This 2000 Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG is finished in Brilliant Silver Metallic over two-tone Black and Grey leather upholstery, and power is provided by a 5.4-liter V8 mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes xenon headlights, a glass sunroof, heated and multi-contour front seats, memory settings, cruise control, automatic climate control, a rear sunshade, and a Bose cassette stereo. The car was first registered in Roanoke, Virginia by the original owner who immediately relocated to California in April 2000 where it remained with them until 2020. The car spent a brief time in Illinois with a dealer/collector before being purchased by the current owner on The MB Market in August 2022 who has added nearly 1k miles since. The car now totals just under 29,600 miles, and recent service in preparation for the sale includes an oil & filter change along with an A/C service. The car is being stored indoors at an auto storage facility in Virginia and is now offered with manufacturer's literature, original tool roll, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Connecticut registration. Connecticut does not issue titles for vehicles over 20 years old and the registration serves as proof of ownership which can be executed for the buyer.
The exterior is finished in Brilliant Silver Metallic (744U) and comes fitted with an AMG body kit including sculpted front and rear bumpers, side skirts, factory rolled fenders, and twin chrome exhaust outlets. Additional features include xenon headlights, headlight washers, power-adjustable mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, and a glass sunroof. All rubber seals are in excellent condition and there is no sign of rust or corrosion anywhere on the body. Detailed photos are provided in the gallery.
Factory 18″ AMG Monoblock wheels are wrapped in 245/40 front and 275/35 rear Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires which were mounted in November 2020 and show 2020 date codes. The wheels have been previously refinished prior to the owners acquisition. The rear brake pads were replaced in November 2020.
The cabin features seats upholstered in two-tone Black and Grey AMG Exclusive leather (528) along with matching door panels and head rests. Birdseye maple trim accents the dashboard, center console, and door panels. Additional amenities include heated and multi-contour front seats, memory settings, cruise control, automatic climate control, a power rear-window sunshade, and a Bose cassette stereo with a trunk-mounted six-disc CD changer. The headliner is fully intact and original E55 AMG floor mats are included.
The multifunction steering wheel is covered in two-tone leather and frames an AMG-branded 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer, along with gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The digital odometer indicates just under 29,600 miles and shows all functioning pixels in the digital ambient temperature gauge and clock.
The naturally aspirated 5.4-liter M113 V8 produced 349 horsepower and 391 lb-ft. of torque when new. The mass air-flow sensor and fuel filter were replaced in 2020. Regular dealer services are seen on the Carfax until 2012. The most recent service in preparation for the sale includes an oil & filter change, and an A/C service which consisted of a new pressure switch and full evacuate and recharge of the system. A receipt is provided in the gallery showing the work completed at the end of August totalling $930. All electronics are reported to be fully functional.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission. Additional underbody photos are viewable in the gallery below.
Decoding the data plate yields the following information:
The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage, and lists linear mileage updates since new. The previous California title is also included.
A walk around and driving video of the car has been provided below.
With limited production numbers, the W210 E55 AMG has become a rare commodity. Enthusiasts today are searching for the perfect car that still maintains a more connected, analog feel while providing speed, style, reliability, and modern day creature comforts. If that isn’t the W210 AMG then we don’t know what is. Many of the surviving examples on the market are well beyond 200k miles and, in some cases, are burdened with corrosion issues. This particular E55 has managed to accrue less than 30k miles, mostly all in California, since rolling off the showroom floor and has been cared for as a proper enthusiast example should. The naturally aspirated M113 will forever be hailed as one of AMG's most robust and reliable engines. Back in its day, the E55 was able to compete from a performance standpoint with the likes of the Porsche 911 and Chevrolet Corvette. The only difference was seating for 5 and a comfy, luxurious cabin fit for long trips or the daily commute. The W210 AMG is no longer a secret; it’s officially a sought after collectible and a must have for any Mercedes enthusiast.
We've been fortunate enough to spend some up close and personal quality time with this E55. The condition both inside and out is highly impressive. And this is coming from guys who've owned nearly 20 of these cars over the years. Behind the wheel, it's like traveling back in time and experiencing the greatness of these cars when new. There's no rattles or creaks, the suspension is firm and quite, the steering is responsive and tight, the transmission shifts are siiky smooth, and the M113 is undeniably strong and healthy. When compared to the later generations of E-class, even of the most recent years, we would choose this E55 each and every day. From a reliability and cost-to-own standpoint, there's nothing better. No air suspension to quarrel with, brake jobs don't cost thousands, no interior screens to fail, no supercharger or turbo to worry about...just raw, unapologetic analog wizardry from the powerhouse of AMG.

