This 1999 Mercedes-Benz SL500 shows California registration under two owners from new with 93,521 miles shown on the odometer. Finished in Brilliant Silver Metallic (744) over Gray Nappa Leather (238), power is provided by a 5.0-liter V8 mated to a five-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. The car features the desireable SL2 package which includes xenon headlights, heated front seats, and an integrated trunk-mounted BOSE 6-disc CD changer. Additional equipment includes a power soft top, a removable hardtop, remote central locking, automatic climate control and a roll bar. The original window sticker shows an MSRP of over $84k. Recent maintenance includes an A/C service and refrigerant refill, a new turn signal switch, new front fog light glass and a full detail. This SL500 is now offered for sale by the current owner with service records since new, original manufacturer’s literature, original window sticker, two key Fobs and two additional valet keys, a first aid kit, waterproof cover, hardtop stand, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The exterior is finished in Brilliant Silver Metallic (744) with a paint-matched removable hardtop and a black electro-hydraulic soft top. The seller notes that a new soft top was recently fitted and the hardtop headliner has been replaced. Exterior equipment includes Xenon headlamps, front fog lights, an eccentric-sweep wiper with a heated windshield washer, heated power door mirrors and remote central locking. Two minor damage reports are shown on the Carfax occurring in 2017 and 2022. In both cases, the damage is said to have been minor, only necessitating a scratch removal/respray with no bodywork and both jobs were performed by a Mercedes-Benz Service Center. The seller notes scratches are visible on the underside of the front bumper.
The 17” 5-slot Albali wheels are wrapped in a set of new Kumho Ecsta 4X tires which measure 245/45 on all four corners and show 2022 date codes. The spare tire was also replaced to match. The wheels were recently refinished by a Mercedes-Benz Service Center and show no signs of damage. A spare tire is mounted in the trunk along with the factory tool kit and jack.
The cabin is trimmed in Gray Nappa Leather (238) with a contrasting upper dashboard and matching gray carpets while Burl Walnut wood trim accents the center console and door panels. Both front seats are heated with 10-way power adjustability and three-position memory. Interior amenities include a power tilt/telescope steering column, automatic climate control, cruise control, a pop-up roll bar, a trunk-mounted 6-Disc CD changer and a 6-speaker BOSE audio system.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts a 160-mph speedometer along with a 7k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock and gauges for fuel level, economy, coolant temperature and oil pressure. The digital odometer currently reads 93,521 miles from new with 20k miles added by the seller over the past six years of ownership.

I thought maintenance was ok....what is deferred in your opinion?
@Jhoagg Non sport package and nearing 100k miles. It does look super clean though
I’m puzzled. Why wasn’t this bid higher? The mileage isn’t super low, looks like there may be some deferred maintenance, and not the most exciting color combo. But the damage reports do seem minor, and the car looks solid, so why no higher bids?

@CarObsessive Thanks. I usually ask the mechanic to check the A/C every year, but there has been no need to refill it. The first time they refilled the refrigerant during the period that I've owned the car was this year (09/2023). The A/C works great.
Additional videos have been added showing the soft top in operation and driving footage.

@ariakhatibi Nice looking SL. Just a curiosity question, are you having to annually recharge refrigerant?
@Virafp You can find both videos of the car's driving as well as the soft top operation below. I also asked the website's admin to add both videos to the car's auction page. https://youtu.be/sb9jM0kWoV8 https://youtu.be/OwQKVaGC0qI

@Virafp Thanks for your interest. Here are the answers: - The top hydraulics have not been serviced or replaced. However, MB technicians have inspected them 4-5 times during the 7 years I've owned the car. I used the soft top only 4-5 times during this period since moving the hardtop requires more than one person. The soft top and all hydraulics work flawlessly and are in excellent condition. - I’ll soon upload videos showing the operation of the soft top as well as the car's driving, shifting, and acceleration. - I don’t have paint meter reading. All body panels feature original paint with no body damage, repair work, or repainting. The only exception, as explained in the description, is a minor damage (tire marks and scratches) resulting from a tire blowout. The driver side's rear fender close to the wheel has been resprayed (with no body damage or repair work) by the Mercedes-Benz service center. Thank you.
Great looking car. Couple of questions - have the top hydraulics been serviced/replaced? Can you provide a video of the soft top operation opening and closing? Do you have a driving video showing shifting and acceleration? Any paint meter readings to determine if all body panels are original paint? Thank you and GLWTA!
