This 1991 Mercedes-Benz 420SEL is finished in Black (040) over Black Leather (261) and shows 164k miles since new. The car shows registration in New York, Illinois, and most recently Virginia for more than a decade. Power is provided by a 4.2-liter M116 V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes an electric sunroof with tilt function, automatic climate control, power-adjustable front seats, cruise control, and 15″ alloy wheels. Service records are available from previous ownership and the car is noted to run, drive, brake, and move under it’s own power. In this condition, the seller states it should be considered a modest project. This W126 is now offered by the selling dealer at No Reserve with the factory literature, partial service records, two keys, a clean Carfax report noting mileage as TMU, and a clean Virginia title.
The exterior is finished in Black (040) with contrasting lower cladding and bumpers. Chrome fender flares and door protectors are fitted and other exterior features include headlight wipers, a sliding metal sunroof with tilt function, factory front fog lights, and a power antenna. All glass and chrome trim is reported to be original to the car and the seller believes the paint to be original well. Scuffs and scratches are shown on both front and rear bumpers and the body shows various scratches, paint chips, and dings across the body. Detailed photos can be seen in the gallery below. Rust is shown in the rear left fender near the wheel well.
Factory 15″ alloy wheels are fitted and wear a set of Douglas All Season tires measuring 205/65 on all four corners. The wheels show general wear along with some curb rash and mismatched lug bolts.
The cabin is upholstered in Black Leather (261) with matching Black carpets, door cards, and gray headliner. Zebrano wood veneers accent the dashboard, center console, and door panels with noted cracks, fading, and chips in the veneer. Factory amenities include power-adjustable front seats, power windows, central locking, cruise control, automatic climate control, and an aftermarket head unit with auxiliary input for audio. The original leather seats show some wear including general creasing and a tear in the passenger seat bottom. Other flaws include a missing trim cover atop the driver’s door handle and marring in the rear seat leather.
The airbag-equipped steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer and a 7k-rpm tachometer with an integrated clock, along with gauges for coolant temperature, fuel level, oil pressure, and instant fuel economy. The six-digit odometer shows 164k miles.
The 4.2-liter M116 V8 was factory rated at 210 horsepower and 228 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. Service records are available from previous ownership and the car is noted to run, drive, brake, and move under it’s own power. In this condition the seller states it should be considered a modest project. Detailed photos of the engine bay, engine components, and underside of the car have been included in the gallery.
The included Carfax shows shows linear mileage updates and TMU mileage as a result of age. This W126 is now offered at No Reserve with the factory literature, partial service records, two keys, a clean Carfax report noting mileage as TMU, and a clean Virginia title.
