This 1995 Mercedes-Benz E320 Cabriolet was originally sold new at Rallye Motors on Long Island, NY in October 1996 and has resided in California since 1997. Finished in Brilliant Silver Metallic (744) over Black (261) leather with a Black (740) soft top, power comes from a 3.2-liter inline-six mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. Features include a power-retractable black soft top, eight-hole 15″ alloy wheels, headlight wipers, power-adjustable and heated front seats, Tempomat cruise control, automatic climate control, a factory AM/FM stereo with cassette player, and factory active bass loudspeaker system. Recent service includes new front brake pads, brake rotors, and an oil/fluid service. The California car still wears the same plates it received in 1997 and has been under current ownership for 7 years. This A124 cabriolet now shows approximately 76k miles, 13k of which have been added by the current owner, and is offered with service records, owner’s manual, factory literature, two original keys, paint meter readings, a clean Carfax report, and a clean California title.
The car is finished in Brilliant Silver Metallic (744) with color-matched lower cladding. This A124 features headlight washers and wipers, power-adjustable side mirrors, and a power antenna. The power-operated black soft top is shown in its raised position in the gallery below and was reportedly replaced with correct German canvas in recent years. The paint is believed to be all original on this example as supported by the attached clean Carfax report. Paint meter readings are viewable in the gallery below showing median readings of 4.224.
OEM 15″ eight-hole alloy wheels wear 195/65 Michelin Primacy Mxv4 tires with 2012 date codes. Minor imperfections on the wheels are viewable in the gallery. Recent service includes new front brake pads and rotors.
The front and rear seats are trimmed in Black leather (261) with a matching dashboard, carpets, and door panel inserts. Burl wood veneers accent the dashboard, center console, and door panels. Equipment includes power-adjustable and heated front seats with position memory for the driver, automatic climate control, cruise control, glass rear window with defrost, and a factory cassette stereo with OEM active bass loudspeaker system.
The four-spoke steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer with an integrated analog clock, and a combination gauge that shows fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil-pressure readouts. The analog six-digit odometer shows 76k miles.
The 3.2-liter M104 inline-six was rated at 217 horsepower when new, and power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. A section of the wiring harness was repaired in 2017 but the entire harness has not been replaced.
The November 2021 Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists registration and service history in California since 1997 through its most recent entry in June 2021 where it passed California emissions.

Sorry for the delay in responding. I am not aware of any failures of an emissions test. I can confirm, however, that the car did ultimately pass its recent emissions test and was certified. On the subject of the wiring, Classic German Motors of Pasadena, California noticed a relatively small defect in the under-hood wiring that they believe was caused by a rodent in our garage. They repaired the damage but did not replace the entire harness. Other than the defect that was repaired, the harness has never caused any issues.
Any other information on the harness repair would be helpful as these harnesses are no longer available for this production number.
@mfiorillo No worries - I totally missed it the first time too 👍
My apologies. Thank you for the clarification.
@mfiorillo check the carfax report again. It states that the car failed and then passed the emissions inspection on the same day. I initially thought the same as you but you can see it says "passed emissions inspection" right underneath. Easy to miss, for sure.
Why did the vehicle fail the emissions test in June of 21’ and has it since passed?
I owned a cab like this for 10 years and can honestly say it was the most reliable Benz I’ve owned to date.
