@manyMBthe timing chains would chatter for 2-3 seconds upon cold start up. M-B have a way to measure the timing chain stretch and determine if they need replaced. It’s a fairly common issue on the OM642, was covered under the Bluetec/AEM warranty and done at Mercedes of Des Moines. Hope this answers your question.
