This 1992 Mercedes-Benz 500E shows registration history in New jersey for a year and Florida from 1993 through the present. The current owner and seller purchased the car in early 2016 with 107k miles on the odometer. The car is finished in Black Pearl Metallic (199U) over Grey Leather (278) and powered by a 5.0-liter V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a factory sunroof, heated and power-adjustable front seats, automatic climate control, 17” AMG Aero I wheels, a three-piece spoiler, RENNtech exhaust, and a MOMO steering wheel. Now with 190k miles shown (TMU), this 500E is offered as a running and driving project showing thorough previous servicing, a factory tool kit, an included Carfax report, and a clean Florida title.
The car is finished in Black Pearl Metallic (199U) with matching lower body cladding as a result of at least one prior repaint. Various paint surfaces show scratches, fading, and clear coat failure with detailed photos shown in the gallery. Equipment includes US-spec headlights and fender lights, fog lights, headlight wipers, a sunroof, and an automatic antenna. The 500E comes fitted with flared front and rear fenders along with widened bumpers to match compared to a standard W124. In addition to the aforementioned paint defects, damage to the front and rear bumpers can be seen in addition to heavy rock chips on the nose, flaking paint at the rear fenders, and mismatched panels.
Original AMG Aero I wheels are mounted and wear Dunlop tires up front and Federal tires in the rear. The wheel faces show various flaws including scratches, flaking, and bubbling paint. The 500E featured Porsche-tuned suspension with a lower ride height than contemporary standard W124 models and also required a wider track for better handling.
The cabin features factory Recaro seats upholstered in Grey Leather (278) with matching headrests, door cards, and armrests. Burl wood trim accents the dashboard, center stack in the front and rear, and door panels. Equipment includes power-adjustable and heated front seats, an electric rear roller blind, automatic climate control, and an aftermarket head unit featuring auxiliary input. Various tears and cracks can be seen across all leather surfaces and the veneer shows cracking and fading. The original headliner has been replaced with alcantara. The rear roller blind is noted to be inoperable and the center vents show missing slats.
The original four-spoke steering wheel has been replaced with a MOMO steering wheel. It features a thicker diameter rim and an AMG badge at the center. The wheel fronts VDO instrumentation that includes a 160mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock, and gauges for coolant temperature, fuel level, and oil pressure. The six-digit odometer shows 190k miles with a rollback mentioned on the Carfax from prior ownership.
The 5.0-liter DOHC M119 V8 was factory rated at 322 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque when new. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission. It’s noted by the seller the engine and drivetrain operate as intended and partial records will be included in the sale.
The Carfax reports one damage report in 2010 prior to the owner's acquisition. This 500E is offered as a running and driving project showing thorough previous servicing, a factory tool kit, an included Carfax report, and a clean Florida title.

@MBTech96, early-build 1992 500E's do not have the CEL in the cluster. Cars without the CEL also have a black emissions decal over the passenger headlight. Models with the CEL have a yellow decal. That decal is missing on this car (actually, all decals are missing on the upper radiator support) so it's difficult to say if this car should have the CEL or not. The speedometer faceplate is incorrect for the 500E, it has the wrong shift points, as mentioned in the first comment below. Detailed discussion on the missing CEL's for early 500E are in this forum thread: https://www.500eboard.co/forums/threads/do-all-w124036-have-check-engine-lights.15668/

@MBTech96 ASR light appears to be disabled, ABS light comes on at startup, SRS light is probably disabled as there is no driver airbag. Quoting from an eBay listing of this car verified by VIN number in 2021: "The mileage is not a typo it really has over 500 thousand miles."
Wow I just noticed the instrument cluster is dead wrong for this car. There should be an ASR warning triangle lamp in the speedo (I think) and there's no check engine lamp in the bottom right corner. Did it come out of a 300D?? Lol
@gsxr Probably because the car has over 500k on the clock based on it's internet sales history?
@MBTech96 so the car ran well when I drove it around the business complex and it always fires right up however I didn’t take it on the road. I’m not sure about the sls because again I haven’t really driven it in 3 years I do remember servicing the sls system when I first bought the car in 2015 it needed two new rear hydraulic shocks to fix the clunk it was having from worn lower ball joints which is an issue these cars had. I don’t know much about the mileage discrepancy as I’m not the one who did it I’ve only been told by the previous owners about it getting rolled back for bank financing. The loans are all paid off and the title is clean and clear btw.
@ehabviper sorry for the late response if you want to come see the car tomorrow send me a private message it’s available for viewing tomorrow at 9am .
@Mercedessweden yes the electrics work , the seats move windows roll up and down, the steel on the bottom of the door where w124 typically rust are rust free. And the sunroof did work I will have to try it tomorrow to confirm for you. I don’t see much rust on the car besides the battery box I believe that’s from battery acid at some point of its life.

Hi seller! A few questions: Does the SLS function correctly? How well does the engine run (misfire, hesitation, etc)? The listing states "thorough previous servicing", what records do you have? And lastly, could you shed some more light on the mileage discrepancy? Thanks! -Chris
I have been asked if I will help with shipping by a bunch of people and yes I will help the car go onto a transport truck or drop it off at the Jax international port for international shipping no problem guys , just please don’t expect me to help pay for the shipping or deliver the vehicle myself outside of Jacksonville city limits . Delivery to the shipping port is no problem as I have a truck and trailer and it’s only 5 miles from where the vehicle is located.

One thing I should mention is that this car has wheel studs installed with lug nuts instead of bolts. I did this so that no new bolts are needed every time you change wheels. The studs are not permanent and did not modify the hubs at all they are simply threaded in with lock tight into the hubs and can be removed if a stock application is desired. Super convenient setup for someone who likes to have multiple sets of wheels.

Hello everyone, some of you are probably going to ask what the blue stuff is in some of the pictures I’ve uploaded and the answer is that it is plasty dip the car was electric blue plasty dipped in 2018. I have photos if anyone wants to see. Whoever is interested in this vehicle please know that this is a running and driving vehicle but it is a project it will need work to become a daily driver again. For example, the tires are not safe .
Photos of the undersides of the doors have been uploaded.
looks like this could be my 500E city beater. lets see
Interesting offer on this one. Part of me is loving the character in the aesthetic.
Can you provide photos of the door panels? Are they rusty? Thanks
Any details as to why the speedometer faceplate is not original / correct for a 500E? Also, can you post a driving video? Thanks!
