This 2005 Mercedes-Benz C230 Kompressor Sport is finished in Black (040) over Black MB-Tex (111) and is powered by a 1.8-liter supercharged inline-four mated to a 6-speed manual transmission driving the rear wheels. Equipment includes Bi-Xenon headlamps, a power tilt/slide glass sunroof, a power rear sunshade, a power-adjustable driver seat with memory, dual-zone automatic climate control and an aftermarket bluetooth head unit. The car received extensive work under current ownership including a full engine rebuild, new AC, new brakes and new tires. Now showing 188k miles on the odometer, this C230 Kompressor is offered for sale by the current owner in Forest City, North Carolina with a clean North Carolina title in the seller’s name.
The exterior is finished in Black (040) and features sport body styling including a sculpted front bumper and side skirts. Exterior equipment includes a power tilt/slide glass sunroof, Bi-Xenon headlamps, heated headlamp washers, auto-dimming side mirrors and rain-sensing wipers. The exterior shows some flaws including a cracked front bumper and chipped paint on the passenger-side A-pillar with minor surface rust. The Carfax shows two damage reports in the car’s history resulting in the front bumper being resprayed.
Aftermarket MSW 17” five-spoke alloy wheels were fitted with a set of Continental SureContact tires by the current owner which measure 225/45 front and 245/40 rear with 2021 date codes. The wheels do show signs of curb rash in the finish. The seller reports that new pads and rotors were fitted under their ownership.
The cabin is trimmed in Black MB-Tex (111) with leather seat inserts and matching black carpets and floor mats. The driver-side sport seat is power operated and features three-position memory which includes the position of the power-adjustable steering column. Additional interior features include a Harman Kardon sound system, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 6-disc CD changer, a power rear sunshade and an aftermarket JVC bluetooth head unit which was installed by the seller.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer along with a 7k-rpm tachometer and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The digital odometer currently shows 188k miles with 3,500 miles added since the engine rebuild. The seller reports that the SRS light is currently on.
This W203 is powered by a supercharged 1.8-liter inline-four cylinder engine which is rated for 189 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. The engine was fully rebuilt under current ownership including new pistons, valves and all new bearings. Additional maintenance items included an AC refresh and a new starter. Photos of the work performed can be found in the photo gallery below.
This C230 Kompressor was sold new in California where it remained registered until 2017 when it moved to Ohio and later North Carolina with the current owner. The Carfax shows two damage reports occurring in 2016 and 2018 both showing minor damage to the front of the vehicle. This three-pedal C-Class is now offered for sale by the current owner in Forest City, North Carolina with a clean North Carolina title in the seller’s name.
For many enthusiasts, a manual transmission completes the package when it comes to fun sports cars. Unfortunately, Mercedes seldom offered a manual transmission in the US market making a three-pedal Mercedes hard to come by. For the W203, a two-prog approach was used offering a Sport and Luxury trim in an effort to better capture the compact sedan market. The entry-level car, the C230 Kompressor Sport was offered with a 6-speed manual transmission which complemented the rev-happy M271 and the nimble short wheel base of the C-class. This example may have its fair share of battle scars, but a litany of mechanical repairs, including a full engine rebuild, should ensure that this W203 provides many more miles of spirited driving.

The cost of the new parts I’ve added in the last 15 months is about double the current bid. I hope that gives you all some courage.!
Good luck to all bidders. I’m looking forward to sending this cool Kompressor to a new caretaker!

The battery has been disconnected in the past as we’ve worked on the car. Might be that simple. 👍🤠. However if the winner of this auction likes I can still take the car to my local Mercedes Dealer when I can get an appointment to diagnose the SRS light. I’m open to final negotiation depending on what that shows. I’m committed to giving the next owner a happy purchase.
SRS light not ON because of dead battery in recent past with need for reset...that simple ?
Have you run the scanner on the SRS light? Any indication of the issue?
Thank you for the bids! I’ve enjoyed rebuilding and driving this interesting, sporty, and economical sedan! It’s only for sale because I have accumulated a crazy number of street cars The restorer gene needs curbing! 🙄🤣

@Rockster80 Yes, we checked everything and it was fine so we just fitted a new clutch disc. The gear change is sweet and the box is silent.
Good morning @Restorer1 Since you went thru the effort & trouble of rebuilding the motor...did you also replace the clutch or do any maintenance to the transmission? Thank you
