This 1991 Mercedes-Benz 560SEL is a final-year example showing registration in Virginia and Texas from new. Finished in Arctic White (197) over Gray Leather (268), power is provided by a 5.5-liter M117 V8 engine mated to a four-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. Equipment includes power operated heated seats front and rear, a power tilt/slide sunroof, a passenger airbag, self-leveling rear suspension, European spec headlights, a Pioneer head unit and audio system and automatic climate control. Recent maintenance included new pads and rotors, new tires and an R134 AC conversion. The odometer currently reads 53k miles with true mileage unknown. This 560SEL is now offered for sale by the current owner with the original head unit, tool kit, a clean Carfax report and a clean Texas title.
The exterior is finished in Arctic White (147) with contrasting gray lower body cladding and chrome trim on the bumpers, window frames and side mirror covers. Exterior equipment includes a power tilt/slide glass sunroof, an electrically heated rear window, Euro spec headlights and LED bulbs for both the headlights and fog lights. The factory headlights are included with the sale. The seller states that the front and rear bumpers have previously been refinished. A small ding on the passenger fender is visible with minor scratches present around the vehicle. No major signs of damage or rust are present.
The factory 15” Gullideckel wheels come wrapped in a set of Hankook Kinergy tires measuring 215/65 on all four corners. The tires were mounted by the seller in September 2022 along with a new set of pads and rotors, wear sensors and brake lines front and rear. The self-leveling rear suspension was serviced in April 2020 receiving a new shock and an accumulator.
The interior is upholstered in Gray Leather (268) with matching gray carpets and a black upper dashboard while Burl Walnut wood trim lines the center console, dashboard and door panels. The wood trim presents well with only minor signs of cracking shown. Both front seats are power operated and heated and include two-position memory. Additional interior features include rear passenger footrests, automatic climate control, a passenger-side airbag, cruise control, heated and power adjustable outboard rear seats, a Zebrano wood shift knob and an aftermarket Pioneer head unit with a fold-out screen and aftermarket speakers. The original Becker Grand Prix radio and original speakers are included with the sale. The seller reports that all power accessories function properly.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer along with a 7k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock and gauges for fuel level, economy, coolant temperature and oil pressure. The six-digit odometer currently reads 53k miles from new with 8k miles added by the current owner over the past 4 years. True mileage is unknown and the steering wheel has been recovered with gray leather on the side grips.
This W126 is powered by a 5.5-liter M117 V8 engine which outputs 238 horsepower and 287 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. A new coolant temperature sensor was installed in July 2019 along with an R134 conversion while a new hood insulation pad was installed in 2021. Service history from current ownership is included and documented in the photo gallery below. The seller reports no leaks or drips from the engine or transmission.
The Carfax shows first mileage reported in 1991 at 7k miles and shows registration in Virginia and Texas. The mileage was reported as 145k in 2018 with no other discrepancies, accidents or damage reports shown. This 560SEL is now offered for sale by the current owner in Dallas, Texas with the original tool kit, radio and headlights, a clean Carfax report and a clean Texas title.
A video showing the underbody of the car has been included by the seller below.

Agree with Benicia in regards to the mileage maybe being 153k and not the noted 53k in the Quick Facts. Just basing this on history of VDO mechanics and the CarFax reporting 145,644 miles back in 2018. Still a very clean example of a W126!
I see u said springs r good
What condition are the seats, seat springs in ?

Hi Davidsbenz560 The seat springs and cushions are good, no sagging and good support. The stitching on passenger seat bottom cushion is coming loose but should be easy fix I have owned car since 2019 and have added approximately 8K trouble free miles. I have owned several 560SELs and this is the best one. I have several other MBs so I don’t get to drive this one much I have included pics of service invoices since I purchased car. As mentioned in description, AC converted to R134, replaced rear accumulator new tires, rear bakes and lines, hood pad, led headlights and fog lights. I was told by prior owner that timing chain and guides replaced but he didn’t have records. My MB mechanic Autoscope confirmed timing chain and guides are fine Regards, Thomas Hennen
Are the seat springs broken? Are seats firm or do they sag, how long have you owned it, and what service or repairs have been done on it ?

This is a very nice car and the best year to acquire. I note that the 6 didgit odometer must not have "clicked" completely to the 100,000 mode when it turned, and now it also shows 53,406.....my conclusion is that the true mileage may be 153,406, since a report shows it at 148,000 FEW YEARS Ago. great color.....