Amazing w210 AMG. Fast, muscular and a joy to daily drive. Its competed with the e39 M5 and overall the w210 e55 is a much more enjoyable car to own and drive. @matt818
@B613P back to bat? 😂
Congrats @matt818 this is an amazing car!
I,ve wanted this color combo with low miles for a long time now. Finally.
@Matt818 Congrats! Love to see it going to good home.

It's so hard to find one this clean. It's awesome seeing all the details of these cars looking like they did when new.
IMO, any price beginning with a "3" is a very good value proposition.

@993tats I think it may be fair to say the market has cooled in general since 2022, however, for certain vehicles, the W210 E55 AMG included, values have actually risen in recent years. The examples leading the way are low mileage and condition based. People are starting to realize the value in a car that blends analog and modern technology into one while also being low production number (rare), fun to drive (AMG M113), reliable, inexpensive to maintain, and robust (capable of hundreds of thousands of miles). Also, I think the $31k prior sale from 3 years ago was actually under true market value even then. In another 3 years we'll likely be looking back at how values only continued to climb.
@B613P I can confirm there are two keys with the car. I have no way of knowing if one was previously replaced, The headliner is not sagging and looks excellent. You can see it best in photos 163 and 238 in the gallery although I I added 3 more at the end (apologies for the poor quality but it shows it). I'll try to get back to the warehouse to take pictures of the keys but they are in great condition.
@B613P hello The video on instagram posted by blaklyleonard gives a great view of the headliner. I believe there are two sets of keys and like everything else with this car, they are in fine condition.

This sold for $30k in 2022 at the height of the market. Market has cooled significantly since. This will be fun to watch from here ! 🍿

How many keys come with the vehicle and are they original or replacements? If possible to post a picture of them would be nice to see their condition. Also, the listing states the headliner is intact, but would like to see some closer photos of the headliner by the rear window….or at least a confirmation from seller that it isnt beginning to sag at the edges toward the rear.
Thank you 🙏🏼 for the receipt and additional color.
@993tats Hey! Figured I'd jump back in since I've spent some quality time behind the wheel of this car most recently. Since the car has been stored at my facility, the car has remained on a battery tender, received fuel stabilizer, and was regularly moved and operated at prime engine temp. I took the car to my primary mechanic for a full inspection to see what all may be recommended to ensure the car is turn key ready for the next owner. The oil was changed proactively due to time since prior service, and the A/C was the only thing that was found to need serviced. All fluids were checked as well as suspension bits and mounts. Everything looked healthy and you can visibly see items have been replaced as needed over the years despite not having paper receipts. Over the 150 miles or so that I've driven the car it is absolutely flawless. There are no other physical records that I'm aware of and just looking at the Carfax I see the last time other fluids were recorded was 2012 at the dealership when the car had 22k miles. I could justify a fluid flush for the car due to time but there's nothing that I'm aware of that the car needs to be turn key ready to go. I've driven a significant number of W210 E55's and this one is as good as it gets. It truly drives like a new car. I would consider any upcoming maintenance items preventative. If a buyer wanted to pick the car up in person and drive to California from Virginia, I have complete confidence this car would have no issues whatsoever.

