This 1992 Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.3 Limited shows three owners since new and registrations in Pennsylvania, Kentucky, and most recently Ohio. The car shows an original 43k miles and is 1 of 700 Limited Examples produced by Mercedes-Benz. The included Carfax report shows dealer servicing from 1993 through 2021 and a recent oil service in late 2022. This 190E is now offered for sale by the current owner with one key, factory literature, an original first aid kit, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Ohio title.

The exterior shows some imperfections including scrapes and flaking paint on the lower front lip, a cracked grille, a door ding in the rear passenger door, and a spot of rust on the front fender in front of the wheel. The included Carfax notes no prior damage and shows a clean history.
The factory 15” 8-hole wheels have been fitted with a set of Michelin tires measuring 195/65 on all four corners. Braking is handled by four-wheel power-assisted discs with ABS. The wheels show some curb rash and scuffs.
The cabin is trimmed in Beige Leather (265) with a leather-wrapped shift knob and steering wheel while Burl wood trim lines the center console and dashboard. Both front seats offer 10-way power adjustability. Interior appointments include power windows, automatic climate control, cruise control, a locking glove compartment, a folding center armrest, a 6-speaker active-bass audio system and an original Becker head unit. The four-spoke steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock, a digital outside temperature sensor and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature and oil pressure. The six-digit odometer currently shows 43k miles from new.
This W201 is powered by a 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine which is rated for 130 horsepower and 146 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. The included Carfax report shows dealer servicing from 1993 through 2021 and a recent oil service in late 2022. the hood pad shows some pies missing and general wear.
The Carfax report shows three owners from new with registration in Pennsylvania, Kentucky, and most recently Ohio. Linear mileage updates are shown from new. This 190E is now offered for sale by the current owner with one key, factory literature, an original first aid kit, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Ohio title.
The seller has included videos showing start-up and driving functions.
The W201 was, by many standards, far over engineered compared to other competitors in the segment and cost Mercedes-Benz two billion Deutschmarks to develop. Initially offered with the M102 inline-four engine, this engine is tried, true, and frugal. Moreover, it still affords ample power for a car this size without sacrificing the feel and quality of Mercedes-Benz. While this car shows some wear, it appears to remain largely original and stock- something nice to see considering the mileage. Hopefully this one goes to a home willing to give it a new lease on life.

@dgh023 I would just email me. [email protected]
Hi Bud, it seems there are a fair number of people with that same name on facebook. Do you have any additional information on which profile is yours? Thank you.
Thanks very much - will do! I'll reach out on facebook shortly.
@dgh023 hello! Thanks for reaching out. If you have Facebook please search Bud Middleton. We can start a conversation from there! Thanks
@chris_ou2013 Any interest in still selling this car? I would like to make an offer. Please let me know a good method to contact you. Thank you.
Despite this particular car's rarity and low mileage, I unfortunately think it just had too many unaddressed issues and that really held back the sale price. Once all of the issues are addressed, this car will be quite the rare gem.
I would have bid at this price, but despite the low mileage it looks like a lot of this car's miles were in the Ohio winter... I don't envy whoever has to service the suspension parts of this car; looks quite rusty on the underside for only 40,000 miles.
RNM, too bad. I wonder how close it came to getting sold?

I just received another update. It looks like the AC unit was low on freon. They are currently doing diagnostics on it. He said it may be nothing or there may be a leak. I will keep updates coming as I get them.

Hello, I just received an update from MB that they found that the idle was too high and abs light is on(obviously for abs light). The found that the overvoltage relay fuse was blown, so they replaced the 10amp fuse. They said the Idle is now correct and the ABS light is off. They also did basic oil and filter change and stated there are no major concerns at the moment. Once I have the paperwork of what was done officially I will post it. And if I hear any additional information before then, I will post a comment. Thanks!

I have successfully repaired the broken front headlight wiper blade. I purchased a spare motor and DIY’ed the repair. Both wiper blades work as intended.

