This 1992 Mercedes-Benz 500E was originally sold new in Atlanta, Georgia where it remained until 2023 when it relocated to Virginia with the current seller. The car was reportedly purchased new by a former Atlanta Braves player, Ron Gant, in 1992 and later was owned fellow teammate Mark Lemke, followed by a Mercedes-Benz Master Tech at RBM Atlanta. Finished in Black Pearl Metallic (199) over Beige Leather (275), this 500E is powered by a 5.0L M119 V8 and paired with a four-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. Service in early 2023 included replacement of both fuel pumps, front struts, and all fluids flushed including engine oil, coolant, brake fluid, and transmission fluid. Most recently, the car received a new temperature sending unit, fuel pump check valve, fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator, and self-leveling torsion bar. The interior was fully insulated in Dynamat for additional sound deadening and insulation. Equipment includes a power-operated sunroof, lower front fog lights, OEM 17″ Limited Evo wheels, Automatic Slip Control, power-adjustable and heated front seats, a rear roller blind, automatic climate control, cruise control, and a Continental head unit with Bluetooth capability. This 500E shows 99k original miles and is being offered by the seller with a Vehicle Master Inquiry (VMI) report, 3 keys including 1 valet key, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Montana title.
The car is finished in Black Pearl Metallic (199) with gray lower body cladding. Equipment includes lower front fog lights, headlight wipers, 500E-specific headlights, and a power sunroof. The 500E comes factory fitted with flared front and rear fenders along with widened bumpers and side cladding to match compared to a standard W124. All 500E's were assembled on a Porsche assembly line due to their widened track and then sent back to Mercedes-Benz for completion. The seller notes a minor paint imperfection on the hood with detailed photos provided in the gallery. The car features facelift taillights from a 1994 E500.
OEM 17″ Limited Evo wheels are in excellent condition and are mounted with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires measuring 245/45 on all four corners. The wheels were sourced new from Mercedes-Benz Classic Center in 2023 and show OEM part number B6 647 00 61. The 500E featured Porsche-tuned suspension with a lower ride height than contemporary standard W124 models and also required a wider track for better handling.
The cabin features front and rear sport seats upholstered in Beige Leather (275) which is also continued onto each door card. Burl wood trim accents the dashboard, center stack in the front and rear, and door panels. All wood veneer remains in excellent condition with no fading. The wood between the rear seats shows hairline cracks. Equipment includes power-adjustable and heated front seats, dual front airbags, an electric rear roller blind, automatic climate control, and a Continental head unit with Bluetooth capability. The seller reports normal wear on the driver seat and there are no tears or rips in any of the leather. The rear headrests are in their upright position and do not fold down. Under previous ownership, the interior was fully lined with Dynamat for added sound deadening and insulation. Pictures show the trunk lined with Dynamat and protective plastic covering the front floor mats. The protective plastic film is still on the driver and passenger side door sills as well.
The four-spoke leather steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation that includes a 160mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock, and gauges for coolant temperature, fuel level, and oil pressure. The six-digit odometer shows 99k original miles, approximately 3k of which have been added by the current seller over the last year.
The 5.0-liter M119 V8 was factory rated at 322 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque when new. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission. The Carfax report shows 20 service history records at the same dealer between 2010 and 2023. The Delphi tag on the wiring harness shows a 1998 date verifying it was updated early on. Service in early 2023 included replacement of both fuel pumps, front struts, and all fluids flushed including engine oil, coolant, brake fluid, and transmission fluid. Service this year includes a new temperature sending unit, fuel pump check valve, fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator, and self-leveling torsion bar.
The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage, and lists linear mileage updates since new. This 500E is now offered with a Vehicle Master Inquiry (VMI) report, 3 keys including 1 valet key, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Montana title.
The seller has provided a walk around video along with a cold start and driving footage below.

