This 1989 Mercedes-Benz 560SL is being re-listed with an adjusted reserve following a previous auction earlier this year. The R107 first shows registration in Texas with subsequent registrations in New York, Illinois, and Pennsylvania. It’s offered for sale by the current owner with 77k miles shown on the odometer. Finished in Signal Red (568) over Beige Leather (275), power is provided by a 5.5-liter M117 V8 mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a paint-matched removable hardtop with stand, a black soft top, 15” Gullideckel wheels, automatic climate control, a Bluetooth integrated Becker radio, and an automatic power antenna. This classic roadster is now offered for sale in Villanova, Pennsylvania with the original manufacturer’s literature, a full-size spare, tool kit, first aid kit, a clean Carfax report and a clean Pennsylvania title.
The exterior is finished in Signal Red (568) with chrome accenting the window trim, beltline and bumpers. Auxiliary marker lights and fog lamps are mounted to the front bumper. The black soft top was recently replaced by the previous owner and detailed photos of the top and rear windows can be seen in the gallery.The paint-matched removable hardtop features an electrically-heated rear pane along with a stand for storage. The paint is in good condition with no signs of rust and paint meter readings have been included by the seller.
Fitted are the factory 15” Gullideckel wheels which wear Pirelli rubber showing date codes from 2020. The wheels are in good condition with silver-painted OEM center caps shown. A factory full-size spare is included in the trunk along with a tool kit.
The cabin is trimmed in Beige Leather (275) with Burl Walnut wood trim on the center console and dash. The wood trim shows well without blemish or fading. Interior features include automatic climate control with air conditioning, a power adjustable passenger side door mirror, an automatic power antenna, a folding center armrest and an outside temperature indicator mounted in the dash. The original Becker Grand Prix head unit has been refurbished with Bluetooth connectivity.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts a 160-mph speedometer with other instrumentation including a 7k-rpm tachometer, fuel level and economy indicators, coolant temperature, oil pressure and an analog clock. The six-digit odometer currently shows 77k miles from new. Controls for the cruise control are mounted to the steering column.
This R107 roadster is powered by a 5.5-liter M117 which is factory rated at 227 horsepower and 279 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. The underside of the car underwent a complete dry-ice cleaning in December 2022.
The Carfax report shows linear mileage updates starting in 1989 and shows no accidents or damage reports. This 560SL is now offered with the original manufacturer’s literature, a full-size spare, tool kit, first aid kit, a clean Carfax report and a clean Pennsylvania title.
