@JohnSimpson I understand your concern but if you look at all the videos/pictures provided, I am not sure what worries you about the dash. We had not noticed it in 2.5 years until running our hands over the top of the cluster when the photographer came by to shoot the car. Or in other words, although we have been looking at the dash for the past 11k miles, it was not apparent to us. And, for what it's worth, based on everyone that has seen the car in person, I would say it is close to perfect, given the car is almost 20 years old. If perfect is = rolled off the Mercedes Assembly floor, then no. But you'd be looking at a new car (AMG not making V12s anymore for Mercedes).

@tbragg Thank you for the compliments. Yes, it just the lighting/shadow. Photo was taken at a different angle than the other photos capturing the headliner. There is no dirt on the Alcantara headliner.

@JohnSimpson Please see additional pictures of the dashboard, as per your request. Hope that helps.

@JohnSimpsonNo, the dash coming unglued is not physically apparent. Not from inside the cabin, nor when you look into the car from the outside, through the windshield (picture #89). The leather remains tucked in under the dash all around, it is not shrunk or receding (video around the 2-minute and 10-minute mark). As a matter of fact, we did not notice it until shooting pictures/videos for the listing. You can mostly feel it, when you run your hand over the leather on top /the back part of the instrument cluster (picture #208), facing the windshield (picture #89). It feels like air is trapped under the leather in the center section of the cluster housing. I am sure it can be fixed by an upholstery shop, but we have not bothered, because we had not noticed in 2.5 years. There is a smaller "bubble" on the top right part of the dash (Passenger side) that is however visible and that was on the car when we bought it. It has not gotten bigger since (picture #251). Nothing crazy like on newer Mercedes Models or Cayenne's where the whole dash comes apart. I can have some close-up photos uploaded to the gallery of these two areas if that helps.
As far as white scuff marks on the bumper, can you point me to which picture you are referring to? There are no scuff marks, maybe some dirt or residue from detailer. Receipt for OEM bumper, paint work, install etc. pictures #334/#335.

@PGT_FTWOnly way around it. The good thing for you is...you don't have to start throwing money at it knowing there is no fix.

2008 Mercedes-Benz CL65 AMG 40th Anniversary

Munichhero said:

@PGT_FTW: Those guys are definitely the best in the business!! As far as PDC on pre=facelift 221/216 Chassis - Mercedes kind of went overboard during those years with the "invisible sensors". The bumpers look nice and clean without the traditional PDC sensors, and I am sure at the time it was not a problem. But for some reason there is a signal interference with newer Toyota and Fords (2012-2020 models). We spent 5k on a new bumper, internals, calibration hoping it would solve it but supposedly there is no real cure - other than coding PDC out altogether. I did not want to do that, because the parking functionality works great and I did not want to lose it.
When the sensors are acting up in traffic, I just wait 20 second until the message in the dash clears and usually turn off PDC while driving in traffic. I am assuming that is what you do too? Hopefully, someone in the community will find a solution at some point. But then again, Mercedes reverted back to traditional PDC sensors on later models.

@MBFahrer No this is a different car than the one that just sold on the other platform. Funny enough with the same exact mileage which is crazy given how rare these cars are (only 20 came to NA out of the 40 made total).

@stephenK: Thanks for the compliment. Tried to be as thorough as possible on the presentation. And yes. It looks like maybe a pinecone, or something fell on the rear windshield at some point while being parked. Will try to get a better picture once I am back with the car (Thursday AM). In any case it's been there before we took delivery of the car and has not gotten worse over the past 2.5 years and 10k miles we have owned it, even in the Florida heat when not in the garage.

@Fast&theCurious, @Antiquarian, @Superseller, @570TE, @mikelaca, @Shyk1965, @dduanee, here is another chance at owning a true Mercedes Benz icon.

Munichhero said:

Hello everyone and welcome to my listing of this 2008 Mercedes-Benz CL65 AMG 40th Anniversary Edition (only 20 in North America). I am helping my dad sell this car which he originally purchased on MB Market in September of 2023. He has enjoyed it a lot and put about 10k miles on it under his ownership.

Lots of maintenance was done over the past 10k miles such as coil packs, spark plugs, Xenon bulbs, wheel speed sensors, fluids, filters, etc. as well as some general improvements like painting calipers, refinishing headlights and the leather steering wheel, 3 step paint correction and ceramic coating, as well as a brand new OEM Mercedes front bumper to eliminate visual imperfections.

The car has had extensive service done prior to our ownership by a very wealthy owner (no expense sparred) as highlighted by the VMI and all the CARFAX Service entries (mostly dealer serviced).
The two minor accidents on the CARFAX were there prior to our ownership and given the history and presentation of the car at the time, did not worry us at all.
The latest CARFAX entry is a faulty entry. There was no accident or damage, but we did not like the physical appearance of the bumper with its CA license plate frame and holes (no front license plate needed in Florida) so decided to have that replaced at a cost of almost $5k.
It was also supposed to cure some of the known Park Distance Control issues that early W221 / C216 have since they use invisible sensors inside the bumper instead of actual Park Distance sensors.

For full transparency there are minor imperfections on a car close to 20 years old: some curb rash front right wheel, clear coat slightly coming off on the edges of the carbon fiber diffusor, the driver side vanity mirror cover missing, small rock chip in rear window (was there when we bought the car), front passenger floor mat damaged in the corner (was there when we bought the car but did not bother us, as most times its covered by the seat), the dynamic seats work intermittently due to air bladders being old as is common on most of these, (it is not a matter of if but when), and the very common Park Distance issues when in traffic and sensor being sent off by certain year Ford and Toyota models. Supposedly some signal interferences. It doesn't happen very often, but when it does, we simply turn the Park Distance control off with the push button and it resets itself after 20-30 seconds. We were hoping the new bumper including internals and recalibration would fix the issue, but it did not, despite the money spent on it. Most MB specialty shops will know this is a common issue on W221/C216. Other than that, the Park Distance (front and rear) works great for parking, and so does the rear camera.

Overall, the car looks and drives amazing. Suspension is tight, no issues with ABC, fluid clean, car goes up and down on the push of a button, sits level even after days. The car is stunning, turns heads everywhere it goes. Interior and paint are in amazing condition. Over 320 pictures in the gallery trying to be as meticulous as possible in the presentation.

Two keys, tool kit, MB paperwork and books.

Please also check out the video.

This car is just as nice as the one that just sold on another enthusiast site - if not nicer. For those that missed out, here is your chance to get on your hands on one of these rare 40th Anniversary Editions. What are the odds of two going up with exact same mileage during the same week!

I will be in the comment section all week to assist and answer any questions you may have regarding the car.

For those local to the Atlanta Area, please feel free to DM me in case you want to come see the car in person before the auction ends.

Happy bidding!