Thank you for posting the video! I have a 500E and love it. They are complex cars, but go like crazy when sorted.
@Stuttgart_Steel Awesome video from Leno and solid timing on his part! Thanks for sharing!
Leno just dropped this video on the 500E which is cool, if anyone is interested. Love seeing these cars get attention from the likes of him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hveWX6MvBWk&t=1552s

@DCMotorWerks Thanks for sharing! The ownership history of the car is very special and I'm glad you were able to share it with Lemke. The car has certainly been very well loved over the years!
Super exciting to see this car. Mark Lemke is a friend and client of mine and whilst not the internet/social media type, I did share the listing with him and he is excited to see where the car ends up. Cory, the MB tech that owned it is also a friend, super cool! he is very particular, having been the field service tech specialist for many years and fixing all of the problem cars for dealers in the southeast, this car will be a dream for the next owner in its condition as well as a great story!

@Dunlopilo As much as I'd love to take credit for being able to push that much air out of my lungs on a nonstop basis, that my friend was just the wind up on the mountain where I was taking the photos. Although I could pull off Darth Vadar for Halloween.
Ohhhh mannnnnn, that breathing on the first video, takes me to the Empire Strikes back and the malicious Darth Vader :)

Pictures have been added to the end of the gallery showing the updated wiring harness tag and keys.
@mbmutlu I was tempted to do that myself. The facelift tails with the tint remind me of the 210 AMG smoked taillights which I kind of like. But yes, matching the amber to the front would be a period correct look. Thanks!
@blakleyleonard , thanks for the response, I missed it in the description. personally, I'd just undo the the rear if I were to buy it, back to original, like a special rare car deserves. good luck!
@Woodhauz Thank you! The Evo wheels really do give it a proper look!
@mbmutlu Yes, description states the taillights have been updated from a 1994 model. This is how it was when I got it and I like both styles so I left the rear. The front corners were also updated as well to match when I got it but I prefer the amber up front. I'm happy to provide the updated facelilft corners to the front for the buyer instead of the amber if desired.
have the tail lights been changed? face-lift in the back and not in the front looks odd to a w124 fan's eye. Great car otherwise
What a stunning spec! The wheel fitment of those Evos is absolute perfection

@schwarzauber The wiring harness has been changed. I double checked the Delphi tag on it this morning and it is updated as of June 17th, 1998, so it was updated early which is good. I'll upload a picture of the tag this evening.
I got to spend considerable time in this car before Blakley bought it. The previous owner is THE GUY you want to buy a car from -- he's an open wallet maintenance nut (I know you're lurking in here, so hello!). This car is tight. Suspension felt new. Steering was great. Engine felt healthy. Bid with confidence. This is a nice one. Nice enough I almost bought it before Blakley got his hands on it.
beautiful example. has the wiring harness been done?
@Jano Hey! Yes it is to my knowledge. Earlier this year a new self-leveling torsion bar was installed and the rest of the system was all good!
Hello! Is the original hydropneumatic suspension system working properly? Best regards Jan S
Underbody photos have been added to the end of the gallery along with a video showing a cold start and driving footage.
@Windarto Thank you for stopping by and seeing the car!
I just had the opportunity to see this example in person. It’s everything that’s advertised. Super clean, great stance, absolutely killer presentation. And the wheels….✅
Beautiful 500e. Good luck to all bidders!

@Harrdware Thank you! I agree the Evo wheels are perfect on it. The wheels were purchased directly from the Mercedes-Benz Classic Center last year and are still in perfect condition.

Hey everyone! Thank you for checking out the listing for my beloved 500E! This has been a truly great car to me and it hurts to sell it. I'm working on some big plans for the near future which means letting go of a couple toys to make it happen. Please let me know if you have any questions and I'll answer to the best of my knowledge. I'll be taking a driving video and some underbody photos this week as well which will be added at that time. The car runs and drives beautifully and is turn key ready for its next caretaker. Cheers to all and happy bidding!
I have seen this car in person. All I can say is, if you are in the market for one of the legendary 500E/E500 models, this is the one - it doesn't get much better than this! The beautiful EVO 2 rims are just icing on the cake.
