Hello lovely car, thanks for posting it couple questions does it pass the self leveling test? perhaps a video of that is possible? when was the last time the hydraulic spheres were changed? any vacuum leaks? would help to post the service records, only one is shown from 5 yrs ago with some minor stuff
Gorgeous car, these are extremely well put together because AMG Alfalterbach went thru these cars and did quality control after it left Graz, and then AMG Japan would go thru a 3rd time and do another round AMG code is standard 500GE All the 500GE cars had left over AMG S class engines, with some built in the 1980s! The S class project did not sell as well as thought, and over 500 engines were left over on the shelf. The 500GE AMG option codes meant that AMG would fit these left over engines, AMG instrument cluster, 2 diff lock spec instead of 3 diff locks, rear heated seats for some markets, colored contrast seat inserts, and the wood center console would have the AMG logo and signature. I think likely AMG Japan removed the original wood parts and redid them or refit the car with the different ones we see on this specimen. AMG sticker on rear corner is just a dealership sticker, from AMG Japan. There are normal 300GE and G320 cars that are completely stock that have this sticker. It just means it was sold thru the dealership, of AMG Japan. Many were partner sales with Yanase, AMG Japan's largest partner in the market, and Daimler's largest importer for decades.
Great truck, love the paintwork on these. Don't fear the lack of front locker you barely need it anyway. I am often asked to compare where this stands on power with the M117 170 PS / 168 hp (ECE) of power, 235 Nm / 173 lb-ft 300GE 231 PS / 228 hp (ECE) of power, 365 Nm / 269 lb-ft of torque 500GE M117 211 PS / 208 hp ( ECE ), torque: 300 Nm / 221 lb-ft 1994-1997 G320 258+ PS / 255-278 hp ( ECE ), torque: 380 Nm-400 / 280-300 lb-ft G36 AMG 215 PS / 212 hp ( ECE ), torque: 300 Nm / 221 lb-ft 1998- G320 V6 296 PS / 292 hp ( ECE ), torque: 456 Nm / 336 lb-ft 1998- G500
@axle if you win, and do the long overdue trans service, don't forget to also get a new gasket seal for the part leading up to the shifter tunnel/conductor plate. Might as well do that job while you have the pan and filter out. These gearboxes all need that at this point.

Getting down to the wire on this unobtain-ium Brabus original masterpiece. If there are any last questions let me know
Hi Folks The details for this head can be found on the original Brabus literature located here: https://www.w124performance.com/docs/mb/articles/Brabus_Catalog_1993.pdf What I was told is that to get max lower 260-285bhp folks would fabricate their own sharp profile cam or have Brabus make one. This would be combined with headers and sometimes Cat removed ( track only ). However in catalogue it shows head only option for added engine breathability running stock cam and lifters and raising stock bhp to 207.
Could be titled in US but requires conversion/certification to US DOT/EPA standards by a NHTSA Registered Importer since it is not 25 yrs. old. It is eligible since they did sell these here (chassis is on the crash test approved list)

