The 190E Cosworth was originally poised to become a world-dominating rally car for Mercedes-Benz. Cosworth was engaged to help develop the 16-valve cylnder heads and by the time the car was nearly ready, Audi released their Quattro system which proved too much for any rear-wheel-drive rally car moving forward. Despite this set back, the focus was then shifted to the DTM German Touring Car racing series. Nicknamed "the baby-Benz," the 190E was able to cut it's aerodynamic lift by nearly half thanks to the aggressive kit. Additionally, the masterfully engineered 4-cylinder was capable of keeping up with the heavier V8-laden touring cars given the right amount of turns. The 190E 2.3-16v is special for many reasons but to put it simply, it's a driver's car with a driving experience that's somewhat lost on vehicles today.
