This 1983 Mercedes-Benz 300D Turbodiesel was originally delivered to Downtown L.A. Motors in Los Angeles, California, and shows Texas registration history beginning in 1986. The current owner acquired the car in 2020 and has added approximately 2,900 of the 277,113 miles shown. Finished in Black (040) over Black MB-Tex (151), power is provided by a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-five diesel paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes an electric sunroof, power windows, central locking, cruise control, an electrically adjustable passenger-side mirror, and 14" Bundt alloy wheels. An oil change was performed in 2025, and service records and fluid-analysis reports accompany the car. This W123 is now offered by the private seller in Garland, Texas, with keys, factory literature, a window sticker, two sets of floor mats, a tool kit, a car cover, spare parts, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Texas title in the seller’s name.
The exterior is finished in Black (040) with chrome bumpers, bright window surrounds, and black protective side moldings. Exterior equipment includes an electric sliding sunroof, round headlamps with yellow fog lamps, a power antenna, and a heated rear window. Small areas of corrosion are noted along the trunk lip and an upper door-opening area, with close-up photographs provided in the gallery. Additional age-related finish imperfections are shown.
Silver-finished 14" Bundt alloy wheels wear Falken Sincera SN250 A/S tires measuring 195/70 and showing 2023 date codes. The wheels display wear to their finish, and a matching spare is housed beneath the trunk floor. Braking is provided by power-assisted discs at all four corners.
The cabin is trimmed in Black MB-Tex (151) with a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpeting. Zebrano wood trim accents the dashboard and center console, and a wood-covered storage box has been added between the front seats. Equipment includes power windows, central locking, cruise control, a folding front armrest, rear headrests, and an aftermarket head unit. Both carpeted Mercedes-Benz mats and rubber floor mats are included. The air conditioning is inoperative, and the required repair has not been diagnosed. The seller reports the remaining equipment functions.
A four-spoke steering wheel fronts a 120-mph speedometer, a 6,000-rpm tachometer with an inset clock, and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The six-digit odometer shows 277,113 miles, approximately 2,900 of which were added during the seller’s six years of ownership.
The turbocharged 3.0-liter OM617 inline-five diesel sends power to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. The seller reports an oil change was completed in 2025. Accompanying documentation includes service receipts and Blackstone engine-oil and transmission-fluid analyses. A July 2025 engine-oil report noted elevated chromium, which the laboratory associated with additional ring wear, and recommended monitoring oil consumption and retesting. The same report noted no fuel, coolant, water, or dirt contamination. Its identification of the car as a 1985 model is reported to be a clerical error.
The seller has added approximately 2,900 miles during six years of ownership and provides receipts and photographs documenting the work performed. Engine service included a valve adjustment, repairs to the throttle linkage pivot mount and all identified vacuum leaks, and replacement of the fuel injectors, turbocharger oil seals and gaskets, drive belts, air filters, radiator, and battery. The engine oil, transmission fluid, brake fluid, power steering fluid, and coolant were changed. Additional work included repacking the wheel bearings, fitting new tires, and replacing the brake rotors, calipers, hoses, and front driveshaft flex disc. The mirror and door latch were repaired, and the instrument cluster bulbs were replaced. Parts were sourced from Mercedes-Benz, MercedesSource, and FCP Euro. A previous owner converted the air conditioning to R-134a refrigerant; the system is currently inoperative, and the cause has not been diagnosed.
The Carfax report shows no accidents or damage, 11 service-history entries, and Texas registration history dating to 1986. According to the seller, the first three owners worked for the same company. The included window sticker lists Downtown L.A. Motors as the selling dealer and a total suggested retail price of $32,035. Factory books, sales literature, service records, fluid-analysis reports, keys, a tool kit, two sets of floor mats, a car cover, and three organizers containing spare parts accompany the sale.