@GASMotorcars Thanks for the thorough reply on my questions and I look forward to the upcoming undercarriage photos. The recall that is shown on the carfax is not a brake recall, although, yes that was one from the past and I am glad to see that was addressed as you mentioned by MB HH. The current one which was issued in January 2023 is as follows: 01/19/2023 Mercedes-Benz USA LLC Manufacturer Safety recall issued NHTSA #22V954 Recall #2023010006 Recall - Safety Title Topic: Bonding of the Sliding Roof PENDING 22P2197578 MY: 2001-2011 Model(s): E320CDI, E320, E350, E500 Status: Remedy Available Description: Mercedes-Benz AG ("MBAG"), the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has determined that on certain Model Year ("MY") 2001 2011 C-Class, CLK (209 platform), E-Class (211 platform) and CLS (219 platform) vehicles, the bonding between the glass sunroof panel and the sliding roof frame might not meet specifications. In this case, the adhesion of the bond might deteriorate gradually over time. Therefore, the specified durability requirements of the bond would not be guaranteed. As a consequence, a separation of the glass panel from the vehicle cannot be ruled out. This could increase the risk of a potential accident and/or injury for other road users. As a precautionary measure an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer, will check the glass panel bonding on the affected vehicles and replace the sliding roof, if necessary In this case, the adhesion of the bond might deteriorate gradually over time. Hi nice car, some questions... For the "full fluid flush"....does that include transmission fluid, brake fluid, coolant, radiator fluid, and rear differential gear oil? Do you have photos showing the underside of the car, the suspension, brakes, rocker panels, etc? Was the NHTSA recall (shown) on carfax taken care of at an MB dealer yet? thanks
@NickG Can you please post some photos showing the condition underneath the car? Concern for rust and corrosion given its east coat use history. Thank you.
Might you have any underside pics? Its pretty important given European history. Let us know if you can share. Also interested in photos under/behind the quarter panel with the different paint readings
Shows just how strong that 55k bid was on the previous attempt. Seller prolly should have taken it. Oh well. On to the next!
@Clau73 Appears to not have made reserve? So is the car still for sale? price?
it does have a rather interesting location for the rear DOT side marker lights but I guess it keeps em dry !
@BlueridgeMB. Good point about VT For VT......do they make you bring the car to the DMV office or at least go in person to the physical office? (ie tough for someone in CA). I was reading their site recently and I thought it at least required a person to go to physical DMV not do remote (whereas south dakota and MT is by mail / fax / email only)
@Clau73. Good work showing the lockers actuating, much better video. did they have any trouble turning off? (sometimes they can get a little sticky if not used often, nothing major) BTW if you want to do a "useable" overland build then stick with G500 or G550. G550 with correct progressive rate springs, 33-35" tires aired down to 12-22 psi, running boards removed, and maybe a front winch bumper is about all you need to do 99.9% of any trail in USA. Rock sliders and rear bumper that can support weight of car nice options but not required. @Jdugally As a 49 state gray mkt car it would take hiring on a CARB certified conversion and testing lab in order to go thru the process. The cost is about $8-14k depending on who you use, and timing. I say timing because pricing is not set in stone and when demand is higher we see higher prices asked and longer wait times.
@Clau73 Video does not show lockers engaging. Hitting the buttons and getting orange light only shows nothing. In order to actuate lockers, you need to be on loose ground only. First you activate center and get it to lock, meaning, the red light on the right of the switch will light up, and your ABS will be shut off. Now you are in 50/50 split mode and you will feel it (heavier steering, but better pointing and tracking of front end on turns in loose material, etc). Then you actuate rear locker, orange light first, then (while rolling as slow as the truck goes) you allow to engage, and red light will show on right of switch. Then you will be able to really feel difference, dragging in the back on turns in the loose, but major forward traction. Lastly, you test the front. This will seriously take away steering ability, so you do it while going straight. Same thing, its not locked until you see red light to right of switch, then you will feel incredibly difficult steering resistance. You are now triple locked. Do the reverse order to take off the system, turn off front first, then rear, get them to be off entirely, then center, no lights, you will feel difference back to normal split and unlocked diffs. Reshoot the video. Just trying to help as it appears who whomever demonstrated in the video does not understand how the car functions. Flushing the locker hydraulic system is required every 3-4 years, as is changing the diff and t-case fluids, that is why I had asked before. Answer in regards to dealer doing maintenance that appears needed would be irrelevant as these don't appear unless empty or fluid is black, so with out a record, in order to benchmark, all fluids should be flushed.
Two other questions that came up was whether or not the front and rear driveshafts were replaced or their u-joints when the vehicle was fit with the thor springs? Are there any vibrations felt at various speeds? Thank you!
Have things in the service manual been addressed? The below are the normal service items, nothing overly crazy, that are needed on every G every few years. ie: flush diff fluids, flush t-case fluid, lube knuckle housings, lube and balance driveshafts, re-pack CVs on center cardan shaft, axle outer seals and bearings, and has the wiring harness been checked out (1993-1995 very problematic due to plastics used at this time). Diff locker system flush and bleed, and sliding lockers excercised? Power steering box adjusted? Coolant flushed? Replace with appropriate MB coolant ? Transmission flush and filter? Thank you for insights on these so we can know what to budget for. Great looking truck and fairly special Brabus package. GLWTS

GLWTS
