This 2009 Mercedes-Benz S550 4Matic was sold new by Mercedes-Benz of Coral Gables to the original owner in June 2009. In 2010, the car moved to Alabama where it was kept and serviced through the dealership until April 2021 when it was brought to Georgia. Finished in Pewter Silver Metallic (723) over Brown Leather (204), this S550 is powered by a 5.5L M273 V8 paired to a seven-speed automatic transmission and recent maintenance includes a transmission service including a rear differential flush. Features on this example include a backup camera, keyless-go, an electric rear roller blind, parktronic, optional 18” wheels, heated and ventilated front seats, and bi-xenon headlamps with active curve illumination. This 2009 S550 4Matic shows 58,762 miles on the odometer and is now being offered by the seller complete with recent service records, two keys, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Georgia title.
The exterior is finished in Pewter Silver Metallic (723) with all original paintwork and body panels. The headlamps and tail lamps are reportedly free from any UV damage or discoloration and all glass remains original as well. Exterior features include bi-xenon headlamps, power folding mirrors, soft-close doors, and a power sunroof with tilt function. The included Carfax shows an accident-free history.
Optional 18” wheels are fitted and wear new BF Goodrich G-Force Comp 2 tires showing 2018 date codes. The wheels show some signs of light curb rash and measure 18x8.5” on all four corners while the tires measure factory specs in 255/45/18.
In the cabin, the seats, armrests, door cards, dashboard, and steering wheel are finished in Brown Leather (204). Matching Brown carpets trim the footwells and show original Brown floor mats with a black foot pad on the driver’s mat and Mercedes-Benz embroidered on the front two. The cabin features Burl Walnut veneer trim finishing the center console, door cards, armrest, and steering wheel. Interior features include dual-zone climate control, keyless-go, an electric rear roller blind, heated and ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, rear folding vanity mirrors, and Bluetooth phone capability.
The leather and walnut adorned steering wheel frames a 160-mph digital speedometer, 7k-rpm tachometer, and a digital odometer with trip function showing 58,762 miles. Additional readouts include fuel level and coolant temperature, along with digital readouts for various assistance programs, outside temperature reading, and infotainment menus.
The 5.5L M273 naturally aspirated V8 is rated from the factory at 382 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via a seven-speed automatic transmission. Recent maintenance includes a transmission service including a rear differential flush. The included Carfax shows consistent dealer maintenance.
This 2009 S550 4Matic is now being offered by the seller complete with recent service records, two keys, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Georgia title.
While the M273 was certainly a step up from the 5.0L M113 V8 in the previous generation S-Class, these cars weren’t about 0-60 times, slalom performance, or horsepower wars. These cars were built to be as comfortable as possible while maintaining the quietest, smoothest, and most isolated ride yet still giving the driver the impression the Autobahn could be tamed at 150+ miles per hour without spilling an espresso. The idea of rapid comfort and unparalleled luxury has been the winning recipe for the S Class as long as it’s existed but Mercedes seemed to find all the right notions with the W221. Whether it’s a cold morning in bumper to bumper traffic or long road trips up and down the interstates, the W221 S-Class seems to make every experience ideal.

My tire dates didn’t make it to my previous message? User error maybe. Codes are 3917 and 3318… Oct 2017, Aug 2018…. Something like that.
@bbest129 thank you... I'll listen to the video again... I appreciate your response.
@Spider-Viloce, remote shopping is challenging. So I’m happy to share what I know. I have 2 dates on 2 tires… the others look to be same wear - but codes not apparent. Comparing to VMI mileage checks, that ends up suggesting good life remaining.
@bbest129 Appreciate all of the information and responses that you have provided. It really helps when bidding long distance without being able to view the car. Can you also share the tire date codes which you referenced in one of your earlier responses? Many thanks
@BLowe1, The squeaking in the video is the steering wheel itself. It's plastic on plastic right beneath the wheel... My take was it may be caused by under use. I had failed to ask my tech about that at baselining. But yes, I am familiar with that and assuming some adjustment resolves that. Telescoping, for example, does not resolve that because the it's the wheel itself at the post causing the noise.
Good evening... in the video you posted I hear a lot of intermittent squeaking... is that coming from the car? The seat? Please let me know... thank you.

