There is very little on this planet that pairs better than a long wheelbase W126 with a OM603 engine. This engine superseded the venerable OM617A by adding an extra cylinder and a lot more power. An in-line six is a far more balanced engine than an in-line five, so these cars are noticeably smoother and more refined compared to early W126 turbodiesels. We really like this pairing as this powerplant was more durable than the 3.5-liter OM603 that was notorious for bending connecting rods. The handsome color combination of Anthracite over Gray with Cocomats and just the right miles and just the right services done make this such a good candidate for a W126 lover to add to their collection. These are 100% daily drivable classic cars and can do everything from the long winded road trips, to commuting, to showing up at car shows on the weekend. The interior condition shows it was very well taken care of and never saw sun, the underside is proof it never dove in salty, winter conditions, and the services the current owner did says he knows W126s. Ball joints are a bear of a job as is spring removal for the front struts. Plus the A/C invoices and monovalve work makes this a no brainer buy for someone wanting a turn key diesel longwheel base W126. Plus who doesn’t like 27 MPG in a big-body Benz?
