A well-loved and maintained car in a great color combo! Truly impressive that the fragile rear door armrest speaker grills remain in place, and the muffler is OEM black (most replacements are silver and stick out like a sore thumb and/or are mounted too low)! My family had 300TE like this. It was the worst MB we ever owned lol, but maybe because as a young family, we used it a lot! New buyer can find an original 300TE badge on eBay, though not cheap...And the wood can be refinished perfectly by Madera Concepts.
A rust spot in front of the front wheel…what about the giant dent? Nice car needing a little attention just like the description haha.
If there wasn't an issue with the fit, it would not have got my attention. It's obvious to anyone who knows Mercedes and who has 500e/E500 in their garage. Original fit, or well-done professionally installed replacements, should not be that loose-fitting. There are wrinkles everywhere. Nice that the pattern matches the original, but the fit is just not right. I urge you to compare to any other 500e for sale as of late, like here: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1993-mercedes-benz-500e-49/
I’m curious if the leather seat coverings have been replaced. I’ve never seen MB leather fit that poorly.
@Jhoagg. Yep! Seller posted the photo I requested but never responded to my message if the car had been in any sort of accident. Hood was definitely repainted at some point because the underside rear is body color when it should be OEM black. Price also reflected work needed to be done, like the top hydraulics and the delaminated wood console. Cosmetic issues mentioned but no details. You really had to look at the photos carefully and know what to look for.
Can you post a photo of the underside of the hood, specifically at the back near the windshield washer nozzles? Also, are the grill slats bent or is that photo distortion?
Nice car and interesting color! But, I found this statement curious because it seems to be leaving out a potential fact that the car was repainted at some point: "The trim, bumpers, and door handles are reportedly original to the car along with brightwork shown in the photos." So what's NOT original - the body's paint that these things attach to? Given the lower front valance's lip is body color and not factory black (best shown in pic 14), the car appears to have been repainted at some time. Not a huge deal, but an important fact to some that is missing from the description.
Beautiful car, but I do question the belief that the paint is all original. The bumpers and lower cladding are glossy, when they were originally supplied in a semi-matte version on all colors with the exception of Signal Red, where you had the option of matching glossy Signal Red or contrasting darker red in semi-matte. The only other explanation is that the bumpers and lower cladding were polished, but even then they wouldn't be as evenly shiny as they are. Not a big deal to many and the finish looks excellent, but would matter to a nit-picky buyer that is looking for a car that has had absolutely no paint work.
