Spider_Veloce bid $15,500

In case it is of interest to the wining bidder. I previously became very interested in a similar 2004 Diamond Blue with Blue interior wagon, which I did not end up purchasing. However, I did purchase new OEM Mercedes Blue carpet mats from Germany. I would be happy to sell them at the same price that I paid on German eBay, plus shipping to you. (I would need to look up the purchase price but they were around 100 Euros plus shipping to me.) In any event, GLWTA.
This is a very appealing car. Does it also have a Bluetooth telephone or a Bluetooth adaptor in the storage console next to the drivers seat? Thanks
Hello, Very nice car. Just out of curiosity, does this car have a built in Bluetooth telephone or adaptor? (If it does it would be inside the console storage next to the driver.). Thanks, and GLWTA
@BoulderBuff Many Thanks. GLWTA. (typo corrected)
Your car is in beautiful condition. Can you tell us more details about the upgraded Bluetooth Audio Streaming which is mentioned in the description. I actually have an identical 2009 wagon in the same colors, which I absolutely love. However, I would also love to add Bluetooth audio streaming. Thanks in advance and GLTWA.
In case it is of interest, there are a couple of websites where a buyer (or seller) can find out all of the options that are present for a Mercedes car. Specifically, if you go to Lastvin.com and enter the Vin# the website produces a list of all the options for that car, including the Engine#. all for free. In addition, for a fee of $10 you can go to the Monroney Labels website, and enter the Vin# to get a reproduction of the window sticker, which also shows the options, along with the original MSRP. GLWTA.
@kenbrowe Chicago,. that's my home town and probably one of the few locations with just as many potholes as CT and New York (where I work and commute now). I really appreciate all these details, and learning about the potential complications of the large and staggered tire/wheel sizes (which is exactly what I wondered about). By coincidence, i recently bought a 2005 Platinum Blue E500 Wagon, which is what inspired my questions. In any event, I thank you again, and I hope that we both enjoy our new steeds.
@kenbrowe posting this note a month after auction end. This car is absolutely beautiful and those upgraded wheels and tires look phenomenal. I'm curious how the wheels and tires are working out in daily driving. Also wanted to double check whether the wheels are 18 inch or 19 inch (since both sizes are mentioned in the description). They look so good, that I'm tempted to replicate them. Thanks for any feedback, if you have the time. Hope you are enjoying it.
Hello @NEluxury Beautiful car. Could you also add a picture of the interior of the storage compartment next to the drivers seat. (Curious whether this car has the Mercedes Bluetooth phone adaptor). Also, could you add pictures of the COMAND screen when it is displaying the different functions in action (Radio, CD, Navigation, etc.)? Many Thanks,
Very complimentary article in this months MBCA club magazine (The Star) on the R129 SL. Calls it "the first truly modern SL".
@Cwjackson2 and @Cpl8888 , in case it helps, here is an article on the Mercedes Medic .com website which discusses this issue: https://www.mercedesmedic.com/check-my-mercedes-benz-for-balance-shaft-issue-by-vin-m272273/. According to this article, this problem was solved beginning with engine serial numbers that are higher than: • M272 Engine Serial No. 2729..30 468993 • M273 Engine Serial No. 2739..30 088611 Also, FYI, you can enter the VIN number on the Lastvin.com website and get the engine number for any given Mercedes. According to Lastvin.com, the engine number for this car should be 27396830 255668, which would be in the safe range. But I will defer to the seller to confirm if this is the correct engine number. GLWTA
Well, I can't blame the seller for his reserve. Wonderful Car.
@bbest129 Appreciate all of the information and responses that you have provided. It really helps when bidding long distance without being able to view the car. Can you also share the tire date codes which you referenced in one of your earlier responses? Many thanks
@Gasman (and any other interested observers) There is a great online resource for Mercedes sales brochures which is called ragtop.com. Assuming that theMBMarket allows me to share it, here is the web address for an electronic copy of the 2009 Mercedes S Class Sales brochure: https://ragtop.org/mbbrochures/2009/2009-S-Class.pdf Note that this website seems to have an archive for 2001 through 2014 Mercedes sales brochures.
@bbest129 In case it helps, ABC means Active Body Control and this was standard on the S600. However, it was not available for the S550 4Matic. Also, Adaptive Cruise Control refers to what Mercedes called Distronic Cruise Control. This was also standard for the S600 and it was available as on option on the S550. Believe it or not, it used a mini radar system in the grille of the car to detect the distance to other cars in front of the Mercedes and to apply brakes if necessary to maintain a chosen following distance.
@bbest129 Wow, that is one immaculate underside. You must have really clean streets down there in Atlanta.
@bbest129 Thanks for sharing the service information. In fact, the Airmatic suspension and brakes are a couple of the maintenance items that I was wondering about since they tend to occur around this mileage/age. Any chance that you can add a copy of the VMI to your posting? That would be very helpful. Thanks
@bbest129 Beautiful car and it looks to be in great condition. I see from the CarFax that you have only owned the car for a couple of months. But do you have any information on the maintenance work which has been done on the car? (Not too many specifics in the CarFax.) Thanks,
@Wfr817 No kidding. Sounds like a great road trip. Perfect car for one.
@Wfr817 Congratulations. You won a great car, excellent condition and very well documented maintenance. Enjoy.
@tmb560 In case it helps, I think that you need to address your question to @thembmarket to get someone from the website to take a look at your bidding problem.
@mercedeswagon Thanks for the under carriage photos. FYI, I also took a closer look at the rest of your photos and I just wanted to mention that you may actually have a Mercedes OEM Bluetooth phone adapter installed in your car (if so, this a fairly rare and desirable option for the S211 wagons). Please see picture #62, which shows something installed in the storage compartment next to the drivers seat. I believe that this may be the Mercedes OEM adapter . You can check by turning on the car, and the COMAND screen and your cell phone and then at the top of the front of the adaptor is a circular button which has the Mercedes logo. If you press this button, a light next to it should flash and you should see a message either on the COMAND screen or on the phone which offers to pair to your phone. I have an earlier version of the Mercedes OEM Bluetooth adapter on my 2004 E320 wagon and it works perfectly with my I-Phone and also integrates with the COMAND screen and the voice communication feature which your car also appears to have. Again this is a beautiful car, and really well optioned. GLWTA.
@mercedeswagon Thanks for your response to my earlier question. Would it also be possible to add any pictures of the under carriage, in particular the front axle boots and the rear Airmatic shocks?
@mercedeswagon Beautiful Car, Excellent condition and great options. Can you also tell us whether your car has a Bluetooth phone option? Thanks
