adjustable with two-position memory. Interior amenities include automatic climate control, cruise control, a power telescoping steering column, and a Boss head unit with Bluetooth. The leather seating surfaces show some creasing and wear. The seller notes the rear speaker cover and third brake light cover on the rear parcel shelf are cracked.
The black leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts a 160-mph speedometer along with a 7k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock and gauges for fuel level, economy, coolant temperature and oil pressure. The six-digit odometer currently shows 122,600 miles from new.
This W126 is powered by a 3.0-liter M103 inline-six which produces 177 horsepower and 188 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. There is limited information for service history on the Carfax and only records under current ownership are included although the seller reports the car operates with no issues. The most recent service in October 2025 included a new fuel pump, distributor cap, and spark plugs.
The Carfax report shows linear mileage updates since new and no accidents or damage reports. This 300SEL is now offered for sale by the current owner with a clean Carfax report and a clean Pennsylvania title.

Granada, I sent an email to see it , please respond thanks , Happy NY !@acewert3 You can't do that :) It had VA plate when I was taking its pictures, it currently has PA antique plate@Davidsbenz560 Hello, sorry for late response. I think you can send me private message. You're more than welcome to stop by, take a look at it and test drive it. It has a clean title and its CARFAX is attached on the auction. It's free of any fluid leaks, hope you can figure how to contact me so you can come see it yourself before the auction ends :) I'll be around all day Friday and if needed I can actually show you the car tomorrow as well. Let me drop my email here; [email protected]VA plate and PA title, why is that? How do you do that? Not sure how to reach you, I'm not far, I want to see it, also , any accidents, is it a salvage or rebuilt title, how are the seat springs, doesn't leak any oil or fuel ? Thanks@Davidsbenz560 Hello, yes everything works. All the power options are working, there's nothing inop. Antenna, power lock, windows, sunroof everything. All the fluids are in good condition, level and condition-wise. I don't have any record of transmission service but it works flawlessly@MrJagger Sorry for the late response, yes wanted to have a 'modern touch' but I feel you for sure. The interior is in great condition. I wasn't planning on selling this for a while but have a storage issue so here we are :)Hello , do the following all work ?: AC, defrost, rear defrost, sunroof, antenna, radio, pwr seats, all windows, all gauges, all lights, horn, odometer, any record of trans service, coolant and break fluid changes, any injectors clogged or leaking. Thanks@ggranada yeah not opposed to the colour, it just isn't 172 which is such a classic one. This finish is quite fashionable on modern cars at the moment I think. To be honest I think 172 would still go better with the Palomino. Just a stunning interior.@MrJagger Thank you much! The color is actually same but you're 100% right I didn't want the pearl in the color -so it's like single stage- so it has all the ingredients but the pearl in it. That was kind of my choice it actually looks pretty good in person :)Lovely car. That re-spray however does not look at all close to 172 Anthracite. Any info on what shade the respray is?$1,000 bid placed by @Ialadogan
@StuttgartClassix hahahah! I feel you, believe me. I promise you that it'll be fixed, I took the pictures not too long after the car freshly painted and I was afraid of removing it to reposition. I wanted to throw up when I went to pick it up from body shop :)for the sake of god and mercedes humanity fix the position of the badgeHello everyone! Welcome to my very first auction with MBMarket, I'm excited about it. This vehicle I inquired about two years ago, it's been a great runner. It runs really good right now, recently received new fuel pump, distributor cap, and spark plugs. Feel free to check the videos and if you have any questions please let me know I'll be around :) Also if you'd like to check the vehicle during the auction we can certainly arrange something at both of ours convenience. Good luck!
