For the record... I do not know the seller or met him in person. Some may ask why I took the time to comment on this particular auction? I have high regards for sellers who take the time, money, and work involved in bringing a car like this to market standing tall. There is a lot of newbie collector car dealers and "flippers" who are making very good money finding clean low mileage cars and flipping them back onto the market with the benefit of a quick detail as their reconditioning process. Its refreshing to see a seller take the time to bring a car to market standing tall as this car deserved that degree of attention. I love the late model W124 V8 E420, and this is an exceptional example in a spectacular color combination and condition. Best of luck to both the seller and the bidders !!! Dean
You had me at the headliner !!! Nice to finally see a W210 without a sagging headliner. Very nice clean example. Best of luck !!!
@Stuttgart_Steel Excellent choice on not touching the wood. That minor hairline crack takes nothing away from the beauty and originality of this vehicle. In the antiques and collectibles world that minor imperfection would be described as beautiful patina. Leather is the same, as I like seeing minor wear on wrinkles on original leather as opposed to new. Many sellers make the mistake of refinishing one piece of wood and when it is installed it looks ridiculous compared to the original wood. The tone, color, and clearcoat gloss will be different. The wood in this car looks magnificent. When it comes to any type of wood or leather replacement I always say its an all or nothing process.
I can't promise anything @ilpatino LOL !!! I see so many sellers out there buying nice but "farm fresh" cars with needs and doing the old "turn and burn" with a quick detail and maybe an oil change. It is refreshing to see a car being brought to market properly sorted and detailed so that the new owner receives a turn key vehicle as advertised. This is an extremely rare event these days. The temptation is very strong. A lot of value present here.
If the good lord gave me only one talent, it would be the ability to spot a nice and well prepared vehicle from a country mile. This is very nice car boys and girls. The preparation items that have been addressed is refreshing to see and my hat goes off to the seller. You had me at the rubber trunk stops were replaced. Such a minute pet peeve item, but it shows the attention to detail of this seller. I have this one in my crosshairs. Very nice example of the muscular younger brother of the 500E/E500 W124.
Nice R107. Is the soft-top original OEM? You can tell by looking at all 3 rear windows and they should be stamped with a Mercedes-Benz polyglass symbol on each window. Top looks great, and if original even more so. You will best serve this auction with a few videos of the car running and driving. When selling a car like this 60-100 photos seldom gets the job done. Dont be afraid to add a lot more photos highlighting the vehicle's condition. I may be interested in going after this one, but would need to see it in person. I will send you a DM to see if that is possible. Best of luck !!! Dean
I have known this seller for many years, and he is a passionate Mercedes-Benz enthusiast. If you are looking to buy a nice W116 with an accurate description and representation, do not look any further than this listing. Just watch the walk around video !!! I recently got a number of cars into my shop that were sold on various online auction websites, and I can tell you without reservation that this level of honesty is not the norm in this world we live in. A lot of sellers are very elusive about accurately describing a vehicle's condition, and this is the perfect example of how to represent a car factually. The new owner will be getting a nice w116 and EXACTLY as described !!! Best of luck !!! Dean
Good morning. I stumbled across this listing, and I had to leave a comment. I owned a W220 S430 a few years ago. I originally purchased it as a "in between" car as my wife's car was up on a lease. My plan was to keep it for a month while I located another SUV for my wife, and when I did, I could not bring myself to sell it. I wound up keeping the car for 3.5 years and used it primarily for long road trips with the family. Absolutely no better car for that purpose as the power, comfort, reliability and safety is second to none. When I saw this listing I thought to myself, who in the world detailed this car to such perfection !!! I looked at the vehicle's location and quickly made a phone call. My assumption was correct as this car was detailed by a good friend of mine in Long Island NY. I have been professionally detailing cars since the 1990s, and I can recognize a real high level detailing from a "decent" detailing. This car was literally detailed by the best bar none. What a magnificent example !!! The undercarriage, interior, engine bay, and paint looks like its ready to be concours judged at Pebble Beach. This is a great car, and a lot of car for the money in today's luxury car market. Best of luck !!! Dean
This has to be one of the most attractive w124 wagons I have seen in my lifetime. What a superb color combination, condition, and offered by an experience and trusted seller. This will be a very interesting car to watch. Best of luck !!! Dean
Beautiful CL500 owned by a true Mercedes-Benz enthusiast. I know this car firsthand and the owner who is a great guy and very transparent. This is hands down the best possible color combination for this body style. Bid with confidence. Best of luck !!! Dean
Best value in the AMG market is hands down the generation post merger cars. W202,W163,C208/A208 and the car listed here today the W210. Myself as well as my in laws have personally owned 6 W210s since the early 2000s and they are incredibly comfortable and reliable vehicles. Just about any competent mechanic can service these cars, as they lack all of the expensive and sophisticated suspension systems and electronics of the AMG cars that came after them. They are true German Muscle cars that provide great power, handling, comfort, safety, and also a great exhaust tone. Looking for a bad@$$ AMG driver? You are looking at it !!!
