This 1983 Mercedes-Benz 500SE Euro was ordered through the Manheim Branch of Mercedes-Benz in August of 1983 before being imported to Arizona in 1986. This short wheelbase version of the Mercedes-Benz flagship sedan is finished in Champagne Metallic (473) over Brazil cloth (053) interior and powered by a 5.0-liter M117 V8 mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a sunroof, electric windows, central locking, power-adjustable and heated front orthopedic seats, climate control, and a factory Becker cassette player. As a European spec example, this car features desirable short European bumpers, euro headlights and the more powerful version of the M117 5.0L V8 engine. This W126 shows over 167k miles and is offered on dealer consignment with manufacturer’s literature, some service records, original fire extinguisher, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Georgia title.
The car is finished in Champagne Metallic (473) with gray lower cladding and features dual side mirrors and a power-operated antenna. Factory 15″ 15-hole chrome alloys from a later W126 example are fitted in place of the 14" factory bundt wheels. The wheels are wrapped in 205/65 Michelin tires which were replaced within the three years by the present owner. The selling dealer reports light clear coat fading on the hood and trunk as evidenced in the gallery.
The cabin is upholstered in Brazil cloth (051) interior with matching carpets and zebrano wood veneer accents the dash, door panels, and center stack. Amenities include electric windows, central locking, power-adjustable and heated front orthopedic seats with position memory for the front occupants, cruise control, climate control, and a factory Becker cassette player. The driver’s seat shows wear underneath the included sheepskin seat covers as pictured in the gallery.
A four-spoke steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer and 7k tachometer with an integrated clock along with gauges for coolant temperature, fuel level, oil pressure, and instant economy. The six-digit odometer shows just over 167k miles.
The desirable European version of the 5.0-liter M117 V8 features Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and was rated at 240 horsepower when new. The current owner has recently replaced suspension bushings and the exhaust system and reports that the A/C system performs as designed, along with other interior comfort features.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. Additional photos provided in the gallery illustrate this Arizona car’s clean underside, drivetrain, and suspension components.
Manufacturer’s literature, original fire extinguisher, warning triangle, first-aid kit and service records are also included in the sale.
The March 2021 Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists history in Arizona before the car was brought to Georgia by the present owner in December 2020. Walk-around and driving videos are presented below.

That was a great buy!

Fewer than 24 hours to go -- this W126 has met the reserve, so it's "selling all the way" as a live auctioneer would say. Feel free to comment here or call us if you have any questions prior to bidding!
One note, the ad states this is an airbag car, it's not. Most people here probably know that, but it is an ABS car which is nice to have. Did US cars get ABS in 83? 107, and 123 only in Europe, not sure about 126.

Good info on the fabric although I'd be reluctant to ever take the covers off- Didn't realize Brazil hides were offered.

@motorcarstudio Great. Thanks for the quick response.
@AMC_BK A/C has been converted to R134a, was recently serviced and is blowing cold -- heat works, as well. All power windows, power locks (including trunk and gas) flap, etc. are working.
@motorcarstudio Do the A/C & Heat work as intended? What about the power windows...do all four regulators work? Love this color combo...thanks!
@naccer Very helpful information on sourcing this fabric! I'll have to see if they have the fabric I need for my Euro S123 driver seat.
I agree the MB guys that a set of Ronal wheels or Pentas would look great, and maybe a set of mud flaps for that real ROW feel. Unusual spec with no sunroof, but orthopedic seats. Also has early / coupe door lock pulls, and of course that interior. That fabric is available from cabrio.de Looked on their site and it’s there. I found plaid for my euro 116 there and other than it’s not faded it’s the same. So, easy to fix that drivers seat or leave it covered.
That interior is a winner for me.