@Gasman (and any other interested observers) There is a great online resource for Mercedes sales brochures which is called ragtop.com. Assuming that theMBMarket allows me to share it, here is the web address for an electronic copy of the 2009 Mercedes S Class Sales brochure: https://ragtop.org/mbbrochures/2009/2009-S-Class.pdf Note that this website seems to have an archive for 2001 through 2014 Mercedes sales brochures.
Thanks for the info. I have an 09 SL 550 with ABC and I certainly wish I had a rear view camera and distronic CC. I did understand that ABC was offered as an option on the S550 in 09.
$9,500 bid placed by @DavidSanders
@Spider_veloce, thank you Sir. I remember the Distronic well from my 2004. 'Graphics' were remarkably crude outline of a car and would indeed break off the CC when the perimeter was breached. You made a previous inquiry about brakes... VMI mentions brake activity around 39k miles... and my baselining technician just said "brakes and tires are good for now'... triangulating on tire manufacture date, the tires can't have more than 5-7k miles on them.
@bbest129 In case it helps, ABC means Active Body Control and this was standard on the S600. However, it was not available for the S550 4Matic. Also, Adaptive Cruise Control refers to what Mercedes called Distronic Cruise Control. This was also standard for the S600 and it was available as on option on the S550. Believe it or not, it used a mini radar system in the grille of the car to detect the distance to other cars in front of the Mercedes and to apply brakes if necessary to maintain a chosen following distance.
@gasman, I know you're out there... I got some questions in email that I expected to see in the thread below - and don't see them. This is Airmatic, yes. My understanding that means not ABC, but I'm not the expert. Adaptive CC,? I believe no... I haven't identified that feature when using CC. To the list of standard features on the car, the sales card detail says: P02 Premium Package, which includes rear camera, Parktronic, Keyless-go... and separate options of the ipod integration kit and bluetooth interface.

@Spider_Veloce, Thank you. Truth in advertising... I crawled under the wheel wells and snapped whatever pic I got - if some happen to be of nothing in particular. And obviously I didn't clean anything before I took the photo - so the buying public could see the real thing. At least one of the new air shocks is featured I think.
@bbest129 Wow, that is one immaculate underside. You must have really clean streets down there in Atlanta.
Underbody photos have been added to the gallery along with a driving video to the listing.

@Spider_Veloce, Should be doable. I'll submit that tmo. I also owe some undercarriage shots if I can get a lift, which will not be this week... working on that. VMI dealer codes are 01117 for MB Mobile, 14302 for MB Coral Gables.

@bbest129 Thanks for sharing the service information. In fact, the Airmatic suspension and brakes are a couple of the maintenance items that I was wondering about since they tend to occur around this mileage/age. Any chance that you can add a copy of the VMI to your posting? That would be very helpful. Thanks
@Spider_Veloce(23), Thank you for the look - and thanks to the MB Market hosts for facilitating the listing ... I pulled a VMI which helped me when I was buying. After a couple of entries from Coral Gables, this shows MB of Mobile from 2011 through to April 2021. In addition to regular A services, brakes, batteries, wiper blades, I see a 60k service Feb 2020 (including plugs and belt) and a couple of air struts replaced in August 2020. When I took it to my technician for baselining, the transmission service is all he recommended. The car got new oil in April, less than 1,000 miles ago. I hate not knowing more - but I know it was under dealer care throughout.
@bbest129 Beautiful car and it looks to be in great condition. I see from the CarFax that you have only owned the car for a couple of months. But do you have any information on the maintenance work which has been done on the car? (Not too many specifics in the CarFax.) Thanks,