Drool !!! Great color combination. Love the interior !!! Good luck. Dean
I remember when Keith Martin had the itch for this car. He took his time, did his homework, and waited patiently for the RIGHT CAR. Its was loved, and properly stored at all times during his stewardship. I love buying cars from serious collectors/carguys, and the new owner will be buying a car from a legend in this market !!! Best of luck !!! Dean
@Gryphon12 I have a PI on retainer. I want to get all the nicest low mileage R129s out there. Easier to just have you followed. LOL !!! This is a car we both would love to have. Great car, and a great auction.
@Gryphon12 Wipe that drool from your keyboard. LOL
V12 SA getting some well deserved love !!! Good luck !!!
I have said this before, and will say it again until its no longer true. The V8 C208/A208 is the ultimate "sleeper" car and the best value in today's Mercedes-Benz market. Love this car !!! Dean
Holy grail of modern Mercedes-Benz diesels. Will be fun to watch where this goes.
Beautiful W124 !!! Love the color combination. Do you know if the car is wearing all original paint? Mechanically I see you addressed a lot of wear related item. Anything not functioning 100% heat/AC blowing through proper vents? Any sagging in the headliner near the rear windows? Gorgeous car, and I am local. Any chance of seeing the car after the holiday? Thanks, Dean
NO RESERVE !!! You have to be in it to win it !!! LOL
There are ALWAYS going to be the collectors that buy only low mileage cars. A lot of them buy low mileage cars with significant and costly maintenance and cosmetic condition issues. The more you spend time with the cars from this era (in my case 25+ years) your eye gravitates the tell tail signs of usage and storage of the vehicle over its lifetime. Look at this vehicle's undercarriage, and its gray/white exhaust manifolds !!! This car may have lived in the Northeast, but I can easily surmise that it never saw a salt covered roadway. Park a car like this anywhere in the Northeast outside for 1 year and the exhaust manifold will be rusted over. Interior looks like a 20k mile example. Very nice car !!! I will be watching this one closely. Good Luck !!!
I was 29 years old when this car was sitting on the showroom floor. Everything was right for me to own one... Except my priorities, and financial obligations. Great car !!!
I saw this car advertised very briefly on another website. EXTREMELY BRIEFLY !!! Right here in my home state. OMG. A lot of box checking going on with this one.
This will be very interesting.
If condition is an important criteria in your W126 buying decision, this is a winner. Beautiful car !!!
@UI_Classics You look to have have a magnificent vehicle offered here. The radio code can easily be found by pulling the head-unit with these inexpensive tools. https://www.ebay.com/itm/253284210837?hash=item3af8ea5895:g:lyAAAOSwEOpaHktn Get the serial number off the head unit and call Mercedes-Benz or Eddie at Becker Autosound of Saddle Brook NJ for the code. Undercarriage photos would be a big plus, and judging from the condition of the white original exhaust manifold, I would expect it to be equally pristine underneath. Very nice find !!! Good Luck !!!
Nice... Very, very nice !!! Love this car with a 5 speed. Good Luck !!!
Exceptionally clean. Very nice presentation.
Over the past 10 years I purchased 3 base model W210 for resale purposes. All 3 of them wound up being kept long term and my son still drives one of them today. Nice driving cars, and very roomy and comfortable. These cars are also very reliable and easy to work on. A LOT OF CAR ... Nice seeing one as new again.
No drive video? LOL !!! Whenever I get a car with such low mileage and such athletic potential I also tend to be on the side of caution. I would love to drive this car at 70% of its potential, but it would require 100% of my driving ability. Fantastic listing here !!! Good Luck !!!
The first generation AMG cars are heavy on analog performance and light on the costly maintenance concerns of today's AMG vehicles. The W210s Achilles Heel is typically body corrosion which this vehicle has none. This will be a very interesting auction to watch. Best of luck !!!
My only W163 ever owned was a base model model (2001 ML320). I loved it, and drove it to Florida and back in the mid 2000's from New Jersey numerous times with the family. I would love to make the trip again in this. I bet I would make it in better time !!!
I got you @Michaelmotorcar
