Part numbers are largely provided for this batch auction of original W113 “Pagoda” SL parts:
Detailed photos of each part are available in the gallery. The seller does note some parts have wear and age related patina, such as the grill and the US style headlight lenses. The chrome grill is complete and lacks any sort of damage from fender benders. The lenses show minimal UV damage, fading, or cracking with their plastic shell backings showing all tabs and no pieces missing. The rubber gaskets for the lenses show in good original condition with no dry rot.
The photos of the hard top levers and hardware exhibit minimal surface level corrosion and the plastic bushings are undamaged with no rotting. The brightwork exhibits good gloss and plating. The seabelts appear to be in excellent condition with no green corrosion working its way through the chrome plating showing the interior of this car was stored gently and in a dry environment with very little use – same goes with the tonneau crank arm. The gold Cadmium plating shows as new on the seat belt mounting hardware. The plating on the exterior trim and bezels show in good condition.
The Hirschmann antenna again exhibits no moisture damage with excellent finishes as does the trunk lock assembly, meaning there was no standing water in the trunk of this Pagoda. Rare OEM rubber trim, molding, and seals appear to be supple and flexible making them easy to mount to the winner’s car to avoid handling sub-par Turkish reproductions. The tail light seal does show a rip.
Removed from a 1970 280SL, it’s evident the car these parts were removed from was in good condition as the bright work, rubber, and plastics show with little wear or elemental damage. Provided are detailed pictures of all parts including all imperfections. The seller out of Cincinnati, Ohio offers world wide shipping with expenses handled by the buyer with local pickup as an option.
As W113 Pagodas gain value in the collector car market, the prices of the parts also go up in both value and rarity. Not a lot of these cars were produced and there are now many restoration shops across the globe that restore W113 cars, meaning there’s a lot of demand and very little supply. When parts like this lot pop up on auction, it’s wise for either W113 owners/enthusiasts or shops specializing in these cars to just bid and buy collections like this. While we’d love to see them go to good use, others might see this as a savings account that collects interest as the market on W113s get hotter and hotter every year. With places like Turkey reproducing decent parts to support the owners, nothing comes close to OEM Mercedes-Benz cosmetic and rubber parts like what we see here. Factory is always better than aftermarket. Especially for a car as deserving as a Pagoda and the full parts listed below:
