This 1995 Mercedes-Benz E36 AMG began life as a German-market example and shows the 957 AMG Engineering code on the datacard indicating the car was converted by AMG when new. The car was then sent to BRABUS for a full 6.0 conversion with accompanying invoices from 1995. The BRABUS conversion includes a 6.0L M119 engine build, 300km/h gauge cluster, shift knob, floor mats, removable hardtop, and BRABUS monoblock wheels. Finished in Azurite Blue Metallic (366) over Grey Leather (268), the car features its original gen 2 AMG body kit. The sale includes original BRABUS invoices from conversion totalling over 200k German Deutsche Marks (DEM) in 1995, on top of the cost of the new E36. Recent service includes a complete transmission overhaul, new H&R springs, a new exhuast system, two new catalytic converters, ignition cables, and a new engine wiring harness. Now showing 107,670 kilometers (~67k miles), this documented E36 6.0L BRABUS is now offered for sale in Germany with 65,000 Euros worth of service records, original BRABUS invoices, original Mercedes sales order, 5 infrared keys, hardtop lift, and a clean German title. The seller is able to ship with international shipping as needed.
The body is finished in Azurite Blue Metallic (366) and features matching painted trim with an authentic Gen 2 AMG body kit consisting of both front and rear bumpers, and side skirts. The body kit was fitted by AMG when new as part of the E36 conversion as noted by the original sales order and 957 code on the datacard. Exterior equipment includes original Euro glass headlights, a power adjustable passenger-side mirror, folding blue soft top, and a removable paint-matched hardtop. The hardtop is made of fiberglass-reinforced plastic with an original Mercedes-Benz C124 rear window and control unit. A hardtop lift is also included. The seller reports the front fenders and bumpers were previously repainted. The paint quality is reportedly in excellent condition with no signs of fading.
Fitted to the car are authentic multi-piece 18" BRABUS Monoblock wheels which come wrapped in a set of Pirelli P-Zero tires measuring 225/40 front and 245/35 rear. Each wheel shows original BRABUS stamps and come with period correct center caps. The car is fitted with new H&R springs and upgraded brakes from a R129 SL600 with 345mm front and 300mm rear disc brakes.
The four-spoke AMG steering wheel features leather and wood around the rim with AMG embossed on the spokes. The BRABUS gauge cluster features a 300 kph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature and oil pressure. The six-digit mechanical odometer currently shows 107,670km (~67k miles) from new.
The car originally came equipped with an AMG-tuned 3.6L engine as an authentic E36 conversion when new. The car was then sent to BRABUS for further upgrades which included a 6.0L M119 engine. BRABUS took an original E50 AMG M119 engine and bored it to 6.0L with a solid lifter conversion as well as headers. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. Original BRABUS invoices from the conversion performed in 1995 denote the 6.0L engine upgrade and BRABUS engine plates are found in the engine bay along with a unique BRABUS VIN plate which was assigned to the car reading W09124V6032B16001. Power is estimated to be 408 horsepower. The cost of the BRABUS conversion was nearly 200k Deutsche Marks (DEM) plus a 15% VAT tax in 1995. Service records are included with the car totalling 65,000 Euros.
Recent service includes new H&R springs, a new exhuast system, two new catalytic converters, ignition cables, and a new engine wiring harness. A complete transmission overhaul was performed in May 2023 totalling nearly 7k Euros with a receipt provided in the gallery.
A video of the car has been provided by the seller below.
Imagine the year is 1995, you are a successful entrepreneur, own a large supermarket chain, and are fulfilling a life-long dream. You have just ordered a brand-new Mercedes-Benz E36 AMG Cabriolet in Azurite Blue with Grey leather and very generous equipment as a convertible. Surely the AMG body upgrades and beefed up 3.6L engine denoted on by the 957 AMG Engineering code on the datacard will satisfy your hearts desire. You receive your dream car and soon realize that the 272 hp is leaving something to be desired. While a reported 68 E36 AMG cabriolets were built worldwide, and the 272 hp was categorized in a higher league in 1995, you do what any enthusiast with an unlimited budget in pursuit of perfection would do: call BRABUS. After some conversation, it quickly became clear there was no way around a V8 M119 engine if performance was to increase significantly. The 320 hp of the M119 E50 engine also needed to be optimized. The answer led to a complete rebuild using body shell parts from the 124036 (E500) and an M119 engine enlarged to 6.0 liters and 408 hp. The technical conversion included the beautiful three-piece BRABUS Monoblock III rims in 18”, suspension and brake upgrades, the BRABUS 300km/h speedometer, the Tempmatic oil temperature display (with switch in the center console), the wood gearshift and floor mats. The look was to remain discreet, and the "base" vehicle E36 AMG was ordered with a “no nameplate” so that the large engine would remain an understatement. In addition to the cost of the E36 AMG totalling 162k Deutsche Marks (DEM), the cost of the BRABUS conversion was nearly 200k Deutsche Marks (DEM) plus a 15% VAT tax. In total, this build would cost a staggering 390k Deutsche Marks (DEM) in 1995.
Now we realize that this was not just a dream, but a reality. This crazy idea resulted in the only A124 convertible ever built by BRABUS with an M119 V8 engine and 6.0L displacement. The E36 AMG as a convertible was already very rare with 68 units and now we are talking about an absolute one-off! However, it was very important to the first owner that the regular maintenance work could be carried out at any Mercedes workshop. For this reason, the standard brake system of the R129 SL600 was fitted with large brake disks (345mm front, 300mm rear). The entire concept is ingeniously executed. BRABUS installed the battery at the rear left and used all the wiring harnesses and control units from the W124 E500 with adaptation to the 6.0L engine. The ASR system works perfectly, and the top speed is limited to a reported 270 km/h. You open the door, sit down at the wooden/leather AMG steering wheel, the belt extender guides the seatbelt over your shoulder, you start the engine and an indescribable startup sound emanates from the exhaust followed by a deep V8 bubbling at idle. A slight push of the accelerator and the torque pushes you into the seat while the transmission shifts through the gears as smooth as butter. This is what perfection and passion feel like. BRABUS absolutely nailed it with this one-off build. This 1 of 1 BRABUS A124 is now offered for the first time publicly with everything a true collector requires.

All I can say is....WOW. These cars are pretty sweet with the 3.2 v6, never mind an example also "touched" by AMG, and then Brabus. Just, WOW.
Let me the first to comment on how absolutely incredible this car is. My mind is blown at how crazy this is. As if the original E36 AMG cab wasn't special enough... I guess for someone it wasn't and seeing this, I can't really blame them. Will be following this one!
