This 1985 Mercedes-Benz 300TDT wagon was special-ordered in Manganese Brown (480) over a Palomino Velour (954) interior and powered by a 3.0-liter turbodiesel inline-five paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Features include a painted mechanical sliding sunroof, automatic climate control, an original Becker Grand Prix head unit, power windows, locks, antenna, and an optional rear cargo cover. The car was ordered new by a Mercedes-Benz engineer who owned the car through 2016 at which point his daughter kept the car maintained. Records accompany the car showing regular service and maintenance from 1985 through 2020. The most recent services in 2023 include a valve adjustment, new filters, belts, and hoses, a suspension refresh, complete fluid flush, and new brakes and tires. This S123 shows 441k original miles and is offered in New jersey with the original window sticker, factory literature, complete records, two keys, an included Carfax report, and a clean New Jersey title.
The car is finished in Manganese Brown Metallic (480) and features chrome-accented domestic-spec bumpers and trim, glass headlamps, a painted mechanical sliding sunroof, and an electrically adjustable radio antenna. The trim, bumpers, and door handles are reportedly original to the car along with brightwork shown in the photos. The included Carfax notes damage to the rear of the car in 2001 and the seller reports the rear hatch was painted as a result. The car is reportedly rust free and detailed photos of the exterior are viewable in the gallery.
Factory Bundt 14″ alloy wheels wear Solarus tires measuring 195/70 on all four corners. The wheels appear free from any major blemishes and braking is handled by rotors on all four corners.
The cabin features seats upholstered in Palomino Velour (954) with matching door panels, carpets, head liner, and lower dashboard. Matching original floormats are installed for the front and rear footwells and pictured in the gallery. The steering wheel and upper dashboard are trimmed in Black along with the shift knob and center console trim. Optional Zebrano wood trim accents the dashboard and center console and shows nicely with no major cracks. The original dash is free of any visible cracks and does not wear a dash cap. Equipment includes automatic climate control with R134 converted air conditioning, power windows, central locking, and an original Becker Grand Prix head unit.
Instrumentation includes a 125-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and an analog clock. Additional auxiliary gauges include coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level which all function properly. The six-digit odometer shows just over 441k original miles.
The 3.0-liter OM617 turbo-diesel inline-five features a single Garrett turbocharger and Bosch fuel injection from the factory. Power was factory rated at 123 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque and is sent to the rear wheels via a 722.3 four-speed automatic transmission. Records accompany the car showing regular service and maintenance from 1985 through 2020. The most recent services in 2023 include a valve adjustment, new filters, belts, and hoses, a suspension refresh, complete fluid flush, and new brakes and tires.
This S123 includes a Carfax showing some history back to 1991 and lists linear mileage updates. The car shows 441k original miles and is offered with factory literature, the original window sticker, two keys, a clean Carfax report, and a clean NJ title.
The seller has included a number of videos showing various details and functions.

@w123enthusiast @Nws333 Let me be CLEAR, when I mentioned legal proceedings they do not include MBMarket Thank you
@w123enthusiast @Nws333 I apologize for the out come on the sale of this car post the auction. There is far more to this matter than what is posted that are in legal proceedings. If your interested please private message me or email me. Thank you
@Tedsbenz is correct about @stewil this seller is clearly misrepresenting his vehicles. He's been flagged on BaT multiple times. Make sure you test drive anything this guy is selling before buying. Buyers Beware!! See link: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1982-mercedes-benz-300td-turbo-37/
Very disappointed with how this auction was handled - starting from the unclear notice at each bid that the reserve was still not met, to MB Market allowing a vehicle to be sold after not contacting highest bidder so seller and potential new buyer could negotiate a price (as stated in “How it Works”), to the later claims from @Tedsbenz that seller @stewil had “scammed’” him, and that he did not receive the car he bought post-auction. Will be closing my account on this site. Correction: The MB Market has reached out to confirm that both bidder and seller violated site terms.
I apologize for the outlandish and baseless comments from member, Tedsbenz
Worked out
@Dougbp1 This amazing wagon has sold. However, I am working on two other wagons. Sorry you missed this one
@stewil Has this sold? Interested if available
Steve could you please call me
I’m local in Summit NJ . Is it possible to view the car? I know the auction ended but I’m interested.
@stewil , thanks for the response. I am interested in hearing more also.
@Lakeshoregroup I’m not sure how to communicate with you being that the auction has ended. I’m awaiting an answer from management team here on this site to advise
Great car. Would love it in my collection. Is there a way for the seller to post the reserve and potentially purchase? Sorry this is new to me.

@MSerpe The fuel injection is mechanical. Also a refurbished tachometer from The Adsit Company will go with the car
Nice car hope the next caretaker can take it well beyond 500k Bosch fuel injection on a diesel? Please clarify. Normally this has a mechanical diesel lift pump which, can be made by Bosch or Mercedes or others. Is that what you are referring to? Also, in video, tachometer appears non functional, do you know what the problem is? thanks
@willb3 Thanks for keeping an eye out- we've adjusted accurately and amended.
Why does the introduction say this car comes with a clean NJ title, and the closing say it comes with an OH title?
I would like to see this car up close. Is that possible? I sent message through "message the seller" feature. I am not sure if it was received as I have not had any reply.
