This 2009 Mercedes-Benz CL63 AMG was bought through Mercedes-Benz of Orlando in September of 2009 and moved to Iowa in 2014 where it currently remains with the current private seller. The car is finished in Black (040) over Anthracite Nappa Leather (801) and is powered by a 6.2-liter DOHC V8 mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission. Features include Bi-Xenon headlights with cornering lights, Keyless-GO, power-adjustable heated and ventilated dynamic front seats with memory, a rear-view camera, Night View Assist, COMAND with navigation, an electric rear roller blind, and a Harman-Kardon Logic7 sound system. Recent service includes an oil service, front brake pads, and spark plugs. Now with 67k miles, this C216 AMG is now offered by the seller with a clean Carfax report, VMI, first aid kit, manufacturer's literature, and a clean Iowa title.
The exterior is finished in Black (040) and features a pillarless coupe design. Factory body work includes sculpted AMG-specific bumper covers, side skirts, and a rear diffuser with quad exhaust outlets. Additional features consist of Bi-Xenon headlights with cornering illumination, fog lights, UV rejection glass, soft close doors, a rear view camera, and an electric sunroof. The Carfax report shows zero accident damage in its history. The headlights show some crazing and the front bumper on the front passenger side is not perfectly aligned.
Staggered factory five-spoke AMG 20″ wheels are finished in factory Astral Silver paint and are mounted with Continental ExtremeContact Sport tires measuring 255/35 up front and 275/35 out back with 2021 date codes. The car is equipped with Active Body Control suspension that has controllable settings for ride quality. Some wheels do show paint chips and aftermarket security lugs are shown to be installed.
The cabin is upholstered in Anthracite Nappa Leather (801) with a designo Anthracite Alcantara headliner, matching carpets, and Burl Wood veneers on the dashboard, center console, and door panels. Plastic WeatherTech floor mats adorn the front footwells with original carpet AMG floor mats in the rear. The stitched leather and rich burl wood are accented with brushed metal and polished chrome buttons laid out across the convex center console, a design introduced on the C215/W220. An analog IWC clock is centered between the brushed metal climate control vents. Additional features include power-adjustable heated and ventilated dynamic front seats with memory, automatic climate control, Night View Assist, COMAND with navigation, a Harman-Kardon Logic7 sound system, an electric rear roller blind, soft close doors, and Keyless-Go.
The heated leather wrapped multi-function steering wheel frames digital instrumentation including a 200-mph speedometer, an AMG-branded 8k-rpm tachometer, and additional gauges displaying fuel level and coolant temperature. The digital odometer displays just 67k miles, along with digital readouts for various assistance programs, outside temperature reading, and infotainment menus.
The naturally aspirated 6.2-liter M156 V8 was factory rated at 518 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque. The engine features an aluminum block and DOHC heads, along with port fuel injection. This pillarless coupe can accelerate to 60 in 4.5 seconds with an electronically limited top speed of 155-mph with the ability to raise it to 186-mph through any diagnostics reader. The Carfax report lists 42 service history records exclusively at Mercedes-Benz dealerships with religious oil changes, four owners, and no accident damage. There’s nothing better in this world than a S-Class Coupe. Mercedes-Benz knocked it out of the park with the C216 as it was a huge step up in reliability and build quality over the beautiful, but not as well built, C215. We had the Recession in 2009, so you had to be someone of enormous wealth to buy a six figure, 500 horsepower personal luxury coupe when the economy took a nose dive. This appears to be a very good example to spend your money on if you’re in the market. It has the perfect amount of miles (be wary of anything with a M156 that’s been sitting for a long time) and the Carfax shows it has been regularly driven paired with exclusive dealer service and lots of oil changes. The black/black color combination pairs well with its brutish nature and looks menacing with the factory fender flares. We like the M156 over the later M157 and this has the added benefit of being a late model M156 car. We regularly have conversations on what would be the best Mercedes to take on a cross country road trip and the C216 AMG makes a regular appearance in our discourse.

Bottom line, it won't be sold, but thank you to everyone.@RobertTTanner 2nd bidder chiming in. While I absolutely adore a 2nd gen CL, comparing it to an E60 AMG is kinda like comparing a nice cashmere sweater to an 80's Submariner. 2k-3k of these cars were made and black/black was the most common color. At nearly 70k miles, I wouldn't say it's an investment opportunity. VERY Nice car- no argument but it's a far comparison.LOL...not good enough to part with it though. A 1994 E 60 that had been converted was going for a bid of over 100K. And I promise you, this car is a heck of a lot more car than that one. Who is to say what this could potentially go for in another 10 years.$18,500 damn good money for that car…$18,500 bid placed by @milacaboy

Robert, I don't have any ill "motivation" behind my questions or trying to drive the sale down. I love the car and have been looking for a similar example for a bit now. Just a handful of questions based on photos and VMI, prior to placing a bid on the car. Good luck with the sale.Just wanted to say that I had wanted a CL 55 or 63 AMG for years, particularly in black, and drove all over the Midwest when one happened to come up for sale which wasn’t very often. I probably looked at 5 or 6 of them and each one had a decent sized list of things that needed repair. I never ended up buying one and at some point gave up on ever owning one. Now this pristine example that has been very well taken care of and great service history pops up in my own back yard, less than 35 miles away but unfortunately I find myself more invested in classic cars these days and not in a position to bid on it. This is a very rare car in immaculate condition and not modified which is even more rare. Good luck to both potential bidders and the seller as the auction winds down!!I view myself as the current caretaker of this amazing Mercedes. I've been thinking over the most recent comment, and a reply for the past few hours. I will begin by saying I am NOT a person who NEEDS to sell this vehicle out of my collection, I am a person who WANTS to sell this vehicle out of my collection. A person cannot easily say what the motivations are behind making comments as you have made. Are they genuine comments, or are they comments made to keep the price low so that maybe at the last minute you can finally place a bid thinking that you might steal the car with a low bid. Or there is the possibility that you don't know what this car is, or maybe you are betting that I don't know what this car is. Either way, does not really matter. I'm not really sure what your motivation is. The very fact that the VMI shows that this car has been very well maintained should be the key take away. You should be more concerned when a person does not maintain their car. You are bidding on a used car that is nearly twenty years old and is by all rights in extremely good condition. This is also no run of the mill Mercedes. This car is special. The original MSRP in 2009 was around 140K. Anyone who knows what this car is and has ever had the pleasure to own or drive, knows exactly what it is. Try to keep all that in perspective. I have also been very transparent. There is a reserve that will not be lifted on this car, and it is not anywhere close to the current bid. For those of you who have actually placed bids, I want to thank you and good luck with your future purchase. Thanks for posting the VMI. As helpful as those are, they also leave me wondering. There are a few instances of where it mentions "fluid leaks". Any idea what that is? Have you ever experienced it? Also, does the car have PPF on it? Per photo 21 looks like it. Lastly, photo 80, can you confirm if there's a crack on the bottom of the front bumper/valance? Thanks!$10,250 bid placed by @milacaboy
