This Momo M38 Steering Wheel was exclusively built for AMG before Mercedes-Benz had stakes in the company making this a genuine pre-merger AMG accessory which was built in collaboration with the Italian company Momo. It’s finished in Black Leather and the “horn pad” is embossed with premerger "AMG" script. The center “horn pad” is removable (by peeling it off from the top down) and centered by four horn buttons. The back of the wheel shows original Momo manufacturer markings including a KBA part number. This M38 steering wheel has a hub adapter attached, meaning it’s bolt-on ready for W126, W124, W123, and R107 cars. This rare AMG steering wheel is located in Douglasville, Georgia and the seller is willing to ship worldwide with expenses paid on behalf of the buyer.
This Momo steering wheel can fit various Mercedes-Benz models. This hub adapter is good for W126, W124, W123, and R107 cars with other adapters available to fit later W201s as the blinker reset brushes are located outside of the clock spring contact area.
The seller reports the steering wheel and horn pad leather to be all original with the original premerger "AMG" script. Normal wear marks are present with detailed photos provided in the gallery. There are some dents in the leather at the twelve-o-clock potion photographed in the gallery.
Photos of the back of the steering wheel are provided showing part number KBA 70056. The wiring is still present and holes for an adapter are centered around the opening. This wheel does not include the center 10mm allen bolt to attach to the steering column – though if removing a wheel on an existing car, the OEM bolt can be used to attach this M38 wheel to your car. No adjustments to wiring have to be made to make the horn work. This is a bolt-on application.
Also on the back of the steering wheel are stampings that read "EXCLUSIVELY MADE FOR AMG GERMANY” showing that this AMG/Momo collaboration was only done as an AMG accessory that could be optioned on late pre-merger cars and seen on some Hammers. The seller has provided measurements in the gallery.
This original Momo M38 steering wheel was made exclusively for AMG and is now offered in original condition. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer, and the seller is willing to accommodate worldwide shipping needs, with the wheel being located out of Douglasville, Georgia with in-person pickup available.
We love these M38 steering wheels as all of us at The MB Market own at least one. They offer a smaller diameter wheel which adds a bit more steering dynamics to these old recirculating ball steering boxes. The rims are a bit thicker compared to OEM and gives the overall feel a meatier personality, which pairs well with per-merge AMG cars. Momo ergonomics are widely considered the best in the business, so they feel high quality and comfortable in the hand while operating. AMG accessories are becoming harder to find as the cars have risen in value, therefore dragging the prices and desirability up. Much like period correct wheels, an AMG steering wheel does add value to your car. Or you can simply remove it prior to sale and stick it on another car in the collection or hold onto it for a future purchase. These are material savings accounts that gain interest after all.

Hey everyone, welcome to the auction of this M38 steering wheel! I love these things and if you have any pre-merger Benz, it’s a nice addition to your car. The smaller diameter wheel gives heftier feedback and just feels great in the hand. This came from Japan originally, so it’s in good shape and was well taken care of. When you win this, I have a nice box for shipping already set up, so I’ll provide dimensions and weight and you can just send me a shipping label. Of course local pickup is available. Let me know if there’s any questions. Thanks!
