StackedLamps, the Protected Occupant Cell includes the underbody. In addition the gas tank is self sealing. The intercom system is not to talk to your friends in the back seat, but to give pointed instructions to those outside who might wish you harm. Works great.
As MRenner78 pointed out there was a sale of one of these rare Guard cars on December 23rd on Bring a Trailer.
There are many things special about the engineering details of these cars. For one, the wheels are designed and constructed so that if the tires are blown out, the car can still be driven 20kms on the rims. The objective is to see that the occupants can get through and away from danger, not to sit and slug it out. This car has not been modified other than the satellite capable head unit installation. This car came in second-have the engraved silver trophy bowl-in a regional MB event this Fall.
I have owned a number of singular cars including BMW 850 CSI VIN CD00001 and Guard cars are in this category. The original owner owned 40 cars when I purchased this one from him. It was his wife's car and always garaged and serviced at Mercedes of Beverly Hills. The car is in spectacular condition.
