This 2009 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG Black Series is one of 350 examples produced, 175 of which were designated for the US market. It was sold new in Connecticut, and remained in the metro area until 2013 when it was sold to a new owner in Oklahoma. Finished in Obsidian Black (197) over Exclusive Black/Anthracite (531A) leather upholstery, power is provided by a twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter V12 paired with a paddle-shifted five-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. Features include widened Black Series carbon-fiber bodywork, a fixed carbon-fiber roof, 19″ and 20″ AMG twin-spoke alloy wheels, an adjustable suspension, slotted and drilled brake rotors, Electronic Stability Control, bi-xenon headlights, an Alcantara headliner, carbon-fiber interior trim, dual-zone automatic climate control, Keyless-Go, COMAND infotainment with navigation, and a Harman Kardon LOGIC7 sound system. Service in 2022 included an oil/filter service, flushing the brake fluid, the coolant, a transmission service, a cooling system service, as well as replacing the spark plugs, air filter, cabin filter, fuel filter, a rear differential service/fluid flush, and new tires. A complimentary “B” service will be performed prior to delivery/pickup by the new owner. This AMG Black Series has 12k miles and is now offered by the selling dealer in Los Angeles with manufacturer’s literature, first aid kit, partial service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Oklahoma title.
Compared to the contemporary SL65, Black Series cars feature widened carbon-fiber bodywork and a fixed carbon-fiber roof. This example is finished in Obsidian Black (197) and features bi-xenon headlamps with washers and adaptive cornering as well as a speed-sensitive carbon-fiber rear spoiler, a rear diffuser, and polished exhaust outlets. The rear tail lights and side markers have been tinted under prior ownership but can be easily restored to OEM should the next owner choose to do so. The front clip has received a full Xpel PPF treatment to protect the fascia from rock chips or other potential road damage.
The forged 19″ and 20″ AMG twin-spoke alloy wheels are mounted with Dunlop SP Sport MAXX GT tires measuring 265/35 up front and 325/30 at the rear. The track is widened by 4.5” at the front and 4.1” at the rear compared to a standard SL65, and the car features an active-roll stabilization system and Electronic Stability Control. Stopping power is provided by silver AMG-branded calipers over slotted and cross-drilled rotors at all four corners. The brake fluid was flushed in 2021.
The cabin features power-adjustable multi-contour sport seats trimmed in Exclusive Black leather (531A) with model-specific contrast stitching along with a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpeting. Carbon-fiber trim accents the center console and doors, and amenities include dual-zone automatic climate control, COMAND infotainment with navigation, Keyless-Go, an Alcantara headliner, and a Harman Kardon LOGIC7 sound system with an in-dash six-disc CD changer. The shift knob denotes the car as one of 175 designated for the US market.
The leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel fronts paddle shifters, a 220-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The digital odometer indicates 12k miles, approximately 80 of which were added by the selling dealer over the past four months.
The hand-assembled 6.0-liter V12 features enlarged twin turbochargers that are unique to Black Series cars, and power was factory rated at 661 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque. A plaque bearing the name of the engine’s builder is affixed to the engine cover. Service in 2021 included replacing the coolant, performing an oil change, and replacing the spark plugs, air filter, cabin filter and cabin filter.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via an AMG Speedshift five-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. The transmission fluid was flushed in 2021 along with a differential service and fluid flush. The seller notes a “B” service will be performed for the winning bidder prior to pickup/delivery.
The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists history in Connecticut and Oklahoma.

Just an FYI, I have cataloged all the R230 SL65s, including the BS. They made 400 Blacks, not 350. 175 to US and the other 225 to ROW. Doesn't change a whit how much they are worth or how desirable but facts are stubborn. GLWA

@Delano_JD Hi there. The taillights and side marker lights do have a tiny film applied which will be easy to heat and then remove…I toyed with the idea of removing prior to the auction, but decided to leave it up to the next owner - I can take care of removal, should a winner wish
@McNuckie - Thank you for your bid.
Great looking example. Seller - can the tail light lenses be easily returned to stock? Is it a tint film that can be peeled off or are tinted replacement lenses installed which need to be switched out? Thanks.

Absolutely epic spec!
Best investment you can make is AMG Black Series and aside from SLS, the SL65 is top. This probably has even more upside than the SLS considering where prices are already for them.