@W123_280CE The vehicle is being serviced tomorrow at MB of Centerville. They will be doing a comprehensive diagnostics and I will know more details tomorrow. I will absolutely upload the service records from tomorrow to the posting.
On 08/20, you stated: "I am getting the vehicle serviced at Mercedes Benz of Centerville next week. So, I will have service records for you by then." Did that happen, I would like to know the diagnosis on the ABS, pump and ECU are expensive. Please upload service records.
Is the ac working ?
I just got back from a drive to test the cruise control. I just never had to use it before. But, I do not see any issues with it. Works just fine.

@Motor275 I agree with you that there will undeniably be unknown underlying issues. However, factoring in the rarity and the low, albeit a bit harsh, 44k miles, for the right price this is a great candidate for taking it back to a “new” condition. GLWTA seller.
Tooooooo many undisclosed issues and probably more surprises for the next owner- PASS !
@herbie keys for 190E models are not electronic, and are readily available at reasonable cost at any mercedes-benz dealer.
@chris_ou2013 Thanks. When at Mercedes, could you please ask if spare keys are still available? I guess that they are not the newer electronic ones.
@Herbie When I purchased the vehicle, only 1 key was given. So only 1 key will be given. As far as service records, I personally do not have any. This is due to not owning the car for more than 1 year. However, I am getting the vehicle serviced at Mercedes Benz of Centerville next week. So, I will have service records for you by then.
Do you have any service history of the car? Do you have all original keys?
@chris_ou2013, I certainly understand your time constraints. If this car was in my garage it would be a keeper due to the rare variety and low mileage. Hopefully a long time MB enthusiast will buy it and love it for what it is and put it back into top condition where it'll only continue to go up in value. It'll be interesting to see how this auction turns out. Good luck.
@BabyBenzFan Hello, thank you for the comment. I will have to completely agree with your statement. With that being said, if the car does not meet the reserve price I will definitely try and find the time to restore this beautiful car. With a new additon of a baby girl to my growing family it is hard to find time to put towards making the car great again!
No offense to the seller @chris_ou2013, but imvho, it might've been better to have already dealt with the little issues listed in the description for this car. The best way to get top $$$ for your car is to present it to buyers in top condition. These aren't major issues and they won't break the bank. However, these little issues will be an excuse for bidders to unfortunately hold the price down for what really could be a top notch and rare variety example of the W201. Just trying to help you get the best price for your car with my very humble 2 cents.
@BVC500 I do apologize for this being missed in the description. Yes, there is a dent on the driver side wheel fender.
A rust spot in front of the front wheel…what about the giant dent? Nice car needing a little attention just like the description haha.
@Mbenzaddict Hello! The lights that are currently on is the windshield wiper fluid light and the ABS light. I have not tried the cruise control so I will have to get back to you on that along with better undercarriage photos. As for the AC unit, it blows cold out of all vents on the highest and second highest settings. When switched to the second lowest and lowest setting it seems to stop blowing.

A sweet little ride! will be watching this one. The "luxury" one of the two send-off models (the black 2.6 model was the "sport") that M-B offered on a very limited basis as they prepared to switch over to W202 production. Only offered in the USA. Not quite a "sport", not really a "designo", but offered many features as these special-order models, in a unique mix of colors and trim, with no options. The first factory "badge delete" model, by the way.
A few questions - there are warning lights on - I can't see what they are in the vid - please clarify. Is everything working? AC, Heat, air blows correctly out of all vents, cruise, windows, locks etc. Rust belt car - better under carriage photos would be helpful. Any service records/history available?
There are not many W201s left with this low of a mileage. This particular W201 variety is a rare variety. The issues noted in the description can be easily remedied to turn this particular car into a top notch example that will certainly attract attention. I hope this car goes to a long time MB enthusiast who'll understand its rarity and love it for what it is. My low mileage W201 and I will be watching this auction with great interest. W201s with this low mileage and in top condition will only continue to go up in value. I wish the seller GLWTA.
