This 1972 Mercedes-Benz 300SEL 4.5 was acquired by the seller in 2017 and shows previous ownership in California. The odometer shows 91k miles and the seller reports adding approximately 1,500 miles since acquiring. Finished in Gray Blue Metallic (906) over Blue Leather, power is provided by a 4.5-liter M117 V8 mated to a three-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. Factory equipment noted on the datacard includes a heated rear window, Becker Europa, automatic antenna, and Thermoking Air Conditioner. Additional features include a painted sunroof, air suspension, disc brakes, and power windows. The seller reports all mechanical servicing to be up to date and records showing service history since 2014 are included in the sale and show regular oil changes, fluid services, and maintenance. This 300SEL 4.5 is offered for sale by the current owner with the original tool kit, two keys, service records, spare parts, and a clean Florida title.
The exterior is finished in Gray Blue Metallic (906) with chrome brightwork lining the front and rear bumpers, grille and window trim. The seller notes the paint on this example to be original with small touch up spots addressed. No rust is noted on the body or the chassis. Exterior features include front marker lamps, front windscreen wipers, a driver side rear view mirror, and dual exhaust outlets under the rear bumper.
The 14” steel wheels wear chrome hubcaps with paint-matched centers and are wrapped in a set of Hankook tires which measure 205/75 and show 2014 date codes. The spare tire is mounted in the trunk along with the factory jack.
The cabin has recently been recovered Blue Leather with new matching carpets and wood veneer which lines the dashboard. The wood trim appears in good condition with no signs of cracking. Interior appointments include manually-adjustable front bucket seats, power windows, central locking, climate control with factory air-conditioning and the original Becker Europa radio. All interior features are noted to function as intended apart from the driver side window regulator.
The two-spoke steering wheel fronts VDO instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer, an analog clock and a multi gauge showing fuel level, coolant temperature and oil pressure. Cracking is noted by the seller on the instrument cover/binnacle and spare knobs will be included in the sale. The odometer is noted to be operational but cannot be verified since new. It currently shows 91k miles. The seller notes the wood windshield trim/veneer to be chipped on the side as a result of a faulty windshield rubber seal. The seller is including a complete set of rubber seals, new dashboard knobs, and new heater levers.

This is the nicest 108/9 I've seen in a long time! Lots of 280's out there but not the 300!

Hello. Airbags were replaced by the previous owner right before I bought the car. They were recently inspected and seems to be in good shape. They stay up for about a week or so.
Could you please comment on the scope of recent service performed to the air suspension? How long does it have to sit before starting to sag? Thank you.
@Jcanabal hello. The window regulator is missing a tooth, so it jumps on the way up. A used one in good condition costs in between $200 and 300. The cracks on the steering are easy to repair they just need to be filled with any type of epoxy and then repainted. For around $120. A dash cover costs $175, or the original can be re upholstered, I have the best guy for that job here in town. I can ask. Wood trim, just the corner is damaged. To repair it can be around $300. I can assist with all that. Cheers
What's specifically is the issue with the window pon driver's side mentioned on description? Any idea if steering wheel cracks can be repaired? How much? If not, any idea how much for a new one? The dash crack, repairable? Any idea how much $? A new one? Wood trim on drivers side, any idea cost? Any info and help is appreciated. Thanks