This listing states “The most recent service in preparation for the sale includes an oil & filter change, and an A/C service which consisted of a new pressure switch and full evacuate and recharge of the system. A receipt is provided in the gallery showing the work completed at the end of August totalling $930.” Can @seller please post this receipt ^ to the gallery? I can appreciate the sellers “assumption” that all mechanical maintenance was handled due to the long term ownership …but without any documentation I have to believe this example may need A LOT of work. Any maintenance documentation you can dig up would really help prove the exterior and interior condition extend to mechanical.
@B613P Thanks for your interest in the car. I purchased the car from a very reputable and recommended curator/dealer of fine and unique cars. I assumed from the long ownership history that this car was well loved and that the condition of the interior and exterior also extended to the mechanicals. The car is in amazing shape. I know that the tires were virtually new upon my purchase and as for the missing maintenance records, I only know that the mass airflow meter was changed out (pretty common in my experience) and the rear brakes were done. I am not sure I will be able to get tire tread depth measurements for you as the car is in storage many hours from here. Again, thank you for your interest in the finest E55 I have had the pleasure of owning.

@robbye55 please post some pics of the service history that seem to be missing from the Carfax and listing description: Dates when basic fluids were changed (transmission, coolant, differential, break, p.s.). The car seems so nicely cared for, cant imagine isn’t running on 25yr old fluids. Also, can you share with us the condition of the motor mounts and transmission mount & Current tire tred depths (pics). Car obviously appears to be very clean, which is exciting; however, deferred basic maintenance can quickly add up as a hidden cost to buyer after the sale. Beautiful car….thank you for listing it and giving us a shot at buying it.

@993tats Hello and thanks for your interest in the E55. This is directly from the DMV in Connecticut and I will deliver all documents and be available through the process of registering the vehicle if needed. From CTDMV: To transfer ownership of a classic car (over 20 years old) in Connecticut, you need the most recent registration certificate, a completed Supplemental Assignment of Ownership (Form Q-1), and a Bill of Sale (Form H-31), along with the buyer's identification and completed application for registration. The buyer will also need their own insurance, and the seller must provide their signature on the documents to complete the transfer. Please let me know if this answers your questions or if you have any others.
@993tats I've had the car stored in my auto storage facility, spent some quality seat time, and took the photos for the listing. There has been no reconditioning done to the car since the owner purchased the car in 2022 on The MB Market. Upon close inspection, I don't see any pitting or blemishes on the front bumper or grille. The only blemishes I saw are pointed out with my finger in the photos. Based on what you're saying you observed in the prior listings from BaT, I would presume the front bumper was refinished since that time, but not under current ownership. Looking at the wheels, I don't see any clear issues on the lips. There are minor chips on the faces, primarily around the lug holes, and they appear to have been previously refinished to some degree. Again, not under current ownership. Underneath I didn't see any bolts or hardware with rust. I expected some surface rust but the underbody photos show pretty clearly all the bits. Also, I just got paint meter readings added to the gallery. Hope that helps!
Paint meter readings have been added to the gallery.
Does the Connecticut Registration have a Transferable Registration card? Meaning is there a place on the registration to sign it over to the new buyer like you would a title. (Connecticut does not issue titles for vehicles over 20 years old and the registration serves as proof of ownership which can be executed for the buyer. The previous California title is also included. )
@sirmathrocks It looks like 1,200 or so produced for the worldwide market and only 500 for the USA
How many of these were made?
$22,250 bid placed by @993tats
@mbmarket do you mind posting paint meter readings to help us bidders see what panels (if any) have been resprayed? Looking back at the prior two BAT auctions I can see the front bumper was pitted with stone chips, the black mesh grills had some minor damage, and there were some bolts/hardware with rust. Has that been addressed or still in same condition? Cant tell from lighting in these current photos. Finally can you share more info regarding condition of the wheels? Is the clear coat peeling from over the machined lips as seen in prior auction photos or were wheels refinished? Thank you! 🙏🏼
